  • "Oh, someone else asked the exact same question just a few minutes ago!" Ossy stood in front of the help desk, asking the women standing behind it if Ray Maverick had already left. She was currently answering his question in an upbeat, cheerful tone; " He left about thirty five minutes ago." Ossy nodded his head and smiled, saying "Thank you."

    *

The grass swayed gently as Ossy crouched down, watching a herd of Shimama and Zebruraika. The herd was munching down on the grass, their manes sparking every so often. There was always at least one lookout though, and Ossy knew that the electric zebra were watching him carefully. Ossy was thouroghly surprised when a Shimama suddenly snorted in his air, the porygon floating next to him levitating far into the air. Ossy turned his whole body, surprised to find another herd on the other side of the hill he was standing on. The shimama snorted and made a battle ready stance towards Fenster, so Ossy turned to Fenster and asked him if he was willing to battle. The porygon nodded, prompting Ossy to say "Okay Fenster, please consider listening to me. I trust you to know what to do, but sometimes I know the better strategy."

The shimama started things off with by running forward in a Stomp attack. Ossy called out his order, saying "Dodge with Agility." Fenster thought for a moment before complying, imediately firing off a Psybeam even with out being ordered. The shimama turned and took the attack head on, charging forward and rleasing burning heat from it's body in a Nitro Charge. The attack hit, the shimama now slightly faster than Fenster. Ossy thought hard for a moment, before ordering "Sharpen, Conversion 2, then Tackle!" Fenster complied, his body becoming more jagged before he charged forward in a Tackle attack at the same time that he turned into the fire type. The shimama responded by trying to Double Kick the porygon with its hind legs. Fenster speedily dodged it, and Tackled the shimama, bringing it to it's knees. Ossy took that as his chance, throwing a Great Ball at the shimama.

    *

A figure sat on a majestic horse that stood on the top of a hill. The sunlight at their backs, an impressive shadow stretched out in front of them. Ossy rode forward atop of his newly christened Ross the shimama, glad that he had been carrying a Hyper Potion. Rossy seemed to be walking unsteadily, so Ossy gave the command to "Stop," before getting off. He was thoroughly surprised when he then found out that the ground was shaking. Looking forward he found three of his teamates trying to fight of a cloney of Aianto. Oh noe. "Shock and Thunder Waves Ross! Those are my teamates in the tournament I was telling you about. The shimama nodded, galloping forward and releasing multiple waves of electricity at the pulsing colony of Aianto. The Thunder Waves were able to follow in the wake of the Shock Waves which Ross was controlling to hit the enemy with. The attacks hit, but it had taken a lot of energy from Ross. Ossy was unsure what to do until he had a brilliant idea. "Fenster, come out and use your electric attacks on Ross. Ross, keeping firing away at those Aianto!"

Iris, not exactly paying attention to what was going on after suffusing herself in the afterglow of victory, just barely caught the announcement that tomorrow would involve a two-on-two match. Well, if she was going to be paired with someone on her team, she'd prefer pretty much anyone but the Nosepass user, whom she caught his name to be Roland. "Kind of a dumb name, if you ask me," she grunted under her breath as her self-appointed team leader announced to everyone that tomorrow he'd be training in the plains, and that the others were more than welcome to tag along.

Iris gave a frown. She didn't really need to catch any more Pokemon; she had enough as is. She'd only need two for tomorrow's battle. However, the more she had, the more variety in her abilities. She pulled out the three Pokeballs, not really paying attention to those around her as she considered them. Swirls would someday become Poliwrath, and be Water and Fighting type. Helmet was supposed to become something called Gallade, though neither of her parents had ever seen one. Frost...well, she didn't know if Frost could evolve or not, but she hoped he kept the same typing, if so.

She had all the pokemon she needed, really. If something came up, she might go ahead and catch it just because, but she was really more focused on making the ones she had stronger. There wasn't really much for her to do to achieve that end /but/ go out right now and train; it wasn't all that late. They'd arrived here in the mid-afternoon, so it was only pre-evening right now, and if the next battle didn't start until five in the afternoon tomorrow, she had about twenty-four hours to go and toughen up her pokemon.

"Come on, guys. Let's go out to that field and see what we can do," she spoke, mostly to herself but also to her allies, despite the fact that they were inside their pokeballs. The girl found a map of the city and its surrounding areas, taking only a short time to figure out which way she needed to go. As it turned out, as she headed towards the fields, she could see one of her teammates ahead of her, though he had what appeared to be a tent strapped to his back. Iris had planned to hail him, but when the boy had begun to setup, she frowned, instead taking an alternate route; she wanted to train alone, anyway.

Wandering through the fields, she happened to see what looked like a grazing Tauros, the beast still out and eating despite the late hour. "All right Helmet, Swirls," she called, releasing the two pokemon, "That big lug there is your target. We'll be doing double battles tomorrow, so I'm going to need you to learn to work as a team. You get me?" she asked, and the two small Pokemon nodded. She looked up, determined, going over the attacks her pokemon had in her head.

