I have just wrote about a problem that I feel and think is affecting the whole community. Please read this, especialy for those who have not noticed this.

Ok, I don't like to be mean but in the emulation forums on this site, well actually about every forum. The moderators are so uptite and strict about the rules, its rediculous. If you don't believe me, see for yourself. Practically all the threads that people make in the emulation forum are closed. Yah, I know they close them because they don't follow rules, or the question there asking may be on a different thread or it may already be answered, well ya know what? The search engine on this site isn't exactly great, in my opinion, it sucks, I can never find what I'm looking for, even when I type the simplist key word, I still cant find it. And when people can't find what there looking for, they create a thread to ask a question or talk about something. But, then the moderators come and some how magically find a thread where somebody already asked that question or already talked about that. Then they either close your thread, or mabye if your lucky, they move it. And when they move it, most the time they move it to an area where it probly doesn't belong. I've had stuff moved to different threads and forums, and people go and ask "Why in the world was this moved here?". Its rediculous, you don't have to believe me, but I had to say somethin. I think the moderator's are abusing there pivileges. But what can I do about it.

Yes I know, rules are there for a reason, but just because there are rules doesn't mean that they have to be put into so much force. "Oh my gosh, somebody double posted, call the Moderators!!!!!" "The worlds gonna end because somebody asked the same question as somebody esle, Nooooooooooo" Thats how it is, and know, the strictness is being rubbed off on us, the community. We know become so angry when somebody steps one foot out of line and yes, there are a few pleases and thank you's, but it isn't enough.

But before some of you guys go and reply to this and contridict me, go see an example. Click this link and when you arrive, scroll down and see how many posts are closed and what not.

Know, I dont know if the "Moderatos" will close this thread, but reply and tell me what you think about this problem. Just tell me if you agree,or disagree. Or you can right something really long explaining if your going with or against my opinion, I don't care which. I just felt that I had to say something, something has to be done.

    Thanx for reading.

CALM DOWN!!! goos-fra-ba! goos-fra-ba! goos-fra-ba! I kinda do not agree with you. Rules are Rules! you must accept that.

Well my point was that I think Moderators are abusing there privilages, and some are even breaking the rules that they strictly folow. I just read a thread called "I got something..." In this know closed thread a community member was bannened for two weeks without notice or reason of punishment. He told the story, and has demanding an explanation. A moderator came along told him of his reasons of punishment which were spamming and using words offensively. Then another moderator came, but the cummunity maber was now wantiing proof, evidence of his crimes. The moderator told him, and gave proof, and some more information. But then the CM (community member) was becoming smart mouthed, and snappy. A few or more posts had gone and the moderator closed the thread. But my point is how the moderator handled the situation. After becoming tired of the CM'c actions, he replied with a very immature statement.

"I can accept sarcasm. I can also accept someone having a bad attitude and acting like a cocky, pompous, egotistical jerk."

The moderator had basically called the CM a "cocky, pompous, egotistical jerk"
That right there is belittling a person, which is against the rules. In my case, more proof to back up my opinion.

    Well, that's because he was.

When someone tries to give such a ridiculous excuse for posts that clearly infringed the rules so much to warrant a ban, he becomes a wiseass. And we treated him as such.

The lesson in that topic should have been that there is no way to defend flaming in these forums. As such, we will not tolerate insubordination.

Yah, any other person would do the same thing. But you guys are moderators, you a more superior than us. You have a title to live up to, doing something like that is rediculous in my opinion.

We're human. We're also not stiff and stuck on ourselves and totally professional 100% of the time. We enforce the rules, but who says that we have to act like robots when we do? If someone is displaying a poor attitude (i.e. "being a pompous, egotistical jerk"), then we tell them the truth instead of totally ignoring it. Deal with it.

Er, you've only pulled out one example from one specific part of the forum. The abuse of moderating privileges, thus, doesn't go with every other moderator. Try PMing those you have personal problems with, and don't direct the blame on the entire staff.. :/

Again, my point being, you inforce the rules so much, why shouldn't you have to follow them as strictly as you inforce them. When we brake the rules, we get in trouble, even if it was an accident, we get a warning, ban, or mabye nothing. I look up to you guys, and so do alot of other people, but when we see things like that of which I just explained, we get discuraged. In a way, its sad.

