(Yet Another) Writer's/Artist's Club

    Purpose:
    I did a search and found that there was already a writer's club here, but it seems that its been inactive since the end of May, so I figured it would be alright to start this one, not only because the previous thread is inactive, but also because my purpose is slightly different from the fore-mentioned club. Though I did create this thread for the purpose of discussing writing related things, and ideas, and art related things. I also created it as a kind of extension to the "General Anime and Manga Fan club" thread. If you've seen this thread, then you know that this club will be centered in a New Mexico high school, but will also have a website and a magazine where, among other things, fanworks will be published. The thread mentioned above, though, is one where we mostly discuss technical things. I felt we needed a thread for everyone who was really only interested in submitting fanworks (fan fiction and fan art), and also where we could all discuss things like technique with others with similar intrests.

    How to join
    Well, anyway, now that that's out of the way; here's what you do to join;
    list the anime/manga that you write for or draw for,
    what you'd like your penname to be if you're planning on submitting works to be published, and thus joining the official club.
    *(if you need me to clear any of that up, just ask :) )

    So, is there anyone out there who's interested?
     
    Well, since no one has started a topic of conversation yet, guess I'll do it. I know this is a double-post, but I didn't really want to put this in the opening post.

    Anyway, as for a topic of conversation; what gets you guys inspired to write/draw/create? Whenever I need inspiration, I just turn on my David Bowie music. CDs like "1.Outside" and "Hours..." are particularily good. I mean, it's hard to beat songs like "Hearts Filthy Lesson", "The Motel", "Something in the air", and "The Pretty Things are Going to h-e-l-l" (which you've heard if you've ever seen "Stigmata". It plays in that scene in the dance club when she gets the wounds from the crown of thorns). I don't know what it is, but there's some element in his music that is just really inspiring.

    "You're still breathing but you don't know why..
    You're still breathing but you just can't tell ,
    Don't hold your breath 'cause the pretty things are going
    to h-e-l-l..."

    I just love it. It'll get me writing for hours. So, what inspires you?
     
    I'll join! I write fanfics for Pokemon, and Harry Potter. I have also written my own novel and am working on two others! I don't really have a pen name, and don't wish to disclose my real name... if that's alright.

    I get inspired by classical music. Sometimes, I'll sit at the piano or play my flute for an hour. It really clears my mind and makes it easy to write.

    Something else I do is keep a small pad of paper and a pen next to my bed. Loads of the things that happen in my stories are things that I dream about. If I have an interesting dream, I immediatly sum it up and use it later!
     
    Hey, I'm in. I need to get stuff out, and I think here'd be a good place. I write pretty much whatever, a lot of my own stuff, a few Pokemon fics and I'm working on a Naruto fic. I do a bit of biography stuff and essays as well. Reviews, previews, etc. Just whatever catches and keeps my fancy.

    Anyway, for inspiration, again, just whatever. Dreams, music, TV...Mainly, though, I get good ideas when I'm walking/hiking, on longer car rides, and in particular when I'm doing my kata for Karate. Something about the nature of them just clears my thoughts to the extent that my subconcious can run free. Oh, and for publications, my usual pen name Is Takai.
     
    You guys sound really interesting. So, are you both interested in having your work published by us? If so, I'll reserve your pennames. Mew13, I could just reserve "Mew" or something along those lines if you want. Or you could go as an anonymous writer. Whatever suits your fancy. If you want to do that, I can give you a number, like "anonymous writer 1". Anyway...

    Are you guys working on anything right now? I'm working on a really long Pokemon fanfic. Its at www.thepokemontower.com right now, but it might be published in our club's website/magazine if it gets through editting.

    And since we're talking about writing here, something I like to do is keep a notebook of ideas, thoughts, or sometimes random words that spark ideas. Whenever I get writer's block, I just open one of my notebooks and I'm good for hours. I must've filled up four composition books in just since January. I carry one of them with me wherever I go.

    So, Mew. you've already written a novel? has it been published yet?
     
    I'll write whatever, but I could give you a couple of short fanfics right now, most of them TBC for now. I'd also love to write a political coulmn if you have no issues with that. Or, by any chance is the position of Freaky Gothic/Supernatural style author filled?
     
    Okay, send whatever you want. Just make sure that you put the genre on whatever you send me. Here's my e-mail; [email protected] . I'd like to let you do a political column, but I'll have to talk to the other officers to see what they think first (if I start making decisions without them, they might get kinda ticked off). And sure, you can be the Freaky Gothic/Supernatural Style author; I'll put it by your username when I add your name to the list of members :D

    No, I haven't tried to publish my novel yet. To be perfectly honest, I'm a bit shy about my works....
     
    Don't be shy about your work, Mew! I'm sure that if you put any effort into it, then it's at least ok, if not excellent.

    And The Adamant Dodger, I never got anything from you, today or yesterday. Are you sure you sent it? Well, if you're having problems getting it to that address, just use [email protected] .

    Mew, from what I've read of your work it's good. Don't be shy about putting it up.
     
    I like writing. It's the only way where I can pour my emotions and sometimes enjoy it. Sometimes, when I'm really moody, I write. Things that inspire me the most is when I'm listening to music or just plain thinking.

    I'm making a major fanfic right now...it's estimated to be 71% finished... ^_^
    Otherwise, I have a lot more fanfics... ;)

    So...can I join the club?
     
    You're already in, Oni :laugh: . Don't you remeber signing up on the other thread? You sent me one of your fanfics about a week ago; I believe it was called "Friday". I haven't finished reading it yet, but so far, it looks good.

    So, I suppose you didn't read all of the opening post? :)

    I guess... I have an odd habit of doing that...oh well...
    but I'm happy you're liking Friday. If you want the character profiles of the characters, you can always click the banner in my signature and it has the bios of the characters there...

    It's nice to see someone from my other thread posting on this one too. ^_^. Everyone, Oni's one of the editors of the website/magazine.He (or she) will be editting the action/adventure section.
     
    Pleased to meet you. I suppose we'll become somewhat well acquainted (Adventure/Fantasy is what I usually write). Anyway, hello. Always glad to meet a fellow writer.

    Anyway, I specialize in adventure/ramnce stories. Even though I'm a guy... XP
     
    Don't feel bad about the romance, I have a thing for writing them myself. Particularly crossover romances, I have a thing for Brock/Hatsuharu pairings.
     
    Ah! I have a thing for YellowxGreen ones... (From the manga pokemon special. Yellow is a girl and Green is the Gary look a like)

    Ah. I'll have to check those out. Anyway, in case you're wondering: You should know who Brock is, Hatsuharu (Haru-kun, Haa-chan) is a really cute guy from Fruits Basket (He's the Ox from the Zodiac). You can see him in my avatar.
