I really don't see how the manga still garners readers until now. I've tried to read it before and I just can't see what makes it good.

What a notification to wake up to, my god.

I think trying to make wonder trade a better place is a lost cause, and people who complain about getting Fletchling and Honedge all the time are just wasting their breath. All the junk trades make it even more special when you finally get something good, anyway.

Normal types are the absolute best.
End of story.

(...That's probably going to be the most unpopular opinion on here, but it's a true opinion of mine..!)

False.

-It's wrong to say that generation 1 being glitchy is a slight, as glitches have always been considered to typically add more to a game; see speedrunning. Generation 3 actually has more harmful glitches than generation 1 does.
-Psychic also has Drowzee/Hypno.
-The only Dragon move being Dragon Rage is because of just how insanely powerful Dragon-type is in generation 1 alone; if there were serious Dragon moves for Dragonite (there), it might actually be more powerful than Mewtwo (there).
OK, I get glitches adding more to the game. However, when you say they're always considered to, that implies that every glitch is good. Also, gen 3 may have more harmful glitches, but they weren't as easily accessible without a cheating device.

The next point was actually a typo I missed. I mean to say ghost types instead of psychic types. Which the ghost types are even more screwed by psychic types due to them also being part poison making psychic even more overpowered.

Sp psychic can be overpowered with being glitched into having no weaknesses, yet dragon types can not by only having one move that doesn't even do scaling damage?

Hate Gen 5 and Gen 6.
Gen 4 told me they were running out of ideas because they were bringing pokemon from Gen 1 and 2 back like Electivire.

  • I loved the plot for B/W
  • I hate the fairy type.
  • Exp Share and Exp All should coexist
  • Mega Dunsparce needs to be a thing
  • Ice should resist fairy, to give it some defensive purpose
  • Game Freak should actually help out the ice types
  • I love the Gen 6 starters
  • I hate X / Y
  • ORAS might be tied with G/S for my favorite Pokemon games <3

- B/W's plot twist near the end with team plasma ruined the story
- A pokemon game focusing on the story is the absolute worst way to design a Pokémon game around
- N is a very cliché character that just comes off like a know-it-all (his hair doesn't help)
- B/W are the worst games in the series
- Making no old pokemon available until post Elite 4 in B/W was an awful, awful, awful idea
- Most Gen 5 pokemon are either awfully designed, lame versions of old pokemon, or both
- Reusable TMs shouldn't be available until post Elite 4
- Johto is a very boring region
- They should bring back the old style EXP. Share as a alternative to the one introduced in Gen 6
- The post game in G/S/HG/SS is the worst in the series, even if it is the largest
- D/P/Pt have the best post-game content in the series, closely followed by OR/AS
- Gen 2 and Gen 5 are my least favourite Pokémon generations
- Gen 1 wasn't shit lol
- We need to retire the term "Genwunner"
- I have nothing against you if you dislike Pokémon past the original 151
- While Gen 5 has the most fugly pokemon designs, Gen 1 has the laziest
- Gen 2 introduced the most forgettable Pokémon
- I didn't mind the shower of evolutions that Gen 4 brought with it
- Most mega evolutions are pretty cool, but their designs are garbage
- Mega Mawile and Mega Sableye should've been fully fledged evolutions
- The amount of liberties that the Gen 6 games have taken to pander to the fanbase has made me enjoy the games less
- Gen 6's graphics don't look good for a 3DS game outside of battles
- Platinum would be my favourite Pokémon game if it didn't run so sluggishly
- Never been impressed with the Battle Frontier; the gimmicks that each facility introduced were either too minor or too annoying
- I have no problems with Pokémon based on inanimate objects
- It took a while, but one of my favourite Pokémon types is the Fairy-type
- The Jigglypuff line scares the shit out of me
- Gen 4 had the best range of legendary Pokémon, although...
- ...I really dug how Gen 6 only focused on a few legendary Pokémon; made them feel more important
- I like the Vanilluxe and Klinklang lines in a so bad it's good way; easily the ugliest Pokémon ever but were quite useful in B2/W2
- Of all of the Pokémon games out there, B2/W2 is the game I have the least desire to replay
- EV Training was tedious dribble until Gen 6 streamlined it all
- I could take or leave the walking with Pokémon feature in HG/SS
- Having your rival turn out to be the champion in the Gen 1 games is still the best story moment to grace the series
- I don't mind Pikachu
- Wallace makes a better champion than Steven Stone
- I didn't like how all of the Mega Stones in OR/AS were just splattered throughout the region without much fanfare
- I don't miss the Game Corners
- Palkia is the best Pokémon ever
holy shit

Hmm..

