Went through the entire game with only 5 pokemon (didnt get umbreon til after elite 4) and never used a starter- traded my starter right away for a friend's lv 5 absol because I didnt like the hoenn starters back then. Of course we didnt realise the absol had been born with flamethrower, bite(?) and shadowball til later...I think it was shadowball anyway
