The Third Game will be kinda rushed and the remake will take time.

They may not be as 'rushed' as you think then. I'm sure they had plenty of things they wanted to add already, but couldn't because of deadlines, etc. A third version of BW may add more than the previous 'small upgrades' to versions.

I think that an emerald remake could make more sense then two games. Emerald has a totally different story line than rs and I don't see how they could fuse that into two very different games.

It might not be as difficult as you might think. I remember seeing someone suggesting that they could have both teams involved(a la Emerald) but have one play a bigger role than the other. I mean RS storylines may be implemented(as in one team as the 'evil'), but the main thing with Emerald was how it merged them into one. It'll be interesting to see how they work that out.

-When Groudon and Kyogre fights, in the ruby remake Groudon defeats Kyogre and
you must capture it to save hoenn region from the drought, in the sapphire remake
Kyogre defeats Groudon then you must capture it to save the hoenn region from
    the flood.

-The elite four's Pokemon keeps the same as Emerald, the champion is steven, in the rematches you will fight wallace, you can battle steven in the Meteor falls.

-You can challenge both Maxie and Archie like Emerald.

-They really should add one more battle with May, all of her Pokemons are fully evolved.

    - In the remake of ruby Wallace will be the last gym leader, Juan in the remake of sapphire, like B/W.

  • Emerald and FR/LG all had the same 'engine' or something like that, which would indicate that they started working on FR/LG after Emerald was complete (or halfway...) If we follow assume that they are doing something similar with this, then the RSE remakes should be released approximately a year after the 'third game', which should be released (following the pattern on DPPt) in late 2012.

tl;dr they will be released in Japan early 2013

  • I'd assume they have already began work on RS remakes for some time now I'm sure its been a big priority for them for a long time now and they want to get that complete more than they do a third game, if anything it's possible that the third game may come AFTER RS remakes, but the pattern is corrupt right now with nothing to base it off so nobody knows... yet.

They need less than year to make a 3rd game, so I think it will come before the remakes which it takes 3 years.

  • Yeah, I know it's only a matter of months where as remakes take more than a year, so if they are planning on releasing RS sometime within next year then they started ages ago.

  • I've been inactive in this thread for quite sometime, but I've been keeping an eye on things. And I must say, FALKNER YES! Even though he says he's "considering" it, something tells me that they've been thinking about it for awhile, and they're mentioning it now just to spark some interest. Still, I've been waiting for word of the remakes for about 3 years now.

  • I think it's being developed (and has been) for some time now, it's just a matter of when they choose to announce it and considerably December 2011 will be a reasonable date because that would bring the release date to some time during mid 2012 (RS 10th Anniversary) either that or announcement will take place early 2012. They have events in December where either a Third Game or a RS remake is likely to be announced, its just which one will be.. I know what Im hoping for but if not then my guess is they will announce it mid 2012 and release around November 2012 the actual anniversary, just wish we had more confirmation or that they would hurry.

  • I've been thinking that also, they probably will announce it sometime next year so the U.S. can get it spring 2013. I'm still waiting on a few spinoff games to be announced. (hopefully). But hearing that quote last night made me one of the happiest people on earth lol.

Serebii and Bulbapedia changed the wording on the translations they provided. Both no longer say Masuda is "Considering" the remakes. They now say all he did was politely respond to the posts made and thanked the fan for his support.

    From Serebii:
Some news spreading round is regarding some comments on Junichi Masuda's Twitter Account. When asked about making remakes of the GBA games Ruby & Sapphire, he responded by saying that the original games were important to him and thanked the user for his input, not that he'll "consider" it as spreading around the internet. While this isn't an indicator of Ruby & Sapphire remakes actually coming out, anything is possible. We'll bring more news about upcoming games as and when they come so keep checking back

Yet FRLG came out before Emerald?