I think Exploud is extremely good..

I think there should be a pokemon cartoon strictly from the Pokemon's point of view - and have them actually Speak..not just say "pika pika!"..

I absolutely hate Aipom's evolution..wait..that may not be unpopular..

I think there shouldn't be any 4x weaknesses - 3x would've been enough..

Oh, sounds like an interesting thread !
- I played the game since gen 1 came out, and kanto is the lamest and worst region by far.
- Legendaries are unnecessary, and detract the attention of the devs off 99% of the rest of the game.
- Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky is an awesome game, with an awesome story, and an awesome soundtrack that's better than many other games. I love it more than most main series games !
- In PMD, I really think they shouldn't have removed gummies, IQ skills and pokemon being able to have all their abilities at the same time! And they should have kept their own spin on things, because its a good thing that the PMD games differed from the main series games !
- I don't like Looker at all..
- I don't like professor Rowan.
- I found most gen 4 game to be ultimately boring..
- I like B2/W2.
- I prefer to stick with the earliest pokes I get and take them through the entire game rather than catch the strongest poke I can as the game progresses.
- I think that Smogon's usage based tiers tends to incitate people to re-enact high-school and literally take it as a popularity contest. In the sense, people are trying to sell their go-to pokes all the time, and they're building teams based on trends rather than curiosity, and etc.. (Not talking about people competing in actual smogon tournaments, but more your everyday battling enthusiasts.)
- Competitive battling discussions in general often turn into dissing fests justified by a few facts, rather than ending in something constructive..
- I usually don't like starters much, and end up boxing them, taking a liking to another early on poke instead (hi Shinx, Poochyena, Mareep, Nidoran, and Blitzle ).
- Gamefreak should seriously get some new, fresh, and more adventurous direction on pokemon games.
- Pokemon shouldn't release a game a year, and take more time to develop them. Or at the very least implement everything they want before releasing, even if it takes an extra year !
- They should add less new pokemon with each new generations, and innovate and improve on those they have already.
- I don't enjoy very faithful remakes.
- I think megas shouldn't be used on powerful fan favorite, but on weaker mons.
- I really don't mind if they were to increase the stats of some of the weaker pokemon, or even re-purpose them.
- I didn't like N at all, and I thought he sounded insane and creepy, and kept contradicting himself the whole game.
- I think Wally is really an egoistical and manipulative person, and I don't really like him much.
- I hate Steven Stone !
- I think a home console pokemon main-series game would be a flop..
- I think Gamefreak should take more creative input from the community. A little like Team Fortress 2's workshop, where designs and new concept/features made by fans are pitted against eachothers, and some gets into the game, on the developper's own terms.
- I actually like some of the the TPP memes. But I actually prefer part of the lore, as I find it all, along with the history being it, fascinating.
- I like AZ's character, and would like to see more of him !
- I find Poochyena much cuter than most popular cute pokemon. And I still think that Max in the anime should have traveled during the whole Hoenn series with that poochyena he trained in a "A bite to remember" even though they came up with the excuse that he's too young to train pokemons(even though you battle much younger kids during R/S/E)
- I really don't mind vulgar nicknames on pokemon.
- If there are any new Red and Blue/Green remakes, they should try to makes something as new and different as possible with it from the originals..
- I'm sick of collecting badges and fighting the Elite 4 all the time! And I think something else should drive the plot in newer games!

Disliking N is fine, and I'm not gonna try to change your mind, but I actually liked him for the exact same reasons. I think those things are really important parts of his personality, and it makes me sadface when... certain fans try to erase or gloss over his creepier traits.

STAB Boomburst with no drawbacks and being able to fire it off against Ghost-types ftw!

You know, that would not be too bad an idea.

How exactly would that work?

Once again, chipping in a bit of extra take.

1. I hate pokeporn. Even if I don't view it, the concept is disgusting. Giving 10-11-year-olds large breasts is pedophilia.

2. Lost Silver is not scary. A lot of people even claim it's so deep, the point of it being to show us that despite what the 'overly sheltered' pokemon series would have us think, death comes to all, even pokemon and trainers. Actually death of both humans and pokemon have been mentioned since generation 1, so they're not actually trying to shelter us--or children--from such a concept.

