Question: why is there always WAY more guests online than members?

    that puzzles me, there is always WAY more guests online than there are actual members... why is that?
     
    PokeCommunity has a lot of resources that you don't need to sign up to read, and they show up a lot in Google searches. Also, sometimes people just don't log in before they post.
     
    And then, of course, there's also the fact that there's a lot of bots (programs search engines use to index websites) dropping by, and that adds to the guest count too.
     
    Usually no, when search bots crawl the site they're detected and not counted as a guest, but they DO show up on the "Who's Online" list if you look for them.

    But that's just typical vB behavior. Hard to say if the staff has anything that might change that set up or installed.
     
    Maybe it's just an addition brought in by vB 4.0. I run a board with that version (no add-ons or settings that would affect the visitor count, mind you), and they are counted as guests. On the other hand, I vaguely recall the same happening back when the board was using previous versions, but it could be that I'm just thinking of how it is now. *shrug*
     
    The guest to member ratio being so different is something that's typical of most websites, to be honest. Especially the large websites that hold a lot of good information. With any websites I've ever been on where the stats were viewable, there's always been more guests than members. Not surprising since more people choose to lurk website than sign up for them. :/ Unfortunately.