"Helmet, Confusion. Swirls, use Bubble; let's confound the foe first," she spoke, pointing at the creature. Froth built up in Swirls' mouth before several large bubbles began to emerge, headed for the Tauros. Helmet, waiting for the chance to strike, simply gathered its psychic energy, biding its time. Just as the Bubble attack neared the Tauros, Helmet released its Confusion attack, causing the Tauros to wheel around, shaking its head as it tried to locate the source of the attack. However, before it had a chance to, the Bubble crashed into it, the slimy, mucous-like liquid sticking to its fur and inhibiting its movement.

"Good! Now, Water Gun and Magical Leaf!" Iris announced, the two pokemon nodding in unison before turning back to face their enemy. Swirls gathered the water, releasing it in a powerful burst of force, which actually caused the Tauros to stumble back a step before the leaf caught it, slicing it along its side. The large, bull-like beast gave a roar, before stamping its feet, beginning to charge at the two aggressors. "Lucky Chant and Hypnosis!"

The order for the attacks was more of a safety net, rather than any sort of attack. The former attack would keep the Tauros from landing any blows that would be particularly painful, while Hypnosis would, hopefully, lure the target off to sleep. It was hard to say whether or not the Lucky Chant did anything, but the Hypnosis seemed to have failed entirely as the Tauros caught Swirls with its horns before Stomping over Helmet, leaving the little creature trapped beneath its hoof.

"Swirls! C'mon man, get up!" Iris called, and the little creature blinked a few times, shaking its head before getting back up to its feet. "Okay! Help out Helmet by ramming that thing with a Body Slam!" Swirls nodded, trucking forward towards the bull-like Pokemon, before ramming into it head-first, actually with enough force to cause it to stumble a few steps away, which freed Helmet from its wrath. "Helmet! Use Confusion again!" she called out, and the little creature again blasted the Tauros with another burst of psychic energy, and Iris saw its knees buckle.

She extended a hand, pointing towards the bull. "Water Gun and Thunderbolt!" she called out, hoping the use of the Water attack would augment the effectiveness of the Electric. Whether it worked, or the two attacks alone were strong enough to bring down the beast would never be known as the Tauros took another step back before fainting. "All right!" she called out, reaching to her belt to get the pokeballs for her two when Helmet began to shimmer. She watched, transfixed, as the little pokemon began to grow, evolving into a Kirlia. The 'hair' on its head was a bit shorter, and its 'skirt' seemed to stick to its legs a bit more, making it look like shorts instead, but it was still definitely a Kirlia.

"Well sweet. One step closer to badassery, right Helmet?" she said with a grin as she returned the two pokemon. Blinking, she gave a yawn, looking up to the sky, where the sun was already beginning to dip low into the sky. Was it that late already? The girl sighed, glancing off to the small grove of trees that appeared near the field, and began to trudge towards it; the town was too far, now. Finding a comfortable-looking spot, she set up her backpack for a pillow, and released Helmet again. "Go ahead and get some rest, but keep your psychic stuff out and about, just in case," she said, and the Kirlia nodded, moving to sit in a meditation state, its eyes closed.

Roland's View # - Right place, right time

"Just keep running!" Roland yelled to himself, trying to run faster than was physically possible.

Roland finally began to see the camp, and was slowly getting closer. He could just make out the others watching him, probably thinking it was funny. At this, the earth began to shake, nearly toppling the boy as he continued to sprite to the camp. Many of the Aianto weren't so lucky, as the shudder –which was slowly becoming more violent–, caused the Steel/Bug types to trip over their many legs, most of them being crushed by their own.

"Thank you!" Roland yelled to Ray and his Gible, who he could just see, and guessed that they had slowed down the Ant-Pokémon.

At this, he saw another flurry of attacks come from the other person (Whose name he still didn't know). GrassOath, caused the other Pokémon to seem slightly more encouraged. WaterGun, knocked many of the Aianto to the side. Dig, something buried through the earth, smashing through even more of the Bug/Steel-types. Flamethrower, a volley of fire hit even more of the colony, damaging them by four times more due to the type advantage. LavaPlume, a sea of lava crashed into them, which soon evaporated, but still causing massive damage.

"Aia- to, an!" called the remaining Aianto, still swarming in huge numbers.

ThunderWave. Roland looked around, searching for the source of the attack. Further up the hill, a horse-like figure stood, with a humanoid shade riding on top. Ozzy? The electricity, took even more out, despite the obvious type-disadvantage.

    ***

The Pokémon smashed through the mounds of earth, desperately looking for food. Nothing… The Fire-type slumped backwards, and listened to the gentle rumble of his stomach. It had been a couple of days since he had found a fresh Aianto nest, and even that was pushing it.

    *tap, tap, tap*

He knew that sound, the gentle rumbling of tiny feet making their way across the plains, an Aianto colony. It bemused him slightly why they were out of their nest in such huge numbers, but he didn't care, it meant his first good meal in days. The Anteater Pokémon galloped across the plains, using his keen sense of smell, and the drumming of feet to locate his next meal.