3. Pokemon does not condone or gloss over abuse. Since Red and Green versions and the first season of the Pokemon anime, pokemon have been shown to leave trainers they don't like, i.e. the ones at Mr. Fuji's house and Ash's Charmander. In HG and SS if you turn and talk to them in a gym, it will even say they're excited (unless of course, the gym specializes in their type disadvantage). They do not see themselves as slaves to humans, proven by the fact that they will ignore orders and refuse to use HM moves outside of battle until they actually want to listen to you. Pokemon enjoy battling and will leave people if they don't like them, the most recent example being the hidden meadow in the forest of X and Y.

4. Arceus is ridiculous. Creating a God pokemon was a stupid idea. I'd rather they created various legendaries that helped create the world together, like how Groudon made the land, and Kyogre made the sea. It would have given Game Freak more options for legendaries in upcoming games.

5. Speaking of legendaries: Most of them are ridiculous. Most regions have too many that aren't really that cool. Legendaries should be few and stand out from other pokemon for good reasons. For example, Mew is the ancestor of all pokemon. That's a good legendary. The 3 musketeer trio in Black and White...not so much.

6. I like Pikachu

7. I'm bored of Ash and think making him the star of every region is an injustice to the other playable characters, even his female travel companions.

8. I hope they make an eeveelution for each type.

Boomburst could work against Ghost types..!? I never knew that!

And as for the 3x weakness thing..umm..Like, for example - Seismitoad, instead of having a 4x weakness to grass (Most likely a 1 hit K.O. if you use a grass attack against him), it'll just be 3x - so he could have Somewhat of a chance to survive. I'm not a seismitoad fan, but I'm using him as an example.

..as for how that would technically work - mathematically..I honestly don't know..I'm considered to have a "learning disability" when it comes to mathematics, so...lol..

Sorry, I didn't get specific there - Exploud can have the Scrappy ability, which allows Normal-type attacks (and Fighting-types for that matter) to hit Ghost-types. Other Pokémon are just as screwed by them as ever.

And the 3x weakness could be understandable, like how critical hits only do 50% extra in this generation as opposed to double the damage then...yeah, like that.

This is what came to mind as of this moment.

-Black 2 and White 2 were the best games of the series.
-I don't think Pikachu is cute at all. Pokemon like Cleffa or Buneary are much cuter.
-Flygon is a terrible Pokemon that should never have been created and is very overrated.
-I like all the water in Hoenn, it adds to the uniqueness of Hoenn.
-HeartGold and SoulSilver's music is much better than Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald's.
-The Hoenn remakes should have been made on the 3DS, as remakes should only be made when the original game's console was two console generations ago. For example, Sinnoh and Unova remakes should not be on the 3DS, they should be on the next console after the 3DS.

Hello. These threads are typically terrible ideas because people love to corrupt them with tons of fact-based claims that are often false; people do not (want to) understand the difference between opinion and fact. I'm here to point out the facts and to correct the sheer number of misconceptions brought up in this thread alone; nothing in this post will be opinion-based. People need to write opinions that actually sound like it, or these silent wars all over the world will impede progress forever.

Before I start, I should probably mention that I really don't want to hear people complaining about competitive play, because I will be mentioning it more than once. Disliking competitive play is a great opinion for this actual thread, but it (and the numerous opinions behind it) is not even remotely a response to anything that I have to say. Similarly, I don't want to hear people complain about Smogon, because very few people actually understand what Smogon is and how they work, and that majority will often cite some irrelevant excuse for their refusal to do so. Finally, yes, anyone's cries of "it's just a game" are exactly as bad as anyone's cries of "you're doing it wrong", and this is one of those cases where two wrongs do not make a right (noted because it's a common misconception that they never do).

False. One, disliking Unown's design (another facet of "bad") is extremely rare and would be the actual opinion to use in this thread. Two, since Pokemon is (by basic concept and design) a competitive video game before anything else, whether a Pokemon is bad or not depends on how they actually play. Unown has always been in the bottom or near-bottom tiers, though it might be able to do something in the particularly tiers it's in (I'm not familiar enough with its matchups in each game to be able to determine that, and people making "overpowered" jokes for it everywhere doesn't help).

True. They lie to themselves about a game they barely played when they were young children, and refuse to understand the very basics of how game design works.

