Why do people say that Pokemon is for kids?

anime vrs... movies

see the anime the show is mian reason... thatys not much plot not much story

the movies on the other hand are better......
also the pokemon mystery dungens are kinda like the movies
the rescuteem tryes to save the world from a meteor and the human turn into a pokemon learns who he is... but learns he has to save the world in both versions while he finds out how wonderfull pokemon is ...

The show makes it childish.

The game, however, demands some intelligent into raising your Pokémons properly.
 
Anyway, everybody judge things based on first impressions and stereotypes, it's just how the world works..

Excellent, that explains in perfectly in my opinion.
Even if you think about the games...they may have complex elements and are entertaining (or even exciting, my hands were sweating when I was about to battle Palkia...), ev-training etc...BUT: You can still play though the game without being skilled. In-game, skills and knowledge do matter but in the end you can beat the npcs with everything if it's level's only high enough...
The anime...well..it has been explained already, kudos to mineowyn for her excellent post.
 
Probably because of the fact that the majority of Pokemon followers (when the show began) were mostly around 5-10 years old.
 
probably because their isn't really that much of violence, no adult situations no cursing, no blood