"Kuitaran!" he yelled, as the Pokémon smashed one of his claws into the colony of Bug/Steel types.

His fist burst into flames on contact, smashing a hole in the swarm.

    ***

    "Kuitaran!"

Roland wasn't sure what made the sound, but he was sure glad it did. And faint flash of heat hit his back, and soon his face as he turned. The Pokémon was huge, at least 2 metres tall on its hind legs, probably more. It soon gobbled up the injured Aianto with BugBite, ignoring the constant biting from the Aianto.

"East, give us some back up!" Roland yelled as he pulled out a Pokeball, ready to help the new Pokémon fend of the attackers.

A bright flash and the Nosepass appeared in front of Roland, ready for a fight.

The army of the ants was backing off, scared of other possible attacks.
This is a waste of time...
"I'm gonna train somewhere alone, you guys catch what you want here and we'll battle together later."
Ray withdrew Gible who was digging a hole and walked away.

The small dragon Pokemon was looking its trainer in his eyes, as he was telling him something.
"I'm going to use you for the tag team battle. But first, you need to know what teamwork is. So you're going to battle with Scyther.
Gible didn't like the idea. Gible didn't like anything at all. He shook his head.
"Come on.." Ray remembered the poffin he'd bought for his Pokemon. He grabbed the mild poffin from his bag and gave it to the huge-jawed Pokemon. As he was eating it, the trainer patted the dragon's head with his hand. Gible continued eating.
"Time for battle! I see a Miltank." He threw Scyther's GreatBall, and the bug Pokemon appeared in a blue flash of light. She turned and gave her trainer a curious look.
"I want you guys to beat that Miltank. You'll have to do it together."
    His Pokemon nodded slowly.
"Gible, buff yourself with Sword Dance while Scyther... uses Fury Cutter!" said the trainer and pointed at Miltank. It's the most common move in a Scyther.. I have to find out what other moves she knows.
Gible decided to listen to his trainer. It began dancing, like executing a ritual. Visually, nothing happened, but Ray knew Gible's claws and fangs were sharper than ever.
Scyther drew close to Miltank who noticed it and attacked the bug Pokemon with Stomp. Scyther was faster and it did a good hit with its scythes.
    "Gible use Dragon Claw!"
The dragon powerful released dragon fury, his arms caught in blue and red dragon flames, and he approached Miltank who was using Stomp on Scyther. Gible landed a powerful hit on Miltank's back which was a critical hit, which landed on Scyther's arm, not executing succesfully the move. Scyther threw it down and used Fury Cutter again, with greater speed and power. Poor Miltank wasn't able to do any damage at all. That's what happens when your Pokemon is tough, thought Ray Maverick as he grinned to his Pokemon.
He saw Gible getting white as it was ready to evolve. Well that was unexpected.
He evolved in a vicious looking Gabite.
"At last!" said Ray in happiness and dared to hug the Pokemon, who let him.

He continued developing Gabite and Scyther's teamwork with every possible battle he found in his way back to the camp.

  • The Aianto were losing numbers, especially after the giant pokemon came over and started eating them. "Now I feel sad for the things..." I decided to recall all my pokemon except for Cinder and Tsutaaja. "First things first, I need to think of a nickname for you...but that can wait. Our training for the double battle starts with these Aianto, got it?" The two pokemon nodded. "Ok then, Cinder use Flame wheel and Tsutaaja use...Razor leaf." Cinder rolled into a ball and began bouncing from pokemon to pokemon like a pinball. He was followed by razor leaf, which after bouncing off a few steel shells of the Aianto, hit Cinder causing his flame wheel to burn bigger. "Now use flamethrower and...vine whip." Tsutaaja picked up some Aianto with vines while Cinder shot them away with Flamethrower. "Now for the win, use Fire Oath and Grass Oath!" Cinder launched a Fire Oath and Tsutaaja a Grass Oath. The field started to burn, hurting the Aianto. As Tsutaaja was attacking, he began to glow white and changing form. When he was no longer glowing he was a different pokemon. "Ja!" The excited cry came from the excited newly evolved Janobii. "Awesome!" I ran up to Janobii and Cinder and hugged them, then fed them each a poffin. "Great job! Now, who says we go train against some wild pokemon, maybe battle Ray?" "Quil!" "Ja!" The pokemon became excited and rushed off in the direction Ray went.

Mia decided she had better get a little training in before the tournament. But she didn't want to head out to the plains simply, or more perhaps go around to the mountains and see what she can get. As she took the elevator down; many other people piled in. Various of them were most likely part of the Tournament or anything related to it. Vencrown was a busy city. When it reached the lobby, Mia descended down some stairs to the lobby. She looked around. The Vaporeon Fountains were sprinkling better then ever. Then something new popped up. A man in the corner was selling fishing poles. She walked over to inspect the quality of them. A fishing pole would assist in her journey.

"See 'nything you like?" the man asked.

"Just browsing, at the moment." Mia responded. Another redneck. She looked at the quality. It was pretty good, but could be better. She thought she should buy one.