  • I'd say they're putting the finishing touches on the third game and have already began work on RS remakes, but are planning on getting the third game released before RS, once that's done they can dedicate their full effort into the RS remakes which will follow not long after the third game (next year)

...My idea is wrong, I just thought it would be cool if the last gym is different depending on your version like B/W.
But most likely the 8th gym leader will be Juan in both versions.

  • I think they should leave it as they did in Emerald because that would mean getting rid of Juan for one version and keeping him in the other, I think they should just leave it as Juan 8th, Wallace Champ.

    Junichi Masuda's Twitter said:
Thanks! I've received your sentiments. Ruby and Sapphire are very important games to me. I want to make something good. Thanks!!

    https://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/w...eet_regarding_remakes_of_Generation_III_games

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! :cer_boogie: While this leaves us...basically back where we started in the first place XD, it's a tiny glimmer of hope pushing for Ruby/Sapphire remakes. I'm going to be optimistic in this case. :) I don't expect actual news on them until probably between February and May of 2012, since those months were the times of the BW and HGSS announcements, respectively (if you count the Zoroark silhouette thing as a BW 'reveal').

-The elite four's Pokemon keeps the same as Emerald, the champion is steven, in the rematches you will fight wallace, you can battle steven in the Meteor falls.

-They really should add one more battle with May, all of her Pokemons are fully evolved.

    - In the remake of ruby Wallace will be the last gym leader, Juan in the remake of sapphire, like B/W.

As for Elite 4 teams, I'd prefer the "first wave" (initial challenge) to take after their original teams from Ruby/Sapphire. For the "second wave" (rematch), in a manner similar to FireRed/LeafGreen's Elite 4, I would definitely love their teams to be powered up a bit. If they can have up to 6 Pokemon for the rematches, I'd like it if Sidney used his five core Pokemon from RS, as well as adding Crawdaunt from Emerald to his rematch team. The other Elite 4 members would get similar upgrades, with rematch Pokemon levels being on par with at least the ones from FR/LG.

Regarding the RS remakes' Champion, I'd prefer it to be Steven, simply because he was the original, and IMO the RS Elite 4/Champion challenge was a little more varied/tougher rather than having two Water-type based teams (In addition to being 100% Ice-type, Glacia's team is 60% Water-type) like Emerald did.

However, the deal with each remake version having a different 8th Gym Leader like BW is somewhat intriguing... I could see the Ruby remake having Wallace as 8th Gym Leader and Steven as Champion, with Steven's fossil/metal team reinforcing Ruby's land theme. Post-game, Juan could be lounging around in the Abandoned Ship, a suitable place for a Water-type aficionado. The Sapphire remake could feature Juan as 8th Gym Leader, and Wallace as Champion, reinforcing Sapphire's sea theme. Steven, like in Emerald, could be scavenging for meteorites at Meteor Falls during the post-game. The only problem I have with it is that I'm most likely getting the Sapphire remake, and I'd rather have Steven as Champion like in the originals. :P

And yeah, May could use a few more battles. At least let her starter Pokemon become fully evolved (the same goes for Brendan and female players).

I'd say they're putting the finishing touches on the third game and have already began work on RS remakes, but are planning on getting the third game released before RS, once that's done they can dedicate their full effort into the RS remakes which will follow not long after the third game (next year)

At this point, I'm not too sure about whether the remakes will precede the proposed Gray Version or vice-versa, as we've had both patterns exhibited by the releases of Generation III and Generation IV third versions and remakes. Since Generation V is touted as a "rebirth" of Pokemon, I would think that Game Freak is trying to extend the current generation for a little longer, although the fact that Best Wishes is a bit faster-paced than past anime seasons contradicts that notion... Then again, RS's 10th anniversary in Japan is coming up in November 2012, and I would assume that roughly a year gap is left between main series' releases, so if the remakes release were to match that time period (as FR/LG showed, the remakes don't have to be released on anniversaries), Gray Version would likely be released after the RS remakes.

