basically i know why o got kakuna and metapod(bug catching contest) by why did I find a random shiney hoot hoot in victory road?...ios it a glitch or can that just happen normally?

(sorry i'm not too hot on the shiney scene)

Is that so odd? The only odd thing I find about what you said is that the Hoothoot was in Victory Road, but I'm not sure about what can or cannot be found in Victory Road.

Everytime you run into a Pokemon, it has a very low chance of being shiny. In RS and above, the chance is 1/8192. I'm not sure if that's the chance in GSC though.

it seems alot more common is GSC, I have like 8 odd shineys other than gyrados...but I only ever saw 1 shiney on ruby which i killed accidently

I think they lowed the percentage of shinies found in the newer versions. Probably to make more of a challege and keep you interested in the game longer. I have a few shinies on GSC also.

    That's true !
I had about 4 shining pokemon in the silver game + plus one had didn't catch, it was at the beginning, a blue ditto, i had only five pokeballs and one greatball...
    I didnt catch it...
...hum...And i only catch one shining pokemon in the ruby version( a gold barboach)
    + the one i killed, ( **** critical hit)...
I have played about 400 hours in the ruby game and 500 in the silver one(could be this)...But like you, i think they lowered the ratio...

yeah, my ruby must have around 400 hours of play...my silver has 42 or somehting
