4th Gen Why Trade???

It's true, It's risky trading for legit pokemon like shines or legendaries of EV trained pokes, but I always 'summary' the pokemon I'm trading for right before I trade it to check it's location/level it was caught in, possibly It's ID if it is an event and if It was imported or not. =)

That's why people should clone, even if it were against their principles. If you lose a valuable shiny/event, it's your own problem. Although I'm not a great supporter of cloning, it is only good that people found out how to do it.

And if a Pokemon is well hacked, you don't see the difference right away.

i trade online alot so i can get items and sometimes pokemon. most of the legendaries i got when i first started playing were hacked, but now only about half of them are (im working to try and get legit ones). i dont play with them, but i want to have as many legit as possible. i rlly dislike hacked pokemon. what i did was when i was finishing my dex, i would breed the ones i got in trades and train them myself and thats exactly how i filled my dex. it took forever but by training, i managed to get my dragonite lvl 100 (thats my only lvl 100 pokemon) and each pokemone was raised the old fashion way

I find this kinda funny... you are asking why people are trading in a game that was DESIGNED that you MUST trade? If you want all the pokemon you have to trade from at least diamond to pearl and back. What if someone only has diamond? they will need pokemon from pearl. What if someone doesn't have LG/FR/E/R/S? They will have to trade. The game was designed entirely around the concept of trading, and the idea was to trade with your friends or family. Now with the DS and WiFi, our friends and family don't have to be right down the street.

Now what if you want a mew? How do you get it? Did you go to Toys R Us and get it? I didn't, so now without trading, i'm out of luck. What if you want the Deyxos that came from Houston Space Center? Unless you live in Houston, again, you are out of luck. Darkrai? Only available in Japan...

The game was built around trading and now trading is easier. Can you get hacked pokemon? sure, but you could have gotten one from your friend just the same. If i want someone's mew then i need to offer something enticing enough to make them part with it. Lvl 100 pokemon are one way, shiny are another. If i know that a lvl 100 pokemon that i've put my hard work and time into raising will get me the mew that i can't get any other way, then it's time well spent.

okay 1. naruto is for 10 year olds
and 2. lot of peaople collec shinies, you cant deny that you dont want more, cloning isnt considered hacking, cloned pokemon are leget. Some people try to fill pokedexes, get certain natures and evs. You couild trade for a strong pokemon to add to your team. Really your opinion stated is narrow minded.

Why was this topic made? The starter is stupid in the head. Does the phrase "EV Training" bring something to mind? Or maybe you are so dumb you don't know what that is. Training a Pokémon to level 100 is good yes, but EV Training it and then leveling it to 100 is better. And for that you need right natured Pokémon for your super-team. If I want a shiny version of a Pokémon for my team, I can't breed for days to get the right nature an a shiny Pokémon because it is possible but for some reason, you always end up getting something when you least expect it or are wanting it. Therefore, someone else might have the exact Pokémon you want, both shiny and the right nature so then you can trade and make the perfect team. I hate hacking but hey, hacking a Pokémon into the game doesn't really do much and you can normally get a legit one eventually anyway. I did that with a Japanese Deoxys (I think it was real) for a Celebi and traded on GTS until I got legit 10 ANIV. So yea, you can always keep trading until your game is hack-free and it's okay if they pass through your game. But I would never dream of keeping them... :P

I don't understand you're point.
People can Chain Pokemon to obtain Shinys very quickly. They've become very common in D/P.
And mostly people trade to fill in a Pokedex slot or to have a higher chance of winning lotterys and such.
And it can also be a trade with a good irl/online friend so you always have something to remember them by.

I seriously think this thread is phail.

great minds do think alike. >_>

Exactly what I thought when I saw the first few posts. And anyways, you have to be some sort of freak to collect all the pokemon without trading to somebody else. And then you start talking about illegit shiny Pokemon, have you heard of "chaining?" So what if their cloned? I seriously think this thread is phail.

First of all, not everyone values their shinies; I personally chain for shiny Pokémon just so I can trade them away for something I need. And no, none of my shinies are cloned. (apart from a hacked Latias I use to get what I want from the GTS, usually within one minute from depositing it) But seriously, why would you not trade when trading is the only way to "complete" the game excluding hacking.

That post had so much phail in it. D= First of all, how can you say you're not a supporter of cloning when one of the main reasons you even come over to my place is to clone your shinies and trade them to random people in the Wireless Trade Corner? And second, your last sentence was completely wrong; if a Pokémon is well hacked you'll never notice a difference.