"I'll take one, how much are they?" she asked, taking out her purse.

"100 for rod and reel." the man responded, simulating a cash-rubbing gesture in his hands. That was pretty good for their condition. She handed over some cash and took a rod, folded it up and put it in her bag. She looked at the map of the region. She would head to Runic Forest. But not too deep; she didnt want to get lost in the sprawling foliage that was the Runic Forest. The start of it wasn't too far of a walk from the city. Perhaps about 20 minutes. She began walking in her athletic suit, with her purse hanging on her shoulder and sunglasses drooping over her eyes. She looked around. Cars were going just about everywhere, and the massive stadium rose high above the other buildings. Eventually, she reached the Runic Borders. It seemed like a nice little picnic area at the start. Benches, a food stand, and a nice little pond. But then there was a trail that led deep into the forest. She would take that. She began walking through it. Almost immediately, sunlight was cut off from the many trees.

"Abaline, Dajule, and Anikka. Come out." she dropped her Pokeballs. They all adjusted themselves to the environment. Anikka hovered around her head. Mia continued walking. Dajule trailed behind, Abaline looking behind herself every once in a while to see if he was still there. They began to hear mysterious pokemon cries. Until the trail came to a stop. A river was there. It was almost calling for her to drop her new rod in. Anikka levitated around Mia's head, and Abaline drank some water while Dajule rested. Mia took her rod out of her backpack and unfolded it, throwing it in the water. Simple technique. Throw, catch, repeat. It wasn't over 30 seconds until she had the first nibble. She quickly reeled it in, an image of a Pokemon began to be more apparent as she drew closer. It eventually rose up on the water, and she placed it alongside on the ground. It looked very fish-like, but she had never seen one before. It was a brownish/grey colour. She opened up her Pokemon field index. She flipped until she matched the picture.

    FEEBAS
This elusive catch savored by all fishermen is rarely found, mainly in streams or lone lakes or ponds. Although it is very frail, it has the possibility of evolving into a beautiful, unique Pokemon, Milotic.
    Gender Differences:

She checked the gender on the Feebas. From what it said, it was obviously a female. Dajule will need a male buddy soon, she thought.
She had caught something rare on her first try. She took out a Pokeball, and captured the Feebas. She nicknamed it Kaisuki. Quite an elegant name for such an ominous fish, but if she was lucky enough to somehow get it to evolve. Noises were beginning to being heard from the forest. She didn't want to go much deeper. She began to head back. As she was walking, she noticed a few shadows up ahead. She was afraid to investigate.

"Anikka, please search what's up there." Mia whispered to her. Anikka closed her eyes momentarily and hovered over there. After about 10 seconds, she came flying out, untouched. She made her cry, and attempted to imitate what it was.

"What?" Mia made a confused look. She watched the motions a bit more carefully. She took out the field index and matched up what it was. Forretress. She finally came to the conclusion. They were renowned for being hard to catch, but worth the wait and worry. She approached the shadows. When she entered the horde, about 5 of them stared at her. As if cannons were shot, strange stubs sticking out of their holes sucked in. 4 of them dashed out, similiar to Anikka's levitating. One of them stayed put, with the stubs still out. It was an approach.

"Anikka! Use Shadow Ball! Dajule! Use metal claw! Abaline! Use Swords Dance!)

They all attacked, in unison. They were skilled fighters when it came to teamwork. Without one, the team seemed to fall apart. She set the Feebas back in the corner to watch. Kaisuki watched expressionless, with its eyes staring at every movement. Abaline was still dancing about; preparing her attack. Her claws seemed to pop out. Then, the Forretress managed to burst out a bunch of what it looked like, Spikes. Abaline had just finished her Swords Dance when she was hit by one.

"Abaline! Use Bite!" she yelled! Abaline swiftly moved to attack the Forretress. But she hit it in the wrong spot. Forretress Bounced her off as if she was nothing. The Forretress then began to spin horizontally. At increasing speeds, it became real fast then launched itself at Abaline. She was knocked down.

"No!" Mia screamed, walking over to Abaline. But Abaline got back up. She went in for the bite, and got one of the stubs. Perfect. The Forretress flailed itself uncontrollably. Mia acted quick, and rummaged her bag for the Poke Ball. She threw it straight at it, and prayed. She hoped. She closed her eyes for a few seconds, and did not hear it break open. She looked over, and the silence was true. She had captured Forretress.

"Oh my god!" she yelled, happily! Happy tears began to spill out.

"Wait until I show those idiots!" she screamed in the air. The pokemon were exhausted, especially Abaline. She put Abaline back in her ball, and began to return to the Hotel so she could wash up and prepare for the battle tonight.

  • "Congratulations to all who passed in the next round! Tomorrow, at 5 in the afternoon, we'll have our first official battle which will be 2 versus 2 with maximum of 4 Pokemon. See you soon!"The voice boomed and caused Matthew to be stirred at first. It followed only moments after he was victorious, forcing to end his cheering early.

