Why aren't they made over PC?

The question is that why are the games like Pokemon Battle Revolution or Digimon World or Lost Oddyssey not made for PC? It's not possible for everyone to purchase something like XBox or Nintendo Wii? If they are not able to build the same game then they can even try to create some other games in the same graphics. What's the matter? I can't understand.( well, sorry for my english , i'm not master in that )

Well, in Pokémon's case, Nintendo creates the games so basically, they'd rather make everyone go out and buy a Nintendo system to play it. They get more money that way, I guess. I can't speak for the other games, but it's probably much the same case.

    Ohhhh....

So good to see someone. First I also thought this but aren't there more creators of the pc games than that of nintendo. Hmmm.... well basically I also think no but can't they imagine to make a game like pokemon if nintendo had copyrights?

Nintendo can license the games to them, so they could make something Pokémon-related for the PC. It's happened before, since I have some sort of Pokémon Card Studio thing. Makes greeting cards and banners and such. XD; And I think there are some educational games or something for the PC, too. But no full-fledged Pokémon games. And that's probably because they'd rather people go out and buy their systems to be able to play those kinds of games.

^Exactly. Pokémon is a license that belongs to Nintendo, and since they make consoles, they'd rather just sell them on their own to make even more profit out of it.

I can't speak for the non-Nintendo franchises. But...as much as we'd all like to think that Nintendo is some fun-loving, caring, entity - we need to remember that it is a business.

They've just launched the Wii. It is vital for the Wii to suceed. Why release a big name Pokemon title on an entirely different platform not owned by Nintendo? How would that sell systems?

Like Lightning already said, some Pokemon games make the crossover. But they aren't "games". Just little play things. Mario's done it too. Mario Teaches Typing. But, nothing major. More a way to pick up some extra money because it features a popular license.

Well I think you people are right. But as lightning said there are some educational games for pc like masters arena and team turbo (though only two are there) can it be imagined that they would create some more games of pokemons for pc? I can't think that it is possible cuz the games they had made, have been in market from a long time ago. It might be possible that they forgot about them :(

There's a difference between simply throwing a license around and actually having Nintendo or GameFreak develop a game. And there's also a difference between a full-fledged game and an interactive play thing.

All the PC (or Mac) Pokemon games simply used the license. Nintendo or GameFreak did not develop these games. They were made by Mattel, TLC, and ValuSoft. Not really big name game makers. Wizards of the Coast developed some CD-based TCGs, but that's about it.

Mario Teaches Typing was from Interplay and Brainstorm. Again, no Nintendo involvement other than the license, and they weren't games persay - just interactive play things.

Way back in the days of NES, Nintendo had a slight interest in bringing Mario platformers to the PC market. Several developers were approached, but eventually Nintentdo decided that it wasn't a good idea and they rejected the entire project.

Yeah, it's true that they aren't the creators of the game but as they have the right to fully control the productions, they used to create such games for pc. Otherwise it's not that hard to make such Pokemon games for PC.

heres a point why would Nintendo make a game for Microsoft??? Mac and Linux maybe but Microsoft their console war enemy???

Yeah, but...those are different divisions. Different markets.

You play Nintendo console games on the TV. Sony makes TVs. Oh noes!

Microsoft owns Rare. Microsoft has a console. Rare can't develop for Nintendo's console. Microsoft does not have a protable. Rare can develop for Nintendo's portable.

Even before Microsoft got into the gaming market (well, console gaming), Nintendo examined the idea and decided it wasn't in theit best interest.

Plus most people's computers wouldn't be able to handle Wii-quality graphics.

Pokemon wouldn't make any money if it was targeted to PC. Most of pokemon's fans are little kids, and kids don't usually play PC games.
