You get them everytime you get 100 rep points, and for a lighter shaded one it's every 200 rep points. ^^
Most things are explained in the rep FAQ.

Oh yeah, rep update, I now have 3922 rep points. ^^

Sorry but this thread is going to be closed. The last one was closed due to random-rep-giving making it just a rep-abuse thread, and even after warnings the same thing is happening in this one.
I checked over five people's rep-giving from this thread, and every one had given pointless rep in this thread (at that point i gave up coz i knew i'd find the same thing)
The point of rep is to appreciate others' posts, not to pointlessly give as members are aiming for a certain number. It's a nice little system, and it'd be great if people would really start to appreciate it.
Guys, no more rep threads. All it does is encourage pointless rep-giving, which just adds to other members' issues with the rep system.