False. Many series portray the protagonist as the greatest individual in the entire story, and Pokemon does this in two ways:

-The games make each player character better than the previous, and the player characters are the only ones in any given game who ever have a chance at obtaining every single known Pokemon as they are revealed (never mind the numerous god-like Pokemon within that number). Being able to fight and defeat Red at the end of G/S/C (and HG/SS) is a nod to this.
-The only manga you can take seriously (Pocket Monster Special; not an opinion) explicitly makes Pokedex Holders the greatest characters in the story, and Red and Gold (somewhat forced) as the greatest Pokedex holders.

False. With Unown in mind, exactly how good Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise are depends on which generation you're playing. In generation 1 specifically (since it's a generation 1 starter), Venusaur is slightly better than the others for most ways of playing.

True. Ash is specifically designed to not develop as a character, because Nintendo does not want to replace him or end the show.

False. Nearly everything Smogon does has real effort put into it, and no such critic has put in the effort to prove them so fundamentally wrong. What they get wrong is generation 1; they do not put in their standard effort for that game, and those that do are considered to be a different community altogether.

False. The entire point of introducing Fairy was to have a more accessible hard counter to the still-strong Dragon and to have a new defensive type.

False. They have historically made generally renowned games such as Mendel Palace, Pulseman, Drill Dozer, and HarmoKnight, while also making a long-running and highly-regarded series of games that even have a better sense of balance (feel free to complain about Stealth Rock, because it's irrelevant) than most other popular competitive video games. If that's not competent, no video game developer is competent.

False. Like so many things, Pokemon will only ever be killed due to things that have nothing to do with it; that is all humans will allow.

False. Charizard has always been considered the best generation 1 starter design, ever since generation 1 itself.

False. Mega Evolutions are not related to the big problems such as Dragon/Steel and Stealth Rock (both of which were supposed to be mitigated with X/Y), nor have they been shown to be a new problem in and of themselves. Evolutions themselves cause a much bigger imbalance, and that isn't exactly a fault.

False. Again, the capability of Dragon and Steel was always seen as a problem.

False. The currently single dual-type move makes as much sense as Hidden/Secret Power, dual-type Pokemon, and so on. It isn't even properly dual-type; it is treated as a Fighting-type move that happens to turn into Flying-type one against certain types.

False. Just in generation 1, Mewtwo is much stronger than the second-strongest Pokemon (Dragonite and Mew; from them down, strength is a gradual downward slope), and it has the moves to take advantage of that. Even to this day, it is still one of the strongest Pokemon ever; its Mega evolutions now give it some different things to do.

False. Simply put, the only people who stop to notice are those who consider themselves fans of the show, who watched it in the past.

False. It's clear that Game Freak is planning on doing a remake every so often. We didn't get one with generation 5 because that was meant to be a special generation with a lot of ties to generation 4, similar to generation 2 to generation 1. Right now, there are two moves one could guess:

-They'll make the third version of X/Y on regular 3DS and the new generation for the New 3DS, and the latter will be like the aforementioned generation 2 and 5; no remakes yet.
-They'll make the third version of X/Y for the New 3DS, and make a new generation for a possible successor platform with the potential for a remake in that generation.

Related, whenever you hear rumors that there won't be a "follow-up version", disregard them. Game Freak tried to scare people with B/W in order to hide what they were trying to do with B2/W2. If there is no Z, GF will be doing something they have never done before (I would think everyone understands by now that the remakes have created their own separate pattern and do not count).

False. Every single trainer in the entire series is a joke who does not understand the rules of the game they're in. Red is the most threatening of these simply due to using the starters, Snorlax, and Espeon, all at higher levels than anyone else in the entire main series.

False. Generation 5's storyline, the strongest example of this, is generally considered to be the best storyline in the series because of it.

False. Slash has worked exactly the same since its debut.

If anyone cares, LeSabre sounds like a troll.

False. Magikarp isn't being praised, it's being joked about. It's a meme dating back to an old video of someone jokingly taking out a team of legendaries with a complicated and normally useless strategy; supposedly the opponent was some random who had no idea how to play the game. The only people who are taking Magikarp seriously are the people who don't get the joke.

False. What you describe is actually what happens. Nintendo tries to prevent hacks as long as they can so that hacking doesn't take over online and doesn't cause drama at officially sanctioned tournaments. They know people can easily screw around with emulators and save editors and such, and they don't really care beyond the legality of people playing games they don't own (ignore the Nintendo Clause about not being able to make backups, because they don't really care either).

True. People really don't know what they want, and really don't know how to ask for it.

