    Confirmed Switch title

Pokemon was bound to move to a new console eventually. By the time this game comes out, the 3DS will be at least 7 years old, with two full generations of Pokemon in its library. The DS before it similarly saw about 7-8 years of Pokemon games, spanning two generations. If you include the DS era...

To buy or not to buy?

I'm planning to buy Ultra Sun, probably on release day. I've been itching to replay S/M, so exploring an updated Alola sounds like a great time as far as I'm concerned. The fact that they probably aren't sequels a la BW2 is a little disappointing to me, but it sounds like US/UM will at least...

News: No Gyms Confirmed? Introducing Alola’s Island Challenge

I'm pretty content with this. I loved Black and White's gym leaders, since they each played active roles in the progression of the story, but to this day it's hard for me to even remember all of the X and Y leaders. Only a couple of them ever left their gyms or had significant dialogue. It's...

    Alola Forms

I'm in love with this concept! I think it's pretty clear by now that Game Freak has phased out the trend of adding new evolutions/pre-evolutions, so I'm glad we've got something new (besides Megas) to make old Pokemon interesting again. These forms will certainly coexist with the original...

Article: Hyper Training blows the metagame wide open

I'd argue that EVs and IVs are still distinct enough to be considered different, both conceptually and from a gameplay perspective. EVs are all about growth and experience. They are earned during the training process, awarded for every opponent your Pokemon defeats. This means the values change...

Article: Hyper Training blows the metagame wide open

I don't really understand the point of the question. IVs were never fun or interesting in competitive play. They all have to be 31 across the board, with very few exceptions. There's no variety or variation from the standard. In competitive play, IVs are simply a barrier to entry - Hyper...

    CP - a definitive measure?

I'm pretty sure HP and moves are big factors as well. Jolteon, for example, will always have lower HP than Vaporeon, even if they're both at similar CP. This means that, despite its type advantage, Jolteon will struggle to wittle down Vaporeon's HP. Meanwhile Vaporeon can spam out plenty of...

    Should the difficulty be increased?

I'm not at all opposed to a difficulty option, but I feel like there's more to "difficulty" than higher levelled opponents. When the only difference between "easy" and "hard" is more hours spent on tedious, arbitrary grinding, I don't think difficulty is really the factor in question. I'd prefer...

Article: Hyper Training blows the metagame wide open

Based on the Serebii page on Hyper Training, I think it's safe to assume the increases aren't limited. If Hyper Training can boost an IV of 5 up to 31 (along with a slew of other low IVs) there's probably no arbitrary cap hidden in there that stops you from boosting values as you please. At the...

    Aren't they revealing too much?

Every time a new batch of Pokemon is revealed, I find myself getting a bit nervous... After X and Y gave us only about 70 new Pokemon, and revealed most of them pre-release, it's hard for me to feel optimistic this time around. I'm very worried that we'll see the whole Pokedex (or at least the...

    Hyper Training

I think, if Hyper Training affects the value of traded Pokemon, it won't necessarily be a negative impact. Like others have mentioned, you'll still need to breed if you want ideal natures, abilities, and egg moves - perhaps players will simply come to value these things over IVs in trades. And...

    Hyper Training

In all honesty, I'm hoping that bottle caps will be difficult to obtain, so that breeding will remain the most efficient way to get a competitively viable Pokemon. IV breeding has gotten much faster and easier in the past couple generations, and I feel like it's a worthwhile post-game activity...

    What's your level?

I'm at Level 15 right now. My part of town is full of stops and gyms, which is amazing!! But the summer heat has been making it really hard for me to get out and play. It's probably going to be a long time before I reach Level 20.

Middle evolutions cooler than first and final?

The only two I can think of that I prefer to their final evos are Magneton and Doublade. Nothing against fans of Magnezone and Aegislash; I just personally am not as fond of their designs. Generally though, I'm a huge sucker for final stage evolutions, especially when it comes to starters.