I'd probably prefer that the RS remakes get released after Gray Version, so that they would be able to glean any enhancements introduced in Gray, similar to how HGSS was able to utilize Platinum's enhancements, such as VS sprites. Time will tell, I guess... >_>

EDIT: Just thought of another idea for the RS remake Champion. How about a double battle against Steven and Wallace? It would be a nice compromise between RS and Emerald, and would highlight the land/sea theme (Steel/Rock/Ground-types + Water-types) even further.

Alternately, we could simply re-use Emerald's League structure. GAH, so many possibilities! #_#

In actuality, I'd prefer Wallace as 8th, Steven as Champion. For the post-game, either Juan joins forces with Wallace during the rematch to pit the player in an 8th-Gym double battle, or Juan could be found and battled in the Abandoned Ship.

  • If GameFreak want to follow a similar pattern then it's likely they will announce remakes around June 2012 that gives roughly 5 months to churn out information etc. then release which will bring it round to November 2012 which is the 10 year anniversary months of Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire then shortly after in 2013 the third game may come along, as they have had a remake before a third game but then that corrupts the third game coming 2 years after the originals pattern so basically, it's upto them how they play the cards.. that's my theory anyway but I have a feeling they might do third game first.

I'm going to read more of this thread once I'm able to become more active, but I just wanted to comment on a few things.

You make a good point with the double battle as a champion, although people may not support this, it's something that has never been done and would be intresting to try out and see. As for the double 8th that would be kind of repetitive considering the 7th Gym is already a double battle so I don't really see that happening but I do see them alternating the 8th gym so Juan is rematchable somewhere else in the game and they can alternate through the two games so that like I say.. in one he's rematchable in a specific/unknown location and the other he is infact the 8th Gym Leader.

More remakes? Ugh, no thank you. Everyone's remake-crazy nowadays, and I don't see for the life of me why. I'd far prefer new material to rehashes. FRLG and HGSS were OK since those regions had zero connectivity to the newer ones, but Hoenn's just fine where it is.

And if they do remake it, what next? Diamond and Pearl remade in Gen VI? Black and White remade in Gen VII? That's just... overkill. Remaking a generation two after it's come out is just... unappealing. It doesn't help that most of the good features that remakes introduced keep getting left out of most subsequent games. FRLG gave us the VS Seeker, which got used in the Sinnoh games and was promptly abandoned for inferior substitutes. Following Pokemon and the whole picture gimmick was great in HGSS... and left out once again in BW. The Pokeathlon was far more entertaining than contests or the Musical, but it's left in its own little corner of the verse.

RSE remakes will have to bring something seriously worthwhile and innovative to the table for me to even consider buying them. I'm not going to waste money- and yes, it would be a waste- just for nostalgia's sake.

Then again I'm talking about the Pokemon fandom where nostalgia is valued more than actual quality, so whatever.

  • Honestly, yes I would buy a RSE remake. Ruby was (and still is) one of my favorite Pokemon games. I thought HG and SS were a great success at least IMHO, so I don't see why not to make a remake of RSE.

  • As long as we have more reason to believe these remakes will happen, let's continue with some more features we'd like to see: Remember how Deoxys, the final Hoenn Pokemon, debuted in the remakes, FireRed and LeafGreen? Well, I think it would at least be an interesting twist if they made it so Genesect debuts in the R/S remakes. Note that Genesect is the only Unova legendary Pokemon to not have overworld sprites programmed in B/W. I'm not saying in any way that this is something that is definitely gonna happen, but I think that would be awesome.

Also, how about a revamped team for Steven? Since Steven is fought post-game in Emerald, that would allow him to have National Dex Pokemon. Perhaps, since he's a declared Steel-type specialist, he could have a 100% Steel team. It would be awesome if he could have a Bisharp. Or, maybe he could be rematchable with a new team. I'm pretty much about 99% certain that at least the Elite Four will be rematchable with enhanced teams, since that's been done with every remake. So, why not Steven?
