Rain. I know I heard the stories about how the moment you need a sligoo to evolve no rain appears anywhere in the overworld ever, but I'm hoping someone can help! First off, I found the trick about setting your clock to Monday before 1pm and route 14 (I think) always rains, however, I don't want to do that because I am growing berries and am in the middle of trying to get some time based items and don't want to mess anything up (such as killing berries all of which I only have 1 of as I brought a shipment over from ORAS) or delaying the time based items for a day or two. SO, since as soon as cheats appear no site anywhere bothers to be clear in their posting anymore because "let's all just use the cheat to make things easy!" does anyone knwo the mechanics of rain? Should I check each route every couple of hours? if it doesn't rain one time during the day it won't ever rain that entire 24 hour period? Any insight? Cause all Bulbapedia says is a list of routes where it says it rains "Some Days" with an asterix by the first instance ( https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Rain ) and no further explanation, footnote or mention about what the asterix means, just the super vague "Some days" so again, do I check back every hour or two? Once a day? What? The only insight I have is when trying to EV train for Defense and using Sweet Scent, it will ALWAYS rain as soon as you try to use Sweet Scent more than once, but I have nothing to EV train at the moment, so I'm hoping other people have advice. thanks!

And are you sure about the gold Writ? Becuase Serebii Says ( https://www.serebii.net/xy/battlechateau.shtml ) that it increases the number of trainers that come to the chateau AND it increases prize money, as does the description of the Silver Writ. Even if it doesn't, All I know is that you buy both Gold AND Silver Writs and the Red Writ and there are literally trainers coming every minute or so. I was just wondeirng if the NORMAL Writ of Invitation also stacks or if it's just Silver, Gold and one of the coloured writs? I was running around because I saw my last trainer was announced as having just arrived so I ran past Ramos who had also just appeared it seemed, fought the one battle and by the time I came back to find Ramos, he had disappeared.
Bulbapedia says that the gold writ just increases the money you get, while the silver one just increases the rate of people coming in so....

I'm not certain if the normal writ does in fact stack with them, but I don't really see why it wouldn't either.

It apparently rains a lot on Route 19, so if you need rain try there. I unfortunately do not know how exactly the trigger or mechanics for rain works in XY so I can't tell you about that. Can't really find anything online even.

It' something that could be researched though.....

Oh also the asterisk on the page you linked, if you hover over it, reads "except after beating the Anistar Gym, during the final clash with Team Flare".

Ah okay thanks! When I hovered over the Asterisk all I got was a 3D "?" symbol. Anyway, I have another question, is there any place that I can fight repeatable double battles? I used to use Restaurant Le Nah, but the problem is the lowest level pokemon I have is level 40 - 50 while everything there is level 10 so the double moves I want to use keep KOing everything before Smeargle can sketch

Le Wow and Sushi High Roller both do Double battles as well, with Pokemon in the low 60's or so. Other than that I don't think that there's any other repeatable double battles (besides Battle Institute/Maison) in the game.

Awesome, thank you very much! Now that I have my Farmer smeargle (which is why I needed the double battles) I need some help finding the items. Serebii says that Smooth Rock, Icy Rock and Damp Rock are found in various caves my using Surf or Muddy Water on Stalagmites, however no mater which move I use, I ONLY find Damp Rocks. Do I have to be in a different cave to get different items or what? I'm going on 10 damp rocks now (anyone need any, btw?) but never any other kind. Even the boulders have given me a mix of Hard and Float stones.

Any insight onto why a Poliwrath belonging to a Duke in the Battle Chateau has a 100% hit rate with Dynamic Punch? Nothing in the Battle Chateau holds any items (other than Diantha's Gardevoir) and it did use Mind Read on me the first turn, which explains the first time Dynamic Punch hit me, but not the additional FOUR turns in a row where Dynamic Punch hit me. Any idea why it might have been able to hit me so often? I miss roughly 50% of the time whenever I use a move with 90% accuracy, but they were hitting me 100% of teh time with their 50% accuracy.

    I really believe it's a terrible luck. :(

If you think it has an Ability that affects its Accuracy, you can always check its Ability through Trace. Though I vaguely recall that Poliwrath missing his Dynamic Punch on me for more than once, but it's been long since I last went to Battle Chateau so I can't really verify much.

You can also conduct an experiment like using Double Team and attaching Bright Powder on your own Pokemon while battling that wicked/lucky Poliwrath.

  • I'm pretty sure that's actually a female trainer who uses it, Duchess Odele, to be exact. And I know Poliwrath doesn't have any abilities that affect its accuracy either.

It was rather unfortunate to get hit by a move with 50 Accuracy continuously. I'd like to clarify what I meant earlier, in case I wasn't clear enough: I do believe that Poliwrath wasn't erroneously given a wrong Ability (like the infamous Earthquake Lanturn from Emerald) as well.

On a slight positive way to look at it, at least those five perfect Dynamic Punch didn't happen at Battle Maison.

You're right! I thought it was a Duke but it WAS a Duchess, I just looked it up on Bulbapdia and I do remember that Stupid Golem first turn using Explosion on me as well, lol!

That's a good idea, next time I'm on a streak there I will keep a Trace pokemon with me to check out it's ability, just to make sure, cause that really is ridiculously bad luck! Mind Reader still only works for the next turn, right? It's not a multi turn or permanent increase this gen or anything, right?

My understanding on the move Mind Reader is that it affects the user's move on the very next turn and for only one turn. Should you use an item or non-attacking moves, the Mind Reader effect will not be retained.

Unless they changed the effect or I'm too stupid to understand. Lmao

  • Should I pick up both X/Y?

    Hey guys,

so I currently own Alpha Sapphire as my first 3ds game. I am currently playing through it at the moment but I usually love to catch and use all pokemon once and sometimes even try hackmons (i.e pokemon with any move/ability) for some fun, but I want to be able to breed and catch legal pokemons instead of hacking them in before experimenting. So I was thinking of picking up a second gen 6 game.

Now If I want to be able to catch them all, would I need to own both X/Y and a copy of OR? Can i trade with myself with one 3ds? I own the other generation but they are of course emulated and some are hacked roms so its not like i can transfer them legally even if it was possible.

So what should a brother do?

There are version exclusives, but the bulk of the national Pokedex you can get yourself. You can trade with yourself via the PokeBank or the GTS (PokeBank is far and away the better option imo). And a lot of the rest you can probably get via GTS trades or trades with people here on PC. So I'd think that you'd really only need to get either X or Y and not both.

btw moved your thread into the XY Q&A thread

  • This has already been asked but I didn't see the answer to it, but here it is again:
"you previously used a different copy of pokemon X, Y, OR or AS, please try again using ~RNC~'s pokemon X, Y, OR or AS game trainer ID #64283"
This is the game I have in, why am I getting that message?

Is that an error message from Pokémon Bank? Anyway, after a quick Google research, I found this...
Today I called Nintendo Support. I got right through to a person. He was able to recover my Pokemon Bank in under ten minutes. They will have you try to use Pokemon Bank, then hold a combination of buttons. A reset code appears, but this is not the code you need to enter. You tell that code to the Nintendo employee, they give you a different code, then you can recover your Pokemon Bank. I hope if anyone else has this problem, they call Nintendo and get it fixed. It is possible!
