    [PokeCommunity.com] yvetal and lugia theory

as you can see yvetal and lugia have some striking similarities. they both have the same body design, five fingers a pointy thing on or near thier eyes, and a foot with three limbs.

Lugia's pokedex entry for emerald states:Lugia is so powerful even a light fluttering of its wings can blow apart houses. As a result, it chooses to live out of sight deep under the sea.
this clearly shows how destructive this pokemon can be.
yvetal is known as the pokemon of destruction, which goes along with this entry for lugia.

another point to bring up is that johto was focused more on ancient past. yvetal was a pokemon created by man over 3000 years ago.

yvetals typing would be able to defeat lugia, because it is dark flying, while lugia is psychic flying.

also in japan dark type is evil type.

with this evidence i conclude that yvetal is an evil modification of lugia.

It is an interesting theory. I don't think it's true though, since they are a bit too different to seem related. Mew and Mewtwo are still pretty alike, as another example.

And if it was so, I think they'd have made Xerneas and whatever that Z pokémon legend was called, modifications of other pokémon as well. Cobalion and Rayquaza, perhaps?

I've never noticed this, actually, until you mentioned it. xD They do have a lot of similarities, don't they? The only major difference is their color schemes. One is white and blue, while the other is black and red, the complete opposite. They also have some differences at the bottom part of their bodies, but those aren't too noticeable.

Scientists might have created Yveltal with the help of Lugia's DNA, maybe. Sort of like how they've invented Mewtwo with Mew's DNA. If the theory is true though, then I could see them put it into good use by making it a part of one of their future Pokémon movies or anime episodes. :) They could have it in their manga, but that probably wouldn't be a good idea. Outside of Japan, not many people seem to follow it, so, yeah. The last time I've ever seen someone read a Pokémon manga out in the United States was five to six years ago, which is a long time.

Except that Yvetal wasn't man-made? It was utilized by AZ to power his ultimate weapon, but I don't think it was ever mentioned that Yvetal was created by people.

This would be a pretty solid theory, but there is one problem: we already have an evil modification of Lugia.

This is Shadow Lugia, and he's from Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness. The Pokémon team has already explored the concept of a dark Lugia wreaking havoc, why would they do it again?

Here's a thought: What if it's not Lugia, but the shadow Lugia from XD? What if??... Nah, what I see is Groudon colors used, and some claws, and it's in a Y shape.

Darn... and I was getting excited.

This reminds me of how some suggested that Lugia was related to the Eon duo...also reminds me of how I thought Togekiss was connected to the Eon duo (as they have those red and blue triangles...plus the airplane like wings...)
