I wasn't really looking for a which is better. I really just want to know which has a better character growth/development in terms of Gon and Yuuske. Both anime a group of teammates so to speak and all characters had some growth and development as a charcter and both are classics....just was wondering which gave more in-depth in your opinion?

I believe that Yu Yu Hakusho had a lot more development. Personally I think it is that way because Yu Yu Hakusho was a lot longer than Hunter x Hunter is today. However, in terms of a series, I like both of them for different reasons and I really can't decide which I like more. I find them both to be excellent series and like almost all the characters that come from both of them, the only exceptions being Keiko and Kurapica. Kurapica because he sort of reminds me of Sasuke with less of an attitude and Keiko reminds me of Orihime, who does basically does nothing besides cry and cry as she screams "Kurosaki-kun!" even though she has the potential to be the most powerful character in the series...

Nice comparison with Keiko and Orihime. Though I may have to disagree with Kurapica and Sasuke just a little.....only because as far as character development goes, I think they gave a whole arc dedicated to Kurapica's past and him getting revenge on the spiders and the lengths he would go through to get that revenge. Although we learn about Sasuke's past all through the anime, we only got bits and pieces of it,