"Lame," Matthew mumbled incoherently. "Can't there be something a little easier than battling? What about a talent show or something?" He complained loudly. He hated battling, mostly because he wasn't particularly skilled at it. After all, the only reason he even won was out of sheer luck that his opponent had a water Pokemon to face Ray, his Pikachu. It was a Magikarp to boot. He rubbed it off immediately and exited the Stadium in a rush. He avoided his teammates for the time being. It helped they ignored him and went off to their own business, mostly escaping to their rooms. Since Matthew lived in the city, he proceeded to his home with his family for a nice meal. After gloating about his victory (leaving out all the embarrassing parts to sound more heroic), Matthew quickly retreated to his room, slammed the door and let out his Pokemon from their balls.

"Okay you three. We need to toughen up. We suck in comparison to everyone else. I mean literally. I ain't losing to a bunch of small children….even though there is that one older woman…but she is a big meanie so we'll ignore her…..arch….screw it. Tommorrow! We train! At those plains to the west! Got it? Good." Matthew leapt into his bed. "Get some sleep," he ordered before crashing into a deep sleep with much snoring.

    ---------------------------------

    "BZZT! BZZT!"

A piercing alarm sound filled the room. In a daze, Matthew threw his arm across his bed and knocked the electronic device to the ground….

    CRASH!

Matthew grunted and rose slowly to his senses. "What was that?" He looked down. The remains of an alarm clock polluted his floor. After some introspection, Matthew pieced together the events of the past few moments. "Aw crap…..MOM! I broke another alarm clock!"

Knowing there wasn't much he could do about the whole thing, Matthew put on his clothes and called forth his Pokemon into their balls and left the room. Rushing downstairs, he sprinted into the kitchen and made a small bowl of cereal and began to eat with care so he could read the back of his cereal box.

"Honey, shouldn't you be hurrying up?" His mom began. "I remember hearing that you wanted to train in the morning for the next part in the tournament."

"It's still early. No need to rush," Matthew rebutted.

"You didn't look at the clock did you?" his mom laughed. Matthew slowly turned to the kitchen clock. Cereal fell from his mouth. He gasped, and began to drink the bowl of milk and wheat. "Slow down. I am sure your….team….is fine……" She was too amazed at her son's ability to eat with such speed without any ill effects.

"See ya later! Be back for dinner…..maybe." Matthew bolted out of the door, forgetting to close due to his impatience and lack of awareness of the world.

    -----------------------------------------

"Anemos Plains…." Matthew panted. "Good place to start. At least from what I hear. I got a few Pokeballs from the store for a good price since I am dating the manager's daughter. So, that should help. Right, Ri?" The Rilou barked in response. Matthew began to walk around the field attempting to find any members of his team, but quickly gave up out of a lack of care or concern. They can handle themselves, he thought. Meanwhile I am likely the weakest link, except for that nerd maybe. I need to find something strong to catch.

Matthew resolved that the only way to get any stronger was to proceed to beat up anything that moved. It was a shame that most of the Pokemon he found….well….outclassed him. Tauros and Miltank were tough cookies and everything else was a simple miss-match for him. Matthew needed an ace up his sleeve. But all he had was jokers.

Unable to muster enough courage to fight anything, Matthew skulked on the nearest tree for a moment. "Man…this suc---ow! What the hell? An apple? Why did his apple fall on my---" A growl could be heard nearby. Slowly turning around, Matthew looked to his left. It was a large head. Blue and tan. Eyes appeared closed. Mouth wide open with foam and drool dripped from every corner of its mouth. "Hey, you look like a Snorlax. A hungry one. Who thinks I stole this apple….."Matthew nervously laughed.

    "RI! RUN!"

    --------------------------------------

    Moments later, nothing changed.

Matthew was desperately running for his life. Ri was quick to follow, unable to be returned to his Pokeball due to the fact a large, angry Snorlax was pursuing the group with zeal only matched patriots in a national army. The only thing that worked in Matthew's favor at this point was that he was a track athlete and therefore knew how to run with the best of them. Ri was his frequent training partner and had excellent endurance. Snorlax, though, wasn't about to give up and continued its pursuit. "Damn! What is this thing's problem?" Matthew complained loudly. "Mr. Snorlax! I didn't steal your apple!"

Snorlax didn't care. He wanted Matthew's soul.

If I just keep up this pace, Snorlax will fall asleep or something. Just gotta keep running.

    Or not.

Snorlax suddenly had a brilliant idea and executed it immediately. Throwing itself in the air, Snorlax body slammed the ground, causing a shockwave within the ground in which Matthew was at gravity's mercy as he was launched into the ground. Rolling against the ground, Matthew was beaten and bloodied. "Owwww. Yeah, didn't see that coming," Matthew coughed, almost humored by the violent Snorlax. Crawling on the floor, Matthew eventually lifted himself off the ground. But Snorlax had other plans and snatched Matthew with his massive paws. Yelping like a helpless child, Matthew was caught staring at his own death in the heartless expression of a hungry man eating Snorlax.

