I think a lot of what made Silver so good to me was just playing it at the right age lol I was a little too young when I played RBY, but when Silver came out I would've been in 3rd or 4th grade and so I definitely was much more able to enjoy it as more than just "collect weird creatures" hah It also just had a lot of places that I liked, like the ruins, and the daycare, and I really love Gen 2 pokemon in general and think they're very underrated!

Gen 2 really did have a lot of good Pokemon! And Crystal was a great game! (never played Silver) I just wish the remakes were as good as the originals... Anyway, I also know what you mean by 'playing them a little too young', my first experience with the series happened when I was like 3 or 4 when my cousin gave me his old GBA and a copy of Yellow along with it as a hand-me-down. I legitimately thought that Attack/Defence lowering moves lasted forever, so I ended up with an almost full team of Rattatas and Pidgeys just bumbling around the first few areas forever. I don't even think I battled Brock once... I ended up trading it and a few other games in for something else years later... Around 13/14 I decided to give the series another try though, and got lucky finding a copy of Rire Red in a pawn shop! Loved the series ever since.

Have you ever tried a challenge run or a Nuzlocke of a Pokemon game?

I never played Soul Silver but I always wanted to! Surprised to hear they're not very good :/ But yeah I was definitely in like 2nd grade when I got the original trilogy, and it was a lot harder for me to understand then lol But by the time I played Silver, I was, well, not smarter cause I'm not smart, but...more well versed in gaming at least? I did somehow wind up beating BRY, but I can't for the life of me tell you HOW I managed that. Games have always made more sense than life to me, though, so.

I've never tried a challenge run or a Nuzlocke, only because I don't restart my games. However, I might be interested in doing that sort of thing on an emulator eventually cause it sounds like a lot of fun!

Oh, there are plenty of people that will tell you the remakes of Gen 2 are the best in the series, I just personally do not care for them at all. That being said, Crystal is my second favorite in the series, so anyone that tries to say 'You just don't like Gen 2!' is super wrong hahaha. You might really like them if you ever give them a shot though, don't just take my word for it! 👍

My recommendation is to start with Fire Red/Leaf Green, they don't have a lot of story dialog boxes to mash through, no cutscenes, no really high level requirement to win, (mid to late 50s is sufficient) all in all even if you lose the challenge, you won't lose a lot of time getting the hang of how they work.

Hello. I'm Mae. I am new here, cause I wanted a good community surrounding Pokemon and this seemed like the best choice. How are you all? My favorite game is Silver - though Crystal and Sword are close runner ups - and my favorite pokemon are Murkrow, Sableye, Smeargle, Celebi and Unown. Please be patient with me as I'm a little slow. I also just started watching the Journeys series and it's really a lot of fun.

Hello! I greeted you in your introduction thread!
Silver and Gold are great games indeed! The second generation is my third favourite after Red's and Black 2's! I will always fondly remember playing it on TV screen with colors thanks to Pokémon Stadium 2 and its special adapter for paddles, allowing playing the game on Nintendo 64!

Hello! I just recently started making sprites of creatures that are heavily inspired by pokemon and old games like DQ monsters and FF legends.

And hello to you Willibab89, and welcome to the PC!

What are you making these creatures for? A game project? Just for fun? Do you have a favorite creature you've designed?

Anyway, hope you have a good time!

I love your stuff! just saw your deviantart page. honestly super impressive. you've got a ton of personality in those small designs and that's what made classic pokemon sprites so successful.

Hello there GalacticActualYT, and welcome to the PC!

You are much better off making a thread about this in the site's Trade Corner section, that way people looking to make trades can see it.

Anyway, was it just those Pokemon that brought you here? Any plans to stick around?

Hey, what's up? I'm Tony and I quilt. Long story short, I can pretty much cut and sew regular squares together in my sleep now, so I've decided to attempt a series of pixel perfect sprite quilts from Pokemon Gold/Silver of different friends' favorite pokemon for the Winter Solstice holidays. If it goes well this may be something that I may do more of so I have some questions about working with the sprite sheets from a non-technical perspective. I may also post pictures of the progress on the different quilts if that's something people'd be into.

Hello there Tony, and welcome to the PC!

I have absolutely no idea where you would even begin to start looking for Pokemon sprite info, (maybe somewhere in one of the Fangames sections?) but as for where to post pictures of your creations, there is the site's Art Studio section where people post all sorts of things like that.

About what's up ? Well, I am currently working on my next interview!
Don't hesitate to share images of your Pokémon sprite quilts in the Art Studio section, indeed!
Do you have some favourite Pokémon ?
Also, good luck finding the answers you seek!
