Why did Charmeleon Evolve

Whay did Charmeleon evolved

    Well me personally think on the outside is was to battle areodactyl but i think on some level it still wanted to save ash What are your thoughts
     
    It was to save Ash from Aerodactyl I believe and it started an infamous shaky bond between them.

    It didn't evolve to save Ash. It evolved because Aerodactyl presented a physical challenge to him, and he wanted to prove he was superior. At that point, it was very obvious that he cared very little about Ash.

    It could also be seen as foreshadowing as how trading takes place in the games. In-game, traded Pokemon won't obey you if they evolve too fast; at the same time, they gain 1.5x the experience than OT's Pokemon. And Charmander wasn't originally Ash's.
     
    That sounds about right. Forgot how he got the little thingy in the first place.
     
    Yeah I think it was him wanting to beat every inch of Aerodactyl. I used to have this episode when I was younger. Charmeleon hated Ash (well maybe not hated thats such a strong word... Disliked very much, there that's better).
     
    NO but i know it did battle to prove that He was better than areodactly but when jigglypuff started singing why did Charizard stay awake a little while longer than areodactyl to Catch ash it didnt have to so i think on some level he wanted to same ash
     
    It never evolved to save Ash, it only evolved so it can battle the Aerodactyl...I think that was a little obvious with that...
     
    deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep, deep down, maybe he wanted to save ash, but it really just wanted a tough opponent.

    He really didnt respect ash, so i dont think the primary reason for evolution was to save him
     
    It evolved because it could. And because Charizard is still the most awesome Pokemon in existence.
     
    If I recall correctly, didn't Charmeleon love Ash just as much as when it was a Charmander? I think it was to save Ash, but after it evolved, it became careless.

    Love isn't the word. As Charmeleon and Charizard, it didn't respect Ash as a trainer. Couple that with the huge increase in power, and it decided to ignore Ash for a very long time.
     
    It was hungry! It wanted to eat Aerydactyl, so it grew friggin' wings and chased after it!

    J/K, but to me, it didn't really matter. It just meant his Charizard was going to be a lot more pissy than it was before.