Then it stopped. In fact, it dropped Matthew suddenly forcing Matthew to crash to the ground. Sure, his bottom was sore but it was better than becoming one with stomach acid. "What the? What just happened? Hey Ri! Where are you buddy?" Matthew's eyes re-directed to the Snorlax. A blue Pokemon had struck the Snorlax in the gut with a bold Force Palm. Hard. Enough force was in the blow to knock the Snorlax down, nearly defeated. "Ri? Is that you?" The victorious Pokemon turned to Matthew and smiled. It was Ri. Just evolved. In his master's time of need, it had evolved to Lucario. Admirable.

"Thanks so much!" Matthew ran over to his Pokemon and hugged him. "Now let's catch this jerk," Matthew yelled and tossed one of his Pokeballs at the nearly unconscious Snorlax. Violently shaking for several moments, the ball stopped in its track.

"Yahooo! We got a Snorlax! High Five!" Matthew and his newly evolved Lucario cheered together.

"I think we can present ourselves to the other group members,"

  • I kept running behind Jabonii and Cinder, eventually coming to a stop. "Huff Huff, breathe! BREATHE!" I sat down, exhuasted. I looked around and saw a few of my teammates. Ossy on a Shimama, The "Do you liekz Mudkip?" dude being eaten alive by a Snorlax, Roland, and lastly Ray. "Hey! Ray!" I ran up to him. "Hey! You wanna battle?" I pulled out two poke balls, ready for battle.

It was about 2 PM, but she returned to the Hotel Atlantis. She admired the Vaporeon Fountains once again, and took the elevator up to her suite. She walked down the majestic long hallways, carpeted in beautiful threaded rugs, until she arrived at her room. She swiped her key; and went inside. Things were exactly as she had left it when she left, except the beds were made and the kitchen was cleaned up. She went in the bathroom to take a shower, brush her teeth, and that sort of stuff... then she went to her bedroom to throw on her black dress. She smiled in the mirror to the side, and swiped on her dark sunglasses. She didn't want to just blow herself tonight. She wanted to remain cool and covered.

Mysteriously taking the world by storm, she thought as she left the room to the kitchen. She took out a granola bar from the pantry and walked over to the Television in the Main Room. Flowers were scattered around the area. She looked outside onto the balcony. Sunkerns were sitting in the soil, too weak to even move. She knew they were newborns. When exposed to the sun enough, they'd be some nice healthy flowers. She flipped on the news, chewing on the granola bar slowly. A fancy, rotating logo of the words Local News showed up on the screen.

"Hello, I'm Lisa Haufferman with Local News. The Argent Tournament will begin this evening, where the first contestants will experience their first official battle. Yesterday, they arrived in Vencrown, and tonight at... 5:00 PM I believe they will have their first official battle, which will be a 2 v 2. Back to you, Phil." she turned off the news.

They didnt have to go tell everyone... It's not really a big deal until the Final battle, right? she thought to herself. She doubted her words, but she had no idea anyway. She returned to the bathroom, to do her makeup. She moved her sunglasses out of her eyes to expose them, then she dotted them with some eyeshadow. Why did she do this? No one would see them most likely for the rest of the night. She swiped on some caramel glossy lip gloss, and rubbed a little blush on her face. She was ready for tonight. She flicked on a little eyeliner, and returned the face back to her Sunglasses. She looked at the time. 3:13 PM. She still had a bit, as from the hotel it was about a 12 minute walk. But they were expected to get there early of course. Mia laid down, and let her Pokemon out to let them wiggle around a bit before the big fight.

"Bring it on! Gabite, Scyther, go!" Ray nodded at the two Pokemon to go. They stood in front of him and waited for orders. The trainer winked at the other trainer. No mercy.
    "Prepare for battle.."
His Pokemon buffed themselves. Gabite started dancing and Scyther started gathering the power of the wind in her hands.

    Roland's view #7 - Fourth fighter

    "East, use RockSmash!" Roland ordered.

The Nosepass gave little acknowledgement of the order, other than his 'arms' moving outward slightly. The two rocks fired rapidly, smashing into the Aianto, with East standing remarkably still. At this, a barrage of leaves came in, just increasing the damage. And finally, a wheel of flames came barrelling in, taking out even more. But the real force came in as the Anteater-Pokémon's fist began to heat-up, causing flames to surround it.

"Kuitar!" it yelled, as its fist smashed into the remains of the horde.

The Aianto were small in numbers, and the rest were smart enough to hurry back to their home, and try to re-build. Roland felt a little sorry for invading their nest, and then knocking out most of their family. Roland turned to see the others, many of which were heading back. It had already been one hell of a day…

"Thank you, Ku-" Roland's mind went blank.

These Pokémon were very rare in these parts, and he knew he wouldn't be able to remember the names of every Pokémon. He pulled out a small electronic note-pad from his pocket, and pressed a small button, causing it to whir into life.

