For the last 5 days poke stops have been brilliant giving out goodies and lots of pokeballs. So what happened to them today then? within my usual pokestops in my region today I was lucky if I got 3 items Out and most with no pokeballs.

Why cannot this game be more consistent, pomemon appearing everywhere and no pokeballs as the stops have gone on some sort of go slow after a brilliant 5-6 days. Now I have no pokeballs left except 2 great and 2 ulta. I walked through these 7 stops twice and probably only got about 6 balls.

Unfortunately double items and double Pokemon spawns was an event that ended on the 11th. I found out about it yesterday.

Now you get 7-8 items on your first pokestop then all others give about 3 items maybe 4 if you're lucky. I kind of miss the old system. You only get maybe 4 balls on your pokestop then 1-2 after. Its very difficult to get Pokeballs now.

Yea today was really bad in getting balls I'm not buying them and have to walk around about 7 stops in a 2 mile stretch to get no balls is not on. At this rate I will be giving this game a miss if a more fairer system is not introduced. They introduced a lot more Pokemon but nothing from the pokestops to even cover the amount of pokemon been thrown out. I have none left now anyway so maybe time to say goodbye to it.

As others have posted, it was a promotional event.

[PokeCommunity.com] Why the sudden change in pokestops

This was to coincide with the recently updated daily bonus feature.

First things first, the extra Pokémon spawn was made more apparent during the event. The additional spawn rate was updated a long time ago.

Second thing, this is why I am always critical of developers introducing temporary boosts/promotions that inflate progress for players. Because as soon as the event expires, players begin to complain about how the game was "more fun" during the event and some threaten to quit indefinitely. Sure, "patch players" exist in every game and work hand in hand with development ploys to pull back older players, but honestly all it does is inappropriately feed player entitlement. A never-ending struggle.

I can understand that but there should be a more even balance of the game if more pokemon are appearing which they are, then should be more from the pokestops if not this is where the enthusiasm of the game goes. It should be more balanced out.

I don't think the event was advertised like the Halloween event. I think I found out about the event on the 12th. To be honest the worst thing about this change is that Pokestops only give 2 to 3 items now, if you only live near 1 or 2 Pokestops it'd probably take you hours to get 10 ultra balls.

Who cares if you get 7 items on the first pokestop (only 3 are balls) if every pokestop after only gives 3 items or once in a blue moon 4.

Agree I am on level 24 but think I will give the game up now after yesterday my enthusiasm went down like a lead weight. Not walking 3 miles to get no balls and pokemon appearing like crazy around me. May come back if they balance the pokestops out more my bag is empty.

But it was like this before. I don't get why people are only upset now, after it's back to normal. You remember it being this way before last week, right?

Personally, I used the last 7 days to fill my bag. I've upgraded the storage to 600 and the majority of that is Poke Balls and Great Balls thanks to this event. As of this moment I have 250 Poke Balls, 163 Great Balls and 69 Ultra Balls (giggity). Before last week I was down to about 40 Poke Balls and 20 Great Balls. So I've managed to stock up on Balls even with the glut of extra Pokemon to catch; and I've been catching hundreds this week. Hopefully this should help me keep a decent number of Balls on me now that the Pokestops are back to normal. This week I've been acquiring Balls faster than I've been using them, so it should balance out now.

Thats ok if you are near quite a log of pokestops. But what I am trying to say is the 7 pokestops I have within a 2 mile walk from me I did the trip twice sor 14 pokestops and only about 6 pokeballs came out, Meanwhile because of the extra pokemon now appearing it does not balance out, I was choosy to which ones I attempted to catch, I ignored all the pidgies, rats etc.,

But still ran out of balls, plus even on Excellent and Great throws they broke free far too often, more balls needed. I think its a ploy to get you buy balls, to which I will not do.

More pokemon appearing, vs less items in pokestops now albeit , it is back to normal on that score but more pokemon. Unbalanced.

I would have to walk around the 7 stops in my vicinity 3 or 4 times to get any reasonable balls, and not catch any pokemon, which would make playing the game boring and enthusiam goes. On that score it is a good job walking is one of my hobbies :)

This pretty much stole my reply but the up and down thing with disappointment baked into it, is a come on to buy stuff. I like walking and got to explore a new PokeStop and hatch out a 5km egg. I seem to have enough eggs to keep my one incubator nice and busy. I'm back to having too few PokeBalls, but for me that was always a way of life.

I like the picking and the ball management that is now needed.

Switching to superballs or hyperballs when it is appropriate will often save you from wasting 10 regular pokeballs.

I get much more good pokemon (meaning they have high gym potential or they are so rare that i still need them for a pokedex evolution) than i got before this change, because i see more pokemon and pick the rare ones first.

For stardust, i prioritize the low level ones with the green or yellow circle, if they are more difficult i switch to superball right away, or i skip them.

