Why are some trainers so stupid but some smart?

I know what you mean, like you get a trainer in Norman's gym in Emerald with a Zangoose and he faced my Shedinja and he uses Slash three times in a row and then finally uses Faint Attack <-Moron.

When I saw the title, it instantly made me think of shorts! The shorts guy on RBG and FRLG, which made me think of my friend who has this picture of the guy through all four seasons and then he died of pneumonia. hehe.