    *Kuitaran – The Anteater Pokémon*
With its tongue of fire burning at high temperatures, it melts Aianto's steel body and eats the insides

"That explains it" Roland muttered to the Kuitaran, "you were hungry…"

He patted the Fire-type, although fairly cautiously due to it quite clearly being a Fire-type. The Pokémon's fur wasn't hot, just warm.

"Hey Kuitaran, why don't you come with me, and Quay, we're heading through the Tournament!"

    XXX

He stood rather bemused. This human was clearly grateful, and he seemed like a decent enough trainer. But did he really want to leave his home?

"Kui" he said, as he nodded.

The human grinned, and then pulled out a Pokeball from his belt. The classic procedure of capturing Pokémon. This one was different however. It was a shade of chrome, with a scarlet ring around the middle. Within seconds, he was absorbed into the ball.

    "Tar…"

    XXX

"Well Quay, looks like we've got a new ally. Want to do some training?" Roland asked, clutching the 'luxury ball' containing his new Pokémon.

  • Ray sent out Scyther and Gabite. "So Gible evolved, huh? Well, Cinder! Jabonii! Prepare for battle!" The two pokemon jumped in front of me. "Grass Oath and Fire Oath!" They both launched their attacks, causing the field to burn. "Now use Flamewheel on Scyther and Vine whip on Gabite!" The two pokemon moved in to attack...

Ray smiled as he had predicted that attack. The field was burning his Pokemon, but he didn't quite worry. Gabite wasn't really affected by the fire and Scyther was flying with its small wings.
"Gabite, use Earthquake! Scyther, Razor Wind on the ground and Counter Cinder's Flame Wheel!"
Cinder became a flaming ball that rolled directly on Scyther. Janobii readied a Vine Whip to hit Gabite. But before any of his foe's Pokemon landed a hit, a powerful quake shook the ground, which was coming from Gabite's feet. And then, a strong gust was sent to the ground by Scyther. The burning grass was cut, and the flames were caught in the strong winds, making the gust a flamestorm which headed towards Janobii.
    Yes! Double super effect...
Cinder dodged the Gust and hit Scyther, doing a good amount of damage. Scyther was hurt, but it swung her body to hit Quilava in the face with a kick.
    "Gabite, Scyther, ready yourselves!"

  • Ray was able to use the field I created against me. "Jabonii! Dodge!" The snake pokemon jumped out of the way, but not fast enough. His tail caught on fire and he began to freak out. "Jabonii, dig your tail into the dirt." The pokemon obeyed and put his tail in the earth, putting out the flames. "Cinder, use Nitro Charge!" Cinder boosted its speed and went to attack. "Now use Smokescreen and Swift! Jabonii, Sunny Day, Double Team and Solarbeam!" The sun grew bright as both pokemon went in for the attack.

"Sunny day... hm, could be proven useful."
"Gabite, Aerial Ace to Janobii before he moves!" Gabite charged to the grass Pokemon.
"Scyther, release another Razor Wind to counter Swift!"

Iris awoke with a low yawn, Helmet shoving her to try and get her awake. "Whazzit..?" she asked with a grunt, her hair rather disheveled and her eyes not exactly looking awake. Blinking again, she realized that she was about two feet away from a Grovyle. One that didn't look thrilled to see her as it let out a low growl.

Cursing, the girl, now wide-awake, scrambled to her feet. "Helmet! Thunderbolt!" she called out, in her haste forgetting that Electric wasn't exactly effective against Grass types. It showed, too, as the creature merely let out a low growl in return, darting forward and slashing the Kirlia with a Leaf Blade attack, causing the creature to stumble backwards, falling onto its backside.

"All right punk, you asked for it!" she called out, Helmet slowly getting up to his feet, though the slash he'd taken looked pretty bad. "Helmet, show him your Psychic attack!" she called out, and sent out the pokeball containing Swirls. "Swirls, show him the hidden power of your Ice Beam!" she called out, which had been a gift to her from the trainers in the Snowpoint Gym.

The Grovyle growled as the Psychic attack hit it full force, but it didn't look to be down and out yet...until the beam of pure frost crashed into it, sending the thing back down to the ground. Iris contemplated capturing it, but she wasn't a grass trainer. She really wasn't a Psychic one either, but she knew that Helmet would, somehow, gain fighting-type abilities. She just wasn't sure how to bring them out.

"Swirls, knock him out with a Body Slam!" she called, and the little creature sprinted forward, crashing into the grass pokemon who was still trying to stand up, sending it down to the ground, out for the count. "Yeah! Good job, Swirls!" she called with a grin, which somehow increased in size as the little water pokemon's tail fell off. She knew this was the sign that it was about to evolve, and quickly picked up the Poliwag, before depositing her in a small pond nearby.

The creature began to glow, and she watched as its body transformed, becoming more human-like, though it retained the swirl-like decoration on its belly, though it did obtain arms now, as it became a Poliwhirl! "All right! You two rock!" she exclaimed, now that Helmet and Swirls were now in their second stage of evolution.