You should not be wasting balls on something with a brown or red circle, especially if it has low gym potential and you do not need it.

With the same balls from pokestops, i now get more rare/good pokemon simply because i see more of them, and i also get more dust because for that i can pick the ones with green or yellow circles.

If you cannot catch them all, try to be smart about prioritizing, if you play it right then the increased spawns can only be an advantage because you will make more with the limited balls you get from pokestops.

So i am still not buying balls, and while some people may buy more balls, it certainly lowered the amount of lure modules being sold.

Mine seemed fine yesterday, but going to work today I immediately noticed the changes. /: Barely getting anything now, if I weren't working in such a good area with a commute through Manhattan and the busier parts of Brooklyn I'd be tempted to buy capture items again. But unlike me, others aren't so lucky, especially people in more rural areas with almost no pokéstops..

Suppose I can see the point about managing your items better, though. Previously I'd get so many excess items I'd have to throw out extras or spend everything on hordes of Pidgey and Rattata. But again, I live in NYC; many others aren't in the same situation and rely on the few pokéstops they have spread across miles.

Here's a list of items I received from Pokestops on the 12th and the times and # of items I got

    11/12 9:55am 6 items (1st stop)
    11/12 9:56am 3 items
    11/12 11:12am 3 items
    11/12 11:26am 3 items
    11/12 11:37am 3 items
    11/12 12:29pm 3 items
    11/12 1:49pm 4 items
    11/12 1:59pm 3 items
    11/12 2:06pm 3 items
    11/12 3:06pm 3 items
I swiped 5 more times that day and 4 had 3 items and 1 had 4.

On the 12th I got 27 Pokeballs, 8 Great Balls and 3 Ultra Balls.

On the 13th I swiped 1 Pokestop and got 20 items, on the 14th my 1st one gave me 6 items, the others each gave 3 items. I would probably go as far as to say there's no point in swiping more then once a day.

So the first Pokestop you swipe can give roughly between 6 and 20 items, 20 was probably the equivalent to winning the lottery..., but every stop after gives between 3 and 4 items now. Instead of 3-7 before the event. That would suck if you lived near only a couple Pokestops as you have wait 5 minutes between stops. Maybe you could park your car near a Pokestop and pray not to get ticketed for lottering? No offense but lowering the item output in order to entice daily Pokestop swiping is kind of a lousy tactic.

Agree with that point the pokestops have reduced in items. I haven't played the game for a few days now as I see no point in it. Only a few stops to go to and spread about not worth the hike. Gone back to my field walking where there is no poke stops and no pokemon anyway. The stops and pokemon only seem to be in built up areas.

Shame as I enjoyed the game before but not now with all these changed.

You are far more likely to remember unusual events.

Getting anything other than 3 items (other than from the 10th pokestop in a row) is quite rare, and has been so before the event/update as well. For old data you need to review old videos. So i am not convinced.

About the daily bonuses, so far i think they are going up each day and then drop back to 1 as soon as you reach 7.

Actually i have old screenshots from the halloween-event where the pokestops all of a sudden gave double items.

    it went like 6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-7-6-6-6-6-7-6-6-6-6.

Double items/Pokémon event is over, that's all there is to it.

Daily PokéStop visit (after 12 a.m. local time) grants extra items. Niantic never specified what extra meant. 7th consecutive day visiting a PokéStop grants "many" extra items. Again, unspecified what the exact values are. Personally speaking, all I know is that I got a lot of items. Then it resets back to Day 1.

Other than that, 3-4 items per PokéStop visit. Doubled on 10th unique Stop visited within 30 minutes. (Edit: actually not 100% sure it's 10/30 now. Doubled items is still a feature, just not certain if it's the 10th stop and/or if it must be within 30 minutes)

Honestly, with any game, if you're not having fun, stop playing. That's all there is to it. Unless you want to stick around and wait for people to convince you otherwise.

Perhaps I should write a guide on how to survive playing Pokémon GO in a rural environment.

Near where I live is a college campus, and I have scoped out a short loop walk with 15 pokestops which takes about 5 minutes to walk. Whenever I am low on supplies, I head there and start doing loops. I can see that if you live in a rural area your options might be more limited.

When I was visiting Boston I discovered an even faster way to visit pokestops is while riding a bus. The right downtown bus route passed one pokestop every 10-20 seconds. Subway lines tend to be too far underground and the GPS doesn't work.

Where I live in uk in rural we do not have those opportunities far too less stops versus pokemon, now they have stopped stop requests.

Never knew how bad the urban-rural imbalance until I visited my ancestral home in the rural province.

While there are discrepancies between the abundance of pokestops where I work (Central Business district) against my residential area within the city as well, the gap against the rural area was quite enormous like a paradise to a wasteland.

But it is what it is. Rural players have to play smart given the circumstances.
