    In a GBA game, is there any way to get an NPC to follow me around, like in D/P? Or would that just be to crazy to even attempt?

    If you want to change the name of pokemon simple open up a hex-editor, load your table-file, and search for the Pokemon's name. When you reach an area in the game where it's like BULBASAUR.IVYSAUR.VENUSAUR.SQUIRTLE... This is where you change it. This question has been asked before too...

    Im finding the hex editor hard to use
    all i can see is numbers on the left and jibrish on the right...
    please help
    and i still need help with pokecry and changing the map so you can fly.

    In advance map, I'm trying to connect two maps. I know how to do it except for one part, the adjustment. I'm trying to connect Pewter City and a new area I made, Death Desert. What does the adjustment part mean? By the way, the map connection is left.

    Ok, here's a noob question for ya'll. I got these pkmn emerald offsets from the archives (see below). I tryed to plug it into unLZ, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to use these offsets correctly to edit from unLZ for some other program. It would be better, if someone could just give me the unLZ numbers for these stuff below.

    when i use pokepic to hack my sapphire ROM it gets all glitched up and bright bright blue with black lines everywhere

    I have a problem with my script. When I use it works fine but insted of the person dissapering th eplayer does and walks with the person I set the ID to. Anybody know how to fix this?

  • (I searched this thread, but didn't find anything related to my question)

    I'm currently having problems with the program "PokeTronic". I'm trying to use it to change the legendary Pokemon events, but every time I pick an event from the drop-down menu, it gives me the following error:

    Run-time error '13':
    Type mismatch

    Then, the program just closes down. I tried putting the rom into the same folder, and it gave me the same result. Is there any way to get this program to work properly, and if not... is there any other way to change the legendary Pokemon events?

    (I am hacking the Sapphire version, by the way)
    There is another way using a hex-editor, (What I do). But, it's kinda hard to explain. You would have to go to the legendary's script in a hex-editor and find the specific bytes that represent the pokemon. Then find it's level, which should be right beside it if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, PokeTronic would still be your best bet, but sadly the only thing I know of is downloading the runtime files.

    It sounds like you haven't loaded a table file, you must do this and the "jibberish" will turn into words.

    Ok I was editing a sprite in my game when it said error now I cant edit the game or anything and when I try to play it just shows a white blank screen. Someone please help. My Back up is bad and I was 50% done with maps... What should I do?
    I'm sorry, your rom-image has crashed. There's really nothing you can do about it. Always, make backups....and make sure they're ok too, I guess. o_O

    The only thing that can make this sort of error is if your image was either you image was too big or it was not formatted correctly.

    I just think it's a bug of PokeTronic. Anyway, the wildbattle structure is the following:

    [B6] [AA BB] [LL] [CC DD]

    B6 is the hex value that starts a wild battle. AA and BB together are the Pokémon ID (swapped). LL is the level of the Pokémon, alwyas in hex obviously. CC DD are the held item ID, swapped again.

    For a level 70 Mewtwo you would see something like this:

    Code:

    -> [B6] [96 00] [46] [00 00]

    There's really nothing you can do about it.

    That's not really true. If the ROM doesn't load properly it doesn't mean that you can't extract maps, palettes, scripts, etc. and import them on the backup ROM.

    Yes its possible. But you can add only 20( i think) i'm not reall sure.. But i don't know how to do that. its mostly done in hexeditor

    Can someone explain to me how you would go about editing trainers in a Hex editor? I read the tutorial but I don't get how it would work in my FireRed hack.

    Also, are there any more helpful table files besides the one in the FAQ?

    Hello there, I've got a few questions. First of all, I'm hacking Ruby.

    1)I'm using advance text for changing Pokémon's names. But I can't fit a name longer than the original Pokémon's name. For example, if I want to call Rattata Abcdefgh, I can't, 'cause there are 8 letters, and Rattata are 7 letters. So, is there a way to edit names longer than the originals?

    2)Pokémon cries. I'd like to change them. I've tried to use Pokécryguy (it comes with EliteMap), but when I change the cry it sound like a 3 seconds explosion!XD! Is it possible to change them with WAV I made?
