Murkrow continued to eat the juicy blue berries that grew in the rather thick tree he was standing on. After a good hour of walking (or flying in his case), his trainer had finally called to a stop to allow him to rest. Good thing too, because his wings were not made for long flying, especially since he was so unused to flying. Darn that old professor for keeping him cramped up in a pokeball all the time!
"Murk," Murkrow said with a little heat as he reached for another blue berry, pleased that these juicy berries filled him with energy.
"Peo," a new voice said suddenly.
Murkrow paused, beak just centimeters away from the berry. A golden feathered head appeared. It was a Pidgey, but it was oddly colored. With a beaky smirk, Pidgey grabbed the blue berry and swallowed it.
"Murko!" Murkrow cawed angrily, flapping his wings quickly to gain a good distance.
"Pgey," Pidgey cooed smugly, flapping his own wings, but only he lunged with a good Tackle attack before Murkrow had any idea what was happening. "Pe!"
Startled by the attack, Murkrow let out a loud caw that alerted his trainer immediately, especially when he was literally body slammed out of the tree he was in. "Kro!" Murkrow squacked. Flapping angrily, Murkrow tore his beak into the Pidgey's hide.
Bryan, who had been sitting under the very tree Murkrow had been feasting on, was jolted to his feet as soon as he heard the first cry. "What the hell?" he snarled, baring his teeth in anger from the shock. Glaring up, he saw, just in time, to see Murkrow angrily peck a golden colored Pidgey before, to his surprise, another golden Pidgey shot through the tree branches and Tackled him away from its partner.
"Krroow!" Murkrow wailed, flailing through the air.
"Murkrow, get them away with Icy Wind!" Bryan snapped quickly.
"Kro," Murkrow grunted irritably as he got control of himself. Angling to dodge two Tackle's from the crazy Pidgey's, he opened his beak and let loose a cold blast of air. The twinkling blue sparkles shot through the air, right towards the two shiny pokemon.
Pidgoo!" the two cawed, flapping desperately to dodge the Icy Wing. Angling, the two dive bombed Murkrow once more.
"Another Icy Wi--"
"Wait!" a voice called, startling Bryan enough into breaking his order.
Bryan hissed in displeasure as he turned to see a bespectaled man in a lab coat run up to him. "What?" he snapped, just as Murkrow was hit in the chest and back by the two Pidgey.
"Murk!" Murkrow cawed, blasting another Icy Wind that, finally, hit the two Pidgey.
"Wait! Please don't hurt them," the man pleaded. "I need them..."
"Pidg," the Pidgey cawed in anger when they were hit by the ice attack. The three birds flew around warily before the two Pidgey saw the strange man. Twittering, the two dove towards the small forest of trees in the distance.
"No! Oh, no, come back," the man moaned, raising a hand towards the Pidgey as if he could grab them.
"Kro," Murkrow sniffed, glaring after the two before fluttering to Bryan's feet.
Bryan scowled at the Murkrow. "That was pathetic," he stated. "Two little Pidgey's got the best of you." Murkrow gave him a glare, but Bryan ignored it and turned to the man. "Who are you?" he demanded.
The man flinched at his town. "Er, I'm Bert," he answered. He offered a shaky smile. "I'm an aide for Professor Oak, and I've been studying the shiny pokemon that live around here. Unfortunately, there are so few, and the only ones I have found are those two Pidgey. I've been tracking them for a few weeks, hoping to find their nest so I can capture them and their eggs."
"Right, sounds fascinating," Bryan drawled, already walking away.
"Wait!" Bert called, stopping Bryan. "Please, I was wondering, with you being a trainer, if you would help. Pleae, I have no pokemon, but I do have pokeballs."
"You hope to capture two pokemon without having your own?" Bryan asked in disgust. "Aren't you supposed to be an aide?" Meaning why are you an idiot?
Bert flushed. "The professor doesn't have any extra pokemon, and me being new and..."
