    There is a possibility that Ash gets two starters in the Sun and Moon series. Why?

    Let's go back to the Black and White series. B/W was pretty much a copy of the original series:

    Ash being inexperienced like the Kanto series;
    He has three starters like the Kanto and Johto series;
    More than six Pokémon like both series again;
    Only one of the starters evolves like in Kanto and Johto series (cindaquil evolved way later);
    The fire starter evolves like in Kanto;
    The starter only evolves to the middle stage and not fully like Johto;
    The first gym leader follows Ash.
    The female companion is also a gym leader in the games.
    Female leader has a goal of becoming the master trainer of a specific type;
    Ash and his friends visit the Decolore Islands like Ash visited the Orange Islands.

    Now let's see what the XY series has in common with the Hoenn series:
    Ash only gets one starter;
    It fully evolves;
    The first gym he visits is where he gets his fifths badge;
    Serena gets a fire starter just like May;
    She, like May again, doesn't know what she wants to be in the beginning.
    One of the companions has a sibling.

    Knowing this I believe that the writers will try to copy Sinnoh for the Sun and Moon series and give Ash two starters. But I can also be wrong