True. People put too much stock in a vocal minority that doesn't really know anything about their community, something that nearly every single community is subject to (because it's a result of human nature). The axiom about "weakest links" is generally as false as "two wrongs make a right"/"eye for an eye" is true.

False. See the first paragraph of this post.

False. Game Freak has always wanted to work in such patterns, as they were the ones who created pairs like Butterfree and Beedrill, and the remakes pattern, to begin with. The imbalances in this series come from their current inability (designing even Mega Evolutions is difficult and time-consuming) or outright refusal (Nidorina/Nidoqueen breeding, taking until generation 4 to fix the physical/special imbalance, taking until generation 6 to do something about Dragon/Steel and Stealth Rock) to fill in these gaps.

False. All GF has ever done is make the games less time-consuming while making gameplay both more complicated and more complex.

False. Team Rocket is one of the most competent gangs in the series. Even in the irrelevant anime, Jessie and James (and Team Rocket in general) refuse to give up even as every other gangs does.

False. There is nothing "unique" about taking three of the same Pokemon and having them move together.

True. It's entirely a matter of opinion that non-animals are being considered and entirely a matter of opinion to criticize them.

True. Yes, it's a meme. No, just about everyone who takes generation 4 and 5 seriously says this; those that don't don't actually play. It may even still be an issue in generation 6, but supposedly Defog has helped a lot.

True. Aqua and Magma are the most incompetent teams in the games. The often-criticized Team Flare are far more competent, being more like Team Rocket and about as effective.

True. Game Freak is being lazy instead of strict, especially since default Calem and Serena have always overpowered all other possible options.

True. A lot of it is just people being contrary and ignoring their own possible opinion.

False. Pokemon game development is very complicated compared to other games, so it is completely possible that more effort spent on legendaries means less effort spent on normal Pokemon.

False. Blaziken has actually been buffed, and what few counters it has now aren't great; there is absolutely nothing "easy to beat" about it. Please remember that Blaziken is neutral to Stealth Rock.

False. Instead of focusing on the superficial, they've focused on the actual gameplay; generations 3 and 6 have the most depth in the entire series. Generation 5 is also considered to have the best plot in the entire series despite this, and Pocket Monster Special is still a thing.

True. Noone really disagrees with these except the genwunners, the people who mindlessly refuse to accept Arceus's existence.

True. Charizard is the most difficult Pokemon to use in generation 1. In later gens, it's not really clear, but they don't seem to compete with each other.

False. There has always been a window for rushing Special ever since Gold and Silver had been released around the time Yellow Chapter had started. The HG/SS chapters are the same basic quality as every other; anything beyond that is opinion.

False.

-See above about how Red's been treated.
-The player is supposed to be so collected and moody-looking (not arrogant), after what would be an entire series of adventures. That doesn't target shounens, so it's never really been exported.

You can only refer to a joke as a joke.

True. All you can do is tell them the truth and hope they listen.

False. All three are powerful upgrades, and Mega Salamence in particular is tearing competitive to pieces. Sounds like someone's mad.

False. See above. Smogon is all we really have because all alternatives are concerned with either a completely different game or allowing people to overrun everyone else with unfair tactics.

False. The problem is that Dragon is something of an upgraded Flying, so it's difficult to get the right type combinations. It was decided to make Charizard Fire/Flying because Dragon was and has always been very strong, so giving it to a starter would be insane. Mega Evolutions allow Game Freak to solve both problems.

False. This is a complete misunderstanding of how wings work; please read up on basic flight.

False. See above. The suggestion that it's wrong to show respect to people who still love Pokemon, a series meant for all ages, as it evolves over the years, is simply hate. The situation is more complicated than that anyway, as the remakes are not just meant for fans of the original games.

True. How the concept of "beauty" is treated is why the world is such a miserable place.

False. What are you actually going to do about it? Absolutely nothing, because you don't have a point. You're just mad about something you're not going to bother actually researching, like so many people.

False. It's just that popular; see Pikachu and the generation 1 starters. This isn't like Zelda where having multiple identical versions of a character like that is sketchy, or Fire Emblem where the series isn't really big enough to justify having so many characters from it (Marth is kept because he represents the series as a whole never mind the recent remake; Ike is kept because his games are "special" and because he's unique; Awakening has two characters from it because it was a huge success everywhere and the most successful game in the series period).

Having trade evolutions is more consistent with the big emphasis on trading this series is supposed to have.

False.