"What's in it for me?" Bryan interrupted.
Bert faltered, apparently thinking about it. "The power experience for Murkrow?" he said helpfully.
"Kro!" Murkrow cawed helpfully, raising his head in agreement. He wanted some pay back.
"Murkrow, start searching then," Bryan said. Fighting two shinies... how much would Murkrow grow?
"Kkrm!" Murkrow said with a nod. Flapping his wings, he quickly gained altitude. Glaring, he followed the scent of the two Pidgey's and led Bryan and Bert into the forest.
"As soon as you see them, use Icy Wind," Bryan commanded. "Don't wait for us."
"Be careful of the eggs, though," Bert said quickly.
"Ko," Murkrow grumbled, rolling his eyes but he headed on. When at last they came across the two Pidgey's, one was standing above a nest that held two eggs while the other was flying over the nest. The eggs were the usual Pidgey brown, but each one had a golden spot. "Krooo!" Murkrow screamed, startling the two Pidgey. Beak wide, a blast of Icy Wind tore at their feathered bodies.
"Peo!" they cried, falling to the ground in shock as bits of ice began to cover their wings.
"Watch the eggs!" Bert screamed.
"Krowo!" Murkrow snapped, flying over to the two and began to Peck furiously. He was still angry over the theft of his food. Besides, who cared if the eggs died? It would be a tasty meal.
The two Pidgey flailed away, both looking hurt physcially and in pride. "Poo!" they cried, flapping their wings hard to creat a large Sand Attack.
"Good," Bryan growled. "Keep attacking them without mercy." Bert stared at him warily before looking at the battle completely wide eyed. "Pursuit," Bryan ordered.
"Kom!" Murkrow cawed, flapping over the two Pidgey as they both zoomed by in a Tackle. Blurring, a dark energy covered his beak as he struck one in the side, causing it to begin spiraling out of control and right into a try.
"Pidge!" its mate cried in anger, flapping angrily. Spiraling on his own accord to get some sort of demented twitsed Tackle, the golden Pidgey zoomed right at an astonished Murkrow.
"Remarkable!" Bert cried, taking notes. "Who would have thought a wild pokemon would know such an ingenious move!"
"Glad you approve," Bryan hissed angrily. "Murkrow, Icy Wind, and finish it!"
"Mor!" Murkrow cried, flying away from the Pidgey that had just Tackled it. Raising his beak at its mate, the one who banged into a tree, he unleashed the icy attack.
"Peooe!" she cried, flapping crazily but quickly slowed as her wings began to chi over with ice. Slowly, she began to fall, much to her mates horror.
"Pidg!" he cried, flying at her in an effort to stop her fall.
"Now!" Bryan barked.
"Murkorw!" Murkrow cawed happily, closing his eyes and flapping freely with his beak wide open in a grin as he unleashed his final Icy Wind. "Krrro!"
The two Pidgey screeched in both pain and shock as the cold air whipped against them, bringing more and more ice chips to their body. "Poeo," they muttered in pain, falling unconcious before they even landed on the ground.
Murkrow flew to the ground and landed expertly. He puffed out his chest, though he did look exhausted, if a little full of himself. "Kro," Murkrow smirked as he began to clean his feathers.
"Oh, thank you!" Bert cried, already fumbling for two pokeballs. He tossed them pitifully, one almost missing a Pidgey completely, but they managed, and the two were sucked inside. The pokeballs shook three times before stopping with an audible click. "Wonderful!" Bert exclaimed, picking up the pokeballs. "Now if you'll help me with the eggs..."
"Help yourself," Bryan interrupted. "I was here for the battle, nothing else. You can get the eggs yourself."
Flabbergasted, Bert watched as the young man who had helped with this remarkable capture walk away. He turned to stare at the boys Murkrow, startled to see the dark type give him a smirk befor flying up, already catching up to his trainer. "Er, thanks?"
All Bert heard was Murkrow's laugh as he and his trainer headed toward the next town.
