I was thinking the same thing! I thought that Johto would be Japan, since it's towns are more traditional Japanese, like Sprout Tower and Ecruteak Town!
By the way, I finished this! d: I think you can tell where I started to re write.

Spoiler:
You are Susan, a quiet but determined girl on a mission to find some sort medicinal help (a doctor, potion, anything at this point of desperation) for your sick Pidgey back in New Bark Town. You have two pokemon with you, Babbles the Sentret and Eiler the Spearow. Decribe your journey through Cherrygrove City and its unhelpful inhabitants.
Cherrygrove City. Susan had been here not many times in her life. Though she resided in New Bark Town and Cherrygrove was only the next town over, Susan was not one for straying far from the nest. She promised herself that she would train all three of her Pokémon up strong before she would move on to any other town but fate had other plans for her. Unfortunately for her, a loyal team member had come across with some kind of Pokémon sickness and needed medical attention. According to the local Professor, Cherrygrove was the closest place that would provide it to her, but the atmosphere seemed quite unwelcoming; not one person who passed her as she wandered into town even looked at her, let alone welcomed dear Susan into their humble town. Taking matters into her own hands, at the sake of her Pokémon, she approached an old man.
"E-excuse me, sir," she started, though didn't get far into the conversation.
"WHAT?! What did you say? Speak up, I am old and can not hear a word you're saying!" He almost shouted at her. Susan took a step back, dodging the man's shrapnel of saliva flying from his mouth. As she went to repeat what she said, the man only shouted louder. "SPEAK UP!!"
"I haven't said anything!" she yelled back at him before instantly shutting her mouth closed in surprise. How rude of her.
"No need to yell, girl," the man grunted back at her. Susan sighed heavily and shook her head. Now was not the time for petty quarrels, there was a Pidgey that needed saving!
"I'm sorry sir," she paced herself, keeping her voice loud enough so that it was firm, but soft enough that she didn't feel that her voice was alien to her. "Would you be able to tell me where I can get some medicine?"
"Why are you asking me?! Do I look like a doctor to you?" And with that, the disgruntled man scurried off, muttering profanities under his breath. Susan looked at the ground glumly. Was everyone in Cherrygrove going to yell at her? As she began to stumble off to some other part of town, there was a chirp in her ear. Oh! Eiler, her Spearow and Babbles the Sentret had released themselves from their balls and climbed up to Susan's shoulder without knowing. She smiled at them. Though they couldn't talk, her team mates knew exactly what to say.
"You are right! I can't give up!" She looked up and stepped forward, a determined look on her face. Now was not the time to give up! Her Pidgey needed her! She took another step and her face met a large white building. She stumbled back a little and looked right up. The... the PokéCentre? Yes! This was what she had needed! She smiled brightly and opened the doors, almost marching over to the desk.
"You guys are the bestest friends!"