    Oh, and Lily.
The reason why I don't PM the certain moderators is because of all this. If I were to PM the specific Moderators that I have problems with them, they (like us) would become angry, not always, but 95% of the time probably. Sometimes they would become more than angry, they may even hold a grudge against me. So, seeing how some moderators act here, if they were angry with me, they would retaliate with mabye a warning, or something like that. So by not posting specific names, I save myself from certain moderators.

Well, if you'd stop thinking about us so negatively, then just maybe you wouldn't have that problem.

I don't think about you negatively. Like I said, I look up to you guys, but because you have just assumed that, I have become a little agitated. But because of the rules, I can not say anything that my mind speaks to me.

By not posting specific names, you neglect the possibility and reasoning behind your assumption that 95% of the time, moderators will become 'angry.' Ironically, I think you just initiated something by complaining against the entire staff in a thread. o_o; Seriously. Don't assume that they'll get all hissy at you. PM them, inform them of your problems with respect, and they'll [95% of the time, rofl] respond in the same matter..

You have every right to challenge a moderator's decision, and that we will not abridge, as long as you do so in a manner that doesn't just throw an accusation. Instead of accusing us of being uptight, you could have just asked kindly if we could allow more leniency. You can also stop assuming that everone is angry; I would rather like to think that most people here are willing to follow our rules and have decided to stay here whilst subject to them.

I know you think the Mods are hard, and stiff, and stuff, but you have to get used to it. Unless you have carefree parents, you would get the same response, whether it was an accident or not. And not all the Mods are bad, I'm sure some are good. And maybe they might be having a bad day and lash out on someone on the computer, since they don't know truly who they are (one of my excuses heh heh).
So, a mod closed your thread, big deal! It's because you broke a rule... and you have to learn from your own mistakes... You have to get over it...
I'm trying to say this in the nicest possible way, but get over it! If you can't handle the mods, go open your own forum. I'm sure you'd hate people messing up and being stupid... and you'd tell them the truth too... We're only human!
And I was in a ban, because i broke the rules. I have to accept that, and i have, and holding a grudge is, well, wrong. Forgive and Forget i always say, and always have done...

By not posting names, any moderator that sees this will become informed, and the ones that take action in breaking the rules may have not noticed that they might be braking rules. Like us, probably many moderators do many things on accident which I acknowledge. But there are moderators who know there actions, and by reading this, they may realize (If they have not already) that the community notices these actions.

And Lily, I said that 95% of the they might become angry. Why, because there human, its in the nature of any human to become angry when somebody tells you things they don't like you doing. I'm not assuming, I just don't want to take a chance.

Actually, it would've been better of you to inform those specific moderators instead of opening this issue to the public, which is currently causing greater problems than it would've if you had PMed those people. It's too late now, of course, but...

Also, human nature can't really be calculated through statistics alone, and if you know they're going to be angry, then at least supply constructive criticism to back up your qualms with how things are run. To many, your post sounds like blatant accusations without proof. I understand you don't necessarily agree with everything, but that's fine! Just state so reasonably and politely, and they'll treat you the same. You won't have to worry about anger, and if you do, then that's the staff's fault for replying negatively. This isn't, however, the case as of now.

Ryder, this about abusing privilages, but the more this thread grows, the more I see that I may have been wrong from the very beginning. But since the biginning, I have accepted the chance that I may be wrong. Yes, I have had my share of closed threads, but this is not concerning me, its concerning the whole community.

    Hmmmmmmmm, yes.
It would seem that from the beginning, it would of been better if I would of just PM'ed the Moderators. And the more people that go against my opinion, the more I see that I am most likely wrong. But this all was my opinion, it was my opinion that I was speeking for the whole community, it was my opinion that some moderators were abusing there privilages, it was my opinion, and I take full responsibilty for my actions. So, before this matter becomes even more out of hand, I wish that anyone of the moderators that contributed to this to kindly close this rediculous thread.

    Thank you everyone.