-Generation 1 has gameplay that doesn't really resemble any other, and the community for it is not for genwunners. It is the only generation to have such a community playing it other than generation 3.
-Final Fantasy VII is not overrated by any stretch of the imagination. That is a meme and one just as destructive as the genwunner nonsense.

False.

-Venusaur takes care of everything Charizard can't, and Arcanine and Ninetales are both very good just starting out and competitively.
-Electric is one of the more represented types in the series, especially in generation 1.

False. You're as bad as it gets.

-Again, Game Freak is removing time-wasting and adding more depth.
-They don't come out with "a game every year" (versions are very easy to make), and the recent games are far less rushed and glitchy than previous ones.
-Change is not inherently good, especially when the majority does not want it. Pokemon changes a lot each generation anyway; it's often ignored for superficial or "don't like it" reasons.
-Instead of being targeted largely at kids, the series is now targeted largely at everyone.
-Dragon and Steel really were that good, sorry. Stop being so mad.
-Everything that Game Freak has removed has either been readded or has been a mostly unliked/unused gimmick, sometimes both.

True. This is what 99% of these people are focusing on, and they are huge hypocrites. They demand that Smogon stop enforcing their hard research on them, while demanding that their unbalanced "anything goes" rules be enforced on everyone else.

That's everything I saw. I know it's a lot, but it's all very important to understanding what's really going on with this series. Hopefully, someone out there will read and understand this (without having already known it all, of course); thanks to those who do.

Would you like a hat to go with your ass? Because I'm sure it's tired of the sun getting in it's eyes carting you up the mountains. This is so much more opinionated than you'd like it to be. You come off as snarky and rude. They said: "Ash is a terrible protagonist" -> You said: "True" What? How is that even a true or false statement? In a thread of opinions? In my opinion you sure fell flat on your face. One cannot simply label an opinion as true or false. Know why? Because some of us won't change our minds. Like me, I prefer Bombay Sapphire Gin, and in my opinion it has a crisper flavour than it's competitors. *shrugs* Just showing up out of the blue and urinating on other's opinions does not a friend make; you should play with your Pokemon more.

For example: The Fiat 500 is a crappy vehicle in my opinion. Another example of opinions: Rayquaza and his cohort are lame. Hoenn is lame. Wallace is lame. Team Aqua and Magma are superseded by actual activists that actually know what they're doing making the plot often terrible. Taking away the game corner was disappointing. Beedrill is better than Butterfree; and Persian, Lieperd, Purugly, and Delcatty should learn Milk Drink.

My opinion? I don't want to be stuck playing as 10 and 11 year old children when I try to catch them all. And people should play with their Pokemon more.

And no, it is just a game. Do you know how I know? Because at the end of the day I can go home and it doesn't feel like work. It's a game simply because it's a videogame. It's a game because people buy it for it's sheer entertainment value. It's a game because people can do whatever they damn well please in the game itself. It's a game because millions around the world function without it at their side. . .

. . .and you showing up and stating otherwise won't change the fact that your donkey needs a hat.

I can't help but being quite sad at this opinion, but it's yours and I'll let you have it.

Don't get me wrong though, its totally about character design. A male lopunny is also equally ridiculous. Along with a female Mr.Mime

Disliking N is fine, and I'm not gonna try to change your mind, but I actually liked him for the exact same reasons. I think those things are really important parts of his personality, and it makes me sadface when... certain fans try to erase or gloss over his creepier traits.
Well, now that you mention it, its not really that he's creepy why I don't like him.

Its because every-time I feel I should be understanding something after he's done talking, I don't. In part because he keeps contradicting himself.. And nearly everyone else in the game seems to understand him, and nobody seems to want to explain what's really going on, and instead add up even more questions.. Which is quite annoying when he's pretty much a big part of the plot..

I'm fairly sure there's a trope for something like that, that would be more accurate than my explanation..

But, I guess it might not be the character in itself, more the way he came through in the plot.
Just something that annoyed me, that most people seem to have liked..

That's actually a pretty sound point, and one that I don't see being brought up very often. Not just that people understand him, but that characters like Professor Juniper even give that much heed to what he has to say.

It does make a bit more sense to me that he has the loyalty of those Team Plasma members who aren't in on the true plan, but I'm a psychology student and have done a bit of studying about how real-life cults and fringe groups gain the loyalty of their followers (which I won't get into, partially because it derails the topic and partially because I'm not sure how appropriate it is to discuss real-life issues in this part of the forum). You have a fair argument when it comes to characters outside of Team Plasma.
