Why Wobbufet is Uber

wobby is great with his HP. and he's kind of like the other Psychic pokemon. Speedy and has great sp.Atk. to me that's what makes it uber.

Thats the thing, I dont wanna have to become a genius at prediction just to beat it. And you answered your own question here, if the only way to escape wobby is to blow yourself up, why should it be allowed in OU? As people have already said, its not realistic to have a poke on your team just to suicidally kill itself so it can take wobby too.

Erm, what??? Wobuffet is base 33 speed, thats one of the slowest things everrrr. On top of that is never uses its special attack stat, which is also rock-bottom.
 
Guys I never said Wobby should be OU. I agree it's uber. >>

Anyways I'm just posting to say that apparently in D/P Encore stops working when you run out of PP for the Encore move, making this strategy useless. Shoddy glitch will be fixed.
 
I heard it on Smogon, some guy mentioned it in the Wobby topic when this strategy was being discussed.
 
This THING is so freaking painful, the only time I was able to beat it in Shoddy is because I had a lucky incident. My opponent switched Wobbufet into my Gengar's Hypnosis... and since my Gengar did NOT know Shadow Ball, I had to use Thunderbolt. My opponent, thinking I'm using Shadow Ball.. switches into Gyarados, faints, leaves the game.

I tried using a Wobbufet once *gets shot* , and I've gotten in this REALLY bad situation that made me leave the battle.... just after switching in my Wobbufet, the opponent... apparently switches in HIS Wobbufet too. This was more painful than the time I got stuck in a Magnezone VS Magnezone war.

Anyways, I really do think Wobbufet is pretty uber. If it wasn't for his godforsaken Shadow Tag...

Safeguard is another story. You HAVE to predict your opponent into the status, or else its gg no status on Wobbufet.

Destiny Bond.. not too much of a problem at all since hes slow ^^

Encore.. now here's a very BAD thing for Wobbufet opposers and good thing for Wobbufet users... once locked in Shadow Tag, you might be Encored into something.. a Swords Dance since you really can't hurt Wobbufet.

The only thing I found that truly defeats this blob of crap is Taunt, but Wobbufet's switch in can be so disgusting that your Pokemon WILL be taken down one by one. By moving Wobbufet into the OU, they have given a new requirement for a team... a TAUNTER
 
Not even Taunt is enough to stop it. It is able to simply switch out of those. Unless you are willin got put Taunt on every poke, forget it.
 
I asked Colin when the death by struggle from Encore glitch will be fixed. His answer was, "whenever you fix it". Yeah, way to have a simulator simulate the real game. If you're going to unleash this damn UBER, at least make the mechanics fair!

So right now, this strategy is still viable, just adding to the arsenal of deadly sets by Wobba.

When I'm bored, I'll make the cheapest team ever.
