Why wasn't "Pokemon Scent-sation" banned?

The episodewere Ash versus Erika.
Ash wans't allowed to versus Erika, only girls were.
Isn't that being sexist??

NO, Ash couldn't fight Erika because he insulted their perfume, which apparently they took great pride in. The only reason that he dressed up was to sneak in was so nobody would recognize him. It was just another case of opening his mouth before thinking.

Yeah. It wasn't just girls. Ash walked into their perfume shop and before he know it was the ym leader's shop he said the perfume stunk and for that he wasn't allowed to fight here.

So Team rocket helped disguse Ash so nobody would no It was him. But pikachu know it was Ash.

WoW ash is freaky all right in his own lil mind O.o

The dressing-up was Team Rocket's idea. They're the freaky ones, but we already knew that...

there's nothing wrong with battling a male in the Celadon gym.. no one ever banned guys from entering.. and I'd agree with Ichapokemr.. Ash wasn't allowed into the gym because he insulted their perfumes

I say didn't smell girly perfumes before,y he insulted their performs. On top of all of that why couldn't he just zip his small mouth and make pretent like he didn't smell nothing, that way he wouldn't have to dress up as a lil girl. They should have noticed him by the accent he had while talking.

Ash couldn't fight Erica because he insulted the perfume she made while in her shop.

As others have said.

So nah, it wasn't sexist.

Well, that's anime. Viewers can easily recognise the disguises (be it in voices or dressing), but it's oblivious to the characters in the anime.. Well, at least for quite some anime that I've seen, it works like this... (I think) XD

hey, it'll seem strange to say this, but why did you put the title of this thread this way? I mean, why should this episode even be banned in the first place? o.O Whether or not Ash is allowed to enter the gym, that has nothing got to do with banning the episode.. there wasn't any religious issues or whatsoever.. no?

yes, I've read the first post.. but what I'm also trying to say is that, is sexist a good reason to ban an episode? hmms.

I was about to ask the same question myself. O_o Being sexist shouldn't be a reason to ban an episode; in fact, there are a lot of other family/cartoon shows that display this type of behavior at times. I'll repeat what's been said time and time again, though...heh...I don't think Erika and her perfume shopgirls were entirely sexist. They allowed anyone to go inside, it's just that Ash had to open his mouth--like he always does, heh--and insult them in the process, lol. So, that's why he was only restricted from the gym. In general, I think anyone who came as a threat to the gym wouldn't be allowed entry.

Anyway, like the goal-driven person that Ash is, and with the er, help from Team Rocket...nothing was going to stop him from getting another badge, so he saw dressing up as a girl would be the safest option in regards to getting into the gym. I take this episode lightly--it was all in good fun. ^_^ Personally, I believe there have been other episodes that were of a more...questionable nature than this one; but, that would be going off topic, huh? XD

Actually I thought her banning him in that way was rather clever. Showed more depth to Erika, and spiced things up considering how gender neutral the series was at that point. Besides, if it was banned, it would be quite an omission given how the Rainbow Badge has had an episode or two focused on it (All Fired Up).

I thought people would have issues with Ash's crossdressing than this. Heheh.

Edit: I fixed the title to add the episode title. Should clear things up.

The episodes that will never ever be ban are: Gym, Contests, and current pokemon captures of Ash and the group.

I like it though and glad that it wasn't banned. It was funny that Ash was wearing a dress and he looked funny too. For once we see Ash and Team Rocket working together.

Yeah.. I don't think creators of the anime will want to do two different versions on the episode where Ash encounters the Celadon Gym leader.. a waste of time I'd say.. Imagine cancelling a gym episode!! Many look forward to gym battles, and cancelling an episode like that would be bad =/
