Why does Geodude float

the answer is quite obvious. They are inflated with helium!

It's stupid that Geodude floats. The reason it floats is because the person who decided Geodude should float said so(must've been on something). I do think it's worth noting that on Colisseum/XD/Battle Revolution Geodude stops floating when knocked(at least I think, my memory might deceive me). As for why some psychic Pokemon float and others don't, maybe the don't like levitating (like Slowpoke's too lazy/stupid and Exeggutor is a tree) or just don't have the ability to levitate themselves. But any way, the only Pokemon that should float should be ones that make sense floating. Rocks don't float, fish don't float(in air), and plants don't float! Now to go play "Will It Float?" on Xbox.

I reckon out of all of them the mineral one sound pretty beliveable i think it was 3

Because, dude, he's a magnet, man. He just floats because he can.

Lol. This topic sounds like a something a bunch of potheads sitting around would talk about.

You guys, lets face it. Geodude doesn't float.

Anime episodes, yeah, it doesn't float in those movies. It only looks like it's floating in Pokemon games. The sprites made them look like its floating.

Similar to Steelix floating. It's probably just something having to do with his body structure.

Oh, a new crap theory:
Geodude actually bounces off the ground faster than the human eye can perceive, thus creating the illusion of floating.

Geudude actually doesn't float, it rolls on the ground. Its sprites likely only appear as though floating for aesthetic purposes.

READ THE POKEDEX ENTRIES FFS.

Geodudes do float, but only at a certain level above the ground to give them maximum movement in battle. Their entries say that they CLIMB with their arms. Maybe using their arms is faster and easier for them to scale mountains.

The material within Geodude causes a magnetic electroplasma that interacts with the material stationed in/on the ground, allowing Geodude to float.

Nothing to cite what you say? Entries say they roll downhill and climb uphill... and that people throw them in snowball fights, lol.

Sourceplz.

I don't understand why people are getting all technical with why geodude can float...if you want to get technical, tell me how a horse can stay alive while being on fire for it's entire life...@_@
I'm pretty sure this thread was made so people can make up stuff why they think this could have happened in the Pokemon world, not the real world... I could be wrong, but that's just how I think the thread starter wanted this to be.

Here's my theory:
Geodude was never intented to float, but one geodude became best friends with a gastly. Since gastly can float, geodude was really jealous and dedicated his entire life to learning how to float (just like meowth dedicated his life to learn how to talk) :) haha

Simple.
Geodude eats magnets! And since everybody knows pokemans have no pooper, he can't expose of them and he eats more and more and he is then magnetised this magnetisim he creates is affected by the earths which forces him to rise!

Or he has feet but there invisible and shorter than his hands!

I always thought it just... rolled around on the ground. o_o; I mean, I never see it float in the anime, at least the newer episodes.
