Currently its franchise is taking over Pokemon.
Its said that the first game wasn't popular until the Anime boost its popularity.
But again With great script and catchy Opening song , Its no doubt it got so popular with children.



If Keita friend get involve and has an adventure to save the world (Without being serious) , Then I guess it can suppress Doreamon.

Doraemon started in the 60s and is still massively popular today, I think it might be slightly too early to be thinking like that. I mean there are still loads of kiddy franchises bigger than this.

Those actor things are pretty funny, but it isn't like the Japanese audience wouldn't get those references.

According to this - Jibanyan is more popular then Pikachu in Japan.

The cute and popular Yo-kai Watch character vying for Pikachu's crown is ghost cat Jibanyan, who can now be found on lunch packs, candy boxes, and of course at meet-and-greets in shopping malls around Japan. When one mall booked Pikachu and Jibanyan to appear at the same time on the same day, the difference in numbers was stark, as this Twitter user reported:

"You can just go up and touch Pikachu, but Jibanyan [is so popular he] needs his own queueing and ticketing system."

Jibanyan is the mascot of Youkai watch by the way .

Even I find him funnier ! Probably because he can talk which allow to him to create more joke and Youkai Watch not really a Battle Anime where the Protagonist trying to achieve a Goal .
