Every YGO related forum got one of these at the very least, and so why shouldn't we? Even if this topic is beat-down to death, it deserves a bit of light...

So really, share your methods to go against the upcoming Gadgets Galore!

    a) Royal Decree

At least you shut down the Sakuretsu Armor, Bottomless Traphole, Widespread Ruin, Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force and Ring of Destruction. That's basically 1/4 of the deck. Plus, it's essential to protect Phoenix and Vampire Lord from the Bottomless Traphole (though you still can't do anything about DDWL and DDA)

    b) Sacred Phoenix of Nepthyr

People mentioned this tons... though I honestly doubt its reliability. With it being a high tribute, and easily destroyed by a DDWL/DDA suicide run... Nevertheless, until then, Phoenix reigns triumph over the Gadget's spells and traps.

    c) Chain Disappearance

Someone mentioned this, how this card can breka the Gadget's cycle... but then I personally don't like it because it's just feeding Pot of Avarice and Overload Fusion. Plus, the Gadgets still got some time if you send all copies of only one gadgets to the graveyard. Nevertheless, it's a thought.

    d) King Tiger Wanghu

It can't do jack against the spells and traps tradeoff, but it does instantly wipe out the Gadgets.

    e) Deck Devastation Virus

Basically, strips the entire deck of monsters besides a few staples and the Cyber Dragons for a few rounds, but again if it's done too early, it's only feeding Pot of Avarice. You really have to try to press on during the three turns to almost end the game right there.

    f) Chain Strike Burn

Really if you got no monsters, their simplification spell becomes useless. Half their deck is wasted. The gadget's slow damage output without Ultimate Offering may be your free win.

So, what are your secret methods to take out the Gadgets besides using them yourself?

    g) 4-Stared Ladybug of Doom

Bye-bye gadgets. If you've swarmed up the field with those alone in hopes of a simple Limiter Removal rush then you're going to get seriously pissed when you flip into this one. =P

    h) Prohibition

I dare say that a ban on Ultimate Offering or one of the gadgets would slow down the build-up quite a bit.

    i) Divine Wrath

To break the chain of searching right at the beginning. Won't work if your opponent is holding multiple gadgets with Ultimate Offering on the field, though. :\

    j) Mask of Restrict

It can't touch the gadgets, but it will completely eliminate their usefulness as tribute fodder. This would require a specialized deck to be effective, though. Personally, I've always thought that this is a cool card, but I've never found a way to use it properly. xD

Overall, I'd say that Deck Destruction Virus and King Tiger Wanghu are your best bets for this kind of pest control, but then again...odds are I'll be proven wrong soon. ^^

The power of Gadgets does not lie in the effect of the monsters. They're pitiful and helpless on the field. It's the concept that the deck always gurantee that they got "some monster" in the hand, as long as they start off with 1, then they can draw spells/traps all they want and still have at least 1 monster. Ultimate Offering is just one small alternative ot the mainstream of forcing 1-1 simplications until you lost your hand while he still got a hand of gadgets.

Divine Wrath won't work, because it's a 2-for-1, and that's even better for the Gadget player if you use it against them. You're only speeding up the hand depletion faster.

Also, gadgets will never tribute for anything. They just want to put the gadgets on to the field, then unleash every single monster destruction they got, and slowly peck you away. Ultimate Offering and Overload Fusion are only to speed up the deck, but not the focus of it.

    b) Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys >:O

People mentioned this tons... though I honestly doubt its reliability. With it being a high tribute, and easily destroyed by a DDWL/DDA suicide run... Nevertheless, until then, Phoenix reigns triumph over the Gadget's spells and traps.

You of all people should know that I know the multiple uses of this card. It has a good chance of a comeback.

Deck Devastation Virus is always a considered card.

Asura Priest is always a good option of clearing the field from the Gadgets swarm. Also it's attack is higher than all of the Gadgets so the damage cal always add up. But it's downfall is the fact that it's a spirit monster. So it just may be good for the side deck.

But the best card I believe that can kill the Gadgets. *favorite*

    D.D Designator. ^_^

I'm personally not too afraid of the monster section of Gadgets. The strongest they get is Cyber Dragon, then it's Breaker with the counter and Chiron at 3rd. The rest are your effect only monsters such as your 9 Gadgets, Sangan, DDWL, Exiled Force, and possibly Sniper Hunter with DDA. Really, the monster setup is not too strong by themselves...

It's the threatening endless stream of monster destruction that I'm most afraid of. You can wipe out all of their monsters with a single King Tiger Wanghu with a Cyber Dragon, yet your 2 monsters' effort is futile because the backrow is loaded, or he'll get you int he end with smashing ground and fissure. Usually computer AI sucks crap, but Stronghold in the 2006 GBA did actually beat me a few times (screw him, that's the only one I got 2 losses in... i didn't lose against all the others ;; ).

    So yeah >>;

Not looking down on Phoenix, but sometimes if an anti-solution is too hyped up, then all the anti-"anti-solution"-solution comes up. Phoenix is like, first answer to the gadgets cause it's invincible against all monsters (VLord dies to Cyber Dragon) without Rush Recklessly, and it's immune ot Gadget's monster destruction... with power like that, don't you think Gadgets will load every possible solution against PHoenix if possible?

The Gadgets can defeat Phoenix, more due to Shrink giving the chance of destroying Phoenix in battle. In the Asian metagame that is. But it may not be that different for the other parts of the world. Though Shrink is released(SJC), it's not fully available to the world which may give Phoenix a edge.

But there are countless options, so we may lot know what will come. Or even cards such as Card Destruction can be a counter.

If there is Shrink, then technically Gadgets can't lose in battle, but I said that they can because shrink isn't common. If you treat SJC rare as "accessible" then Gadgets will just add 2 tomato and 2 snipe hunter with Sangan to use Crush Card Virus x2.

Elemental Hero Wildheart + Spell Canceller w/Metalmorph

Seriously...um, my usual answer to decks, I guess--Kycoo. Remove monsters killed, at the same time freezing my opponent's RFGs in place (taking care of PoA and Overload Fusion in one fell swoop). Takes care of Phoenix, Chaos, Cosmos to an extent, usually Swarm...

I haven't run into a Gadget deck yet. I honestly haven't even SEEN one.

Nah, thought about wildheart, but then Cyber Dragon, Snipe Hunter and CHiron the Mage runs it over ><; Jinzo/Horus remains the most reliable in terms of a monster that stands against the entire Gadget deck as a whole. Both of them are obviously vulnerable to Snipe Hunter, but so is every single card in existance anyway.
