    Hey everyone,

We have been introduced to the new Mega Evolutions in the Pokemon X and Y games. Some people prefer to use them, others don't and some Mega Evolutions are more well-liked than others. There might be still some Pokemon who "deserve" a Mega Evolution (some Pokemon who don't have an evolution for example) while other Pokemon don't (like Garchomp imo).

But, the following got me thinking. Along with Mega Evolution, the types of Pokemon changes along with it (in some cases). Sometimes it's for the best because some Pokemon will get another (dual)type when they Mega Evolve and this dual-type is actually a great addition to their original type (like Charizard X being Fire/Dragon, finally).
But for some other Pokemon, who also get another secondary-type, I think it's kind of a weird, misplaced or unecessary choice of Pokemon-type. For example, before the games were released but by the time some new Mega Evolutions were known, I never would have thought Gyarados would change from Water/Flying to Water/Dark (Water/Dragon would have been way better imo) and Mega Ampharos is partially Dragon, which I found very odd.

So, I was kinda wondering what you guys think of the currently known Mega Evolutions and their type settings. Most Pokemon types don't change (like Mega Garchomp and Mega Abomasnow), but for the ones that have been changed, or SHOULD have been changed, what do you think about those? Should all type settings change after a Mega Evolution, or do you think some other dual-type would have been more appropriate with a specific Pokemon? :)

I think Pinsir was really fortunate to recieve his typing and abilities...outside of the Stealth Rock weakness that is. And unlike his Bug-type brethren, he actually deserved his Mega Evolution status. The added Flying-type coverage, along with the ability to boost Normal-type attacks into Flying ones has given him some better coverage.

Shame it's still only a good Pokemon at best and not great. I was quite saddened when my Sableye was able to take one down through stall alone.

Dual-typing was a good option for Mega Evolution. We all were dumbfounded when we learned that Charizard could not be a dragon, but its X form was somewhat of a relief. It can give Pokémon somewhat more of an advantage in battling.

The more I look at Gyarados, the less I think of him as a dragon. I wouldn't have expected Water/Dark, but it's a cool typing, and I think it fits Mega Gyarados fine. What really bothers me, however, is the fact that he continues to fly after he mega evolves. He can't participate in Sky Battles in the first place, so what's the reason behind that...?

As much as I love old pokemon gaining new types, it also kinda bothers me how they can gain it within 4-5 seconds (in addition to completely changing appearance) and then go back to their original typing again. I know, I know, it's Pokemon... but I hate when things don't make sense like that.
