[YGO] Dragons FTW!

A Hopeless/Disaster Dragon hybrid should function well.

Sample decklist:

Monsters - 22
3 Blue-Eyes White Dragon
3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
1 Light and Darkness Dragon
1 Prime Material Dragon
3 Red-Eyes Wyvern
2 Exploder Dragon
2 Koa'ki Meiru Drago
2 Masked Dragon
2 The White Stone of Legend
2 Totem Dragon
1 Debris Dragon

Spells - 14
3 Trade-In
2 Book of Moon
2 Gold Sarcophagus
1 Brain Control
1 Burial from a Different Dimension
1 Future Fusion
1 Heavy Storm
1 Mind Control
1 My Body as a Shield
1 Mystical Space Typhoon

Traps - 6
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Mirror Force
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Stun

I'm affraid I'm looking for a Lockdown deck, not a Hopeless/Disaster Hybrid Deck.

Dragons don't play lockdown. They play beatdown.

Unless you want a deck based on Stardust/AM, which is a WHOLE DIFFERENT STORY. :x Then it's not really "lockdown"... it's just Stardust Assault Mode Synchro Spam.

he's right with that statement, dragons are beatdown kind of play.

Its going to be a completely different deck if you wanna play lockdown that doesn't involve archlord krysta, namely Horus and Blizzard dragon, correct me if im wrong, those are the only 2 off the top of my head that locks the opponent down, other than usual stardust negation.

Well, my deck has been pretty good at negation, and yes, dragons do do lockdown. They invole PMD, Stardust Assault Mode, and the Horus Lockdown. But the Horus Combo is a bit too expensive for me right now, so that's why it isn't there. I got my theme here, but it kind of has a half beatdown element to it, based on the powerful cards I can obtain through REDMD.

Prime Material Dragon doesn't lock. Does My Body As A Shield lock? No, it prevents your guys dying to stuff. Prime Material's function is much the same; it protects your more powerful monsters from tricks such as Bottomless, Mirror Force, and Torrential. Half the decks on YuGiOh Wikia are pretty bad, so Idunno... fusing a teched Dragon, a very spotlight-grabbing Dragon, and another either teched or spotlight-grabbing Dragon is rather... awkward. If you want to do a pseudo-lock build you might as well do Blizzard Dragon and White Night Dragon focus (Frozen Ray!). Horus is decent, but Horus Lock is silly and not very difficult to break. Ryko was side-decked by 4 out of 5 of the top-ranking Infernities duelists last SJC, and was main-decked by most/all Dandydraw decks. X-Sabers deal with Horus via Faultroll + Gottoms, and you are basically powerless to stop it. Stardust/AM? Not very consistent or good unless you have a deck focused around it. And that deck isn't going to have many Dragons.

Depending on what kind of people you are playing against, your deck is either decent or completely bad. It has no semblance of consistency (Dread Dragon?! DREAD DRAGON?! Blue-Eyes without support?! Lord of D.?! Dandylion in DRAGONS? No Koa'ki Meiru Drago or Totem Dragon or Exploder, the bread and butter of all good Dragon decks? Staples!), has weird tech choices (Tuner's Scheme against Frognarchs or Frog OTK for example), and has subpar cards to boot (Sakuretsu over D-Prison, Draining Shield, Polymerization). It isn't a good deck, unless you're ONLY playing casual.

Of course casually this deck is decent to good. But that's irrelevant.

Well, that's it updated, and hopefully a lot better. C&C still gratefully accepted.

  • I'm a bit concerned with Koa'ki Meiru Drago's effect making Red Eyes Wyvern useless and stopping you from Special Summoning Darkness Metal Dragon.
  • Too many copies of White Night Dragon, though I'm not keen on the card myself. I'm a bit worried about dead draws with the higher levels, so Trade-In might be worth looking into, but also maybe not.
  • Try dropping in a Dragon's Mirror or two. Lighten up the Traps and beef up the Spells. Drop Magic Cylinder for something more useful. Think of using a copy of Burial from a Different Dimension, since a lot of your cards will be removed from play later on. Try Return from the Different Dimension too if you use Dragon's Mirror / a lot of Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon summons.
  • Try splashing a Tuner in there (Plaguespreader? White Stone of Legend?).
  • Wyvern isn't the best card out there, but it's usable. It does, however, limit your summoning and leaves your monster vulnerable for the next turn. Consider dropping him for a different card.
  • A disgusting combo I like to use personally is Future Fusion on three White Stone of Legend, Totem Dragon(s) and / or Red-Eyes Wyvern(s) to get an instant 3 cards in my hand and then removing from play stuff to special Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon... Though, not many people feel the same way about that :P Don't do it though. I was just pointing it out.

Updated again. Looking pretty good now. I reckon I still need more help though, so C&C still appreciated.
