Would you ever want a return to 2D?

    Obviously Sun and Moon are taking major steps towards a fully 3D environment, which is a step up from the weirdly rendered semi-3D sequences in Gen VI. It's unlikely that the Pokémon series will ever be going backwards in this respect, but how would you feel if it did? Do you, like me, actually prefer the old 2D games or has 3D been a vast improvement in your eyes? And why?

    Personally, I quite like the minimal 3D in Gen IV, but I felt after that it got annoying. Most of the 3D effects were distractingly low resolution, and I want the game to leave my camera angle alone tyvm.

    I love the 3D engine the Pokemon games now run on, but one day I would love a return to 2D for a throwback. It would have to be similar to the FRLG or RSE graphics where it's just purely two dimensional and not incorporating 3D elements into it, that would be amazing.

    I do think the 3D is great, but 2D games are so amazing and have a lot of nostalgia! ♡ I also agree that changing the camera angle is a huge pain. In Lumiose City I don't even bother trying to get from place to place without the taxi, it's a mess.

    Basically, if they made all the games 3D that'd still be cool, but they need to edit some things to make it less annoying. Hah.

        Well, despite my love for the 3D improvement, and all it cames with. :) However I think returning to graphics like BW2 would made me happy too, because, with the 3D, we'll have plenty of features that make a game "too much", I honestly don't like all I've seen for Sun/Moon games, as for the new generation designs, or features like Z-moves and Beasts, it makes me regret 2D games ;-;

    I don't mind really. I usually don't turn on the 3D slider unless I really want to. I get a bit of motion sickness. Whether they do a 2D game or not, I do not mind.

    Pretty much my viewpoint as well. Lumiose caused me physical pain. The game's controls were just not up for that kind of 3D effects and made it absolutely terrible to navigate.

    I really love the 3D and having those kind of visuals (and even more impressively so in this generation) is something I would've killed for (metaphorically speaking, here) back in the day, so yeah.
    Knowing how big a Pokémon fan you are, I don't think that's a metaphor at all. ^_^

    I would, I miss the old school feeling of a 2D experience playing Pokemon on my old DS.
