Will any leads capture a legendary?

If Team Rocket ever has to leave for good, capturing a legendary would make for a nice finale. Also, Celebi was seriously considered for a candidate to travel with Ash and friends.

But isn't Misty is a water type trainer? (Yes, I remember she had Togepi lol)
I think if Pokemon was to ever end (for whatever reason) I could see Ash capturing Ho-oh at the end of his Journey.

I don't think any leads will get legends. I think Misty could get a Phione, but that's it for the moment.

Team Rocket already has something better than most of the legends in the game; Wobbuffet.

I just don't see Ash catching Ho-oh (Or any legend for that matter.) However, I think a great ending to the anime would simply be a movie circulating around Ho-oh (With all of Ash's Pokemon), that ends with Ash and Pikachu having an epic battle against it towards the end. The battle rages on, with no clear winner. A misfired thunderbolt from Pikachu hits a reformed Team Rocket. As they fly through the air they would break the 4th wall, saying stuff like "It's been a good run. We've been in ____ episodes and ____ movies." The anime would officially end with their famous "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" *Ding* The credits roll.

Though I think Ash will get a Zorua imo.

I don't know about the whole 'leads capturing Legendaries' thing. I mean, yeah, there have been times where Ash has actually won against a Legendary Pokemon, and I guess we could take that as meaning that it's possible that he might get to that point.

But here's the thing. Legendary Pokemon are very difficult to use in the general sense. Normally when a Legendary Pokemon comes into the mix, it's because there's a **** good reason for it being there. It usually means that there's some kind of major event about to happen.

Now let's say that Ash gets a Legendary Pokemon. Say he gets Ho-Oh. Alright. Now he's got this ridiculously powerful Pokemon that can destroy just about ANY Trainer in the Anime that doesn't have Legendary Pokemon. So now everyone will have to start getting Legendaries in order to balance the equation. With FanFics, it's fine, because each story is its own thing. But in the mainstream Anime, where Ash's journey has been going on for over a decade, that could really change things permanently. So it would have to be handled with the utmost care.