She raised her arm to call them back, when Swirls' eyes narrowed, and bits of frost collected on its hands as it charged and fired an ice beam, the line of cold energy only a few inches from Iris' side. Not one to doubt her pokemon, the girl hopped back away from the beam and turned around, where two more Grovyle were standing, looking to have dodged the ice beam. "You wanna fight two on two, eh?" she asked, giving a smirk. "All right. Swirls and Helmet, you're up!" she called out, the two evolved pokemon moving to stand in front of her, at the ready.

She wasn't worried; even if these two managed to best her pokemon, she still had Frost. "Let's go~!" she called, and the battle commenced.

  • Ray gave Gabite and Scyther their commands. Cinder's smokescreen made it almost impossible to see. "Cinder, Crush claw on Gabite!" The pokemon moved in to protect his partner, giving it enough time to use its attack. The solarbeam headed straight for Gabite. I didn't even bother to wait for it to hit. "Cinder, Flamethrower on Scyther and Jabonii, Twister on Gabite!" The pokemon obeyed and went in for what was hopefully the final blow.

"Gabite Earthquake to finish off Cinder!" The ground Pokemon set of another wave.
The Razor Wind clear out the smoke, and blocked off Cinder's Flamethrower, while heading to Janobii.
"Scyther, Aerial Ace to Janobii!" Scyther went in the gust of wind, protecting by it.

    Roland's view #8 - Tag titan

Roland placed the Luxury ball -containing the newly christened 'Aruik'- on his belt, and began to make his way back to the city. He wasn't the kind of person to spend a huge amount of time outside, especially not this far from Vencrown. Quay continued to rest himself on Roland's shoulder, and occasionally tweet if something caught his eye, but it was never more than a Pidgey and such.

"Well Quay. What do you say we find something to train against?"

Quay seemed a little hesitant after the recent attack from the Aianto, but he quickly perked up and nodded. Ray and the other boy were fighting each other, and Roland had thought for a moment about challenging Ozzy, but he would probably have something more important to do, and if he wanted a battle, he'd ask later. It had only taken a couple of minutes to find a suitable target, a Tauros and a Miltank.

"Quay, take position on that tree, I'm going to try out Aruik's skills" Roland ordered, as Quay warped to the tree branch.

Roland pulled the Pokéball from his belt, and flung it into the sky. It exploded in a scarlet fire, and revealed the Anteater Fire-type.

    "Aruik, use FlameBurst!"

The Anteater Pokémon burst into flames, much as the name suggests. It slammed its body into the Tauros, and knocked it backwards. Roland had taken a wild guess with that move, and it seemed to have paid off, or so he thought. The Miltank performed the Rollout move, toppling Aruik, and giving the Taurus a chance to recover.

"Quay, move back. Aruik, perform FurySwipes on Miltank!"

"Nat/Kui" the two said in unison, as Quay warped back to Roland.

Aruik hacked and slashed at Miltank, but only managed to harm it slightly before the Tauros charged with Headbutt. But the Kuitaran jumped backwards, dodging the strike.

"Quay, use Telekinesis to subdue Tauros. Aruik, strike Miltank with FirePunch" Roland ordered, once again.

Quay strained his psychic abilities to lift the heavy Tauros, and managed to leave the Normal-type defenceless. But none the less, it struggled to escape. Aruik took his chance and struck the foe with FirePunch, but the wrong target. He smashed his fist into the Tauros, trying to finish it. This gave Miltank a chance to counter with BodySlam on Aruik.

"Aruik, hold back, Quay, throw Tauros at Miltank"

Quay did as instructed, but Aruik did something even more unexpected. He launched a flamethrower at the flying Tauros, turning it into a ball of burning beef. It slammed into Miltank with the combined force of Fire and Psychic.

'Actually, that could be useful…' Roland thought, planning out situations it could be used.

The Tauros and Miltank fled, realising they had no chance.

'Why do they always run?' He thought, hoping he could have caught one of them.

Nether the less, it was good practise, and now he had a new double-battle tactic. By now, Roland had completely lost track of time, but he could tell that it wouldn't be anywhere near noon yet. It didn't matter, the more time he had to practice; the more likely he was to win, even if he didn't actually battle this round.

"Good job you two, even if you didn't listen to me Aruik" he said, looking at the Kuitaran.

He slumped down on the grass and rested. Today had already been one hell of a day. Arrived at Anemos Plains late, attacked by a swarm of Aianto, caught a Kuitaran, and tested out his combat capabilities. But he knew well enough that it was the first of many.

  • Ray commanded Gabite to use earthquake. "Cinder! Jabonii! Jump!" Jabonii jumped into the air, dodging Earhtquake. Cinder, however, was not lucky enough and fainted. As Jabonii was in air, Scyther came in with an Aerial Ace. "Jabonii, Razor Leaf!" Jabonii launched a Razor leaf at Scyther, but failed to counter it and got hit. Jabonii fell to the ground, hard, barely enduring the attack. "Cinder, return." The pokemon returned to its pokeball. "Hiyappu, come out. Use Acrobat on Scyther. Jabonii, Synthesis."
