Why this shipping combination?

Why does everyone ship Lance and Yellow?! I mean, I know Yellow's a girl, and I think they appear in the same Manga series (not sure), but why? It's such a weird ship, also considering the age difference.

I can try 8D Grantedshipping, Lance x Yellow has always been something I find cute.

They are both special children of Viridian, with those strange gifts. As such, they have a special connection to begin with. Then, the Yellow Saga has them meeting now and then as adversaries, and in the end Yellow defeats Lance and quite possibly astonishes him by doing so. I think the dynamic animosity between them is precious. Especially considering that Lance somewhat becomes a good guy later on. (I haven't finished the HG/SS arc but)

I agree that it's not a realistic pairing, mostly because of their ages and the fact that they want completely different things in life and their paths kind of never really cross again after Lance pretty much wanted to kill Yellow. But there you have it.

This is completely based on Pokémon Adventures manga though, since Yellow is an original character there and doesn't appear in the games or anywhere else. For that, I'll tag this thread with the manga prefix, if you are okay with that.
