Why do you like pokemon?

Because it is fun, and therefore makes me happy.

But I mean, even the shows and movies are like that. Even though I keep thinking some parts are lame, that changes when I hear some joke that only some people would get.

It's kind of a loyal thing. I still like Pokemon not as much as back then. It was a hobby of mine to play the Pokemon games, collect the cards and watch the anime. At this time I really had fun. Now right now, everytime I'm bored or have nothing to do, I can still revert back to Pokemon and still have as much fun as I did back then.

Well it began when I was a bright-eyed tyke at the wee age of 7 years old when I saw my friend at school playing the game. I knew I had to get it. I finally got Blue Version for my birthday and played it frantically on my father's hand-me-down Game Boy. I believe I chose Bulbasaur as my first starter ever. Oh, and you wouldn't believe my excitement when he first evolved into an Ivysaur. From there, I've been a fan ever since.

Even in high school, though I was ridiculed by those not keen on the franchise, I played the games when I had free time in class or on the bus to and from school or football games or band competitions (I was a band nerd). Among other games like Fire Emblem and such, of course. I even made friendships that still hold true today because someone saw me playing one of the games.

It's the addictive nature of capturing new monsters and seeing what they can do, hand selecting my battle team out of over a hundred (and now hundreds) of creatures, and the sense of accomplishment of overcoming every milestone in your journey such as gyms and the elite four that draws me to the games.

Well, for starters... I hated Pokemon. A Hardcore hatred. But that was so long in the past. That was a long, long, long, long time ago.

I have a whole different view on it now. In fact, I'm in love with Pokemon, haha! I started watching again until the anime had me hooked. The plotlines were just too exciting and I admired it more and more.

And there came shippings.

Believe me, I've been breathing Pokemon now and then. Haha!

I like Pokemon because it's childish, but at the same time strangely complex, as noted by the person a few posts above me. I first got into it when I was about 4, because it was the "cool" thing back then. I loved the anime until around age 9, when I started to hate Pokemon, thinking that the idea was "stupid". But then around age 11 I got back into it, playing the video games discreetly to avoid being pigeonholed at school as "that one nerdy kid". I just finshed my freshman year of high school a couple days ago. Surprisingly, a lot of people at my school play Pokemon. I also enjoy it because it's fairly easy to make the franchise into your own world. Finally, trading and battling provides endless fun. There's always a trainer looking to battle.

I'll conclude with this: Pokemon is merely an interest for me. I don't spend hours upon hours of playting it, I play it whenever I get bored or have free time. Deep down, I'm a sports and music lover.

I have always loved Pokemon. During the R/B/Y days when you were playing the games, I was simply watching the show and getting acquainted with it. I didn't think the games would be that great. Then I heard of G/S/C, and I got curious, so mom took me to the nearest Wal-Mart and I found Gold version. I got it, and was addicted to it. I couldn't put it down. Loved Pokemon ever since.

I enjoy it because all of the possibilities, anything can always happen. There are so many choices, expanded further in competitive battling.
