  • OoC: password - 'no one likes me'. Sorry I typed it all up on a word processor last night so I kinda just C+Ped it all in without a second thought... promise I read the rules!
I can cope with Azurill but I'll be making my second catch at the earliest interval haha.

Let's just say Skatey left Growlithe, the family pet, at home to look after dear ol' mum (possibly to be reuinted with later on, wink wink) and will meet her Azurill at the lab in Pallet like everybody else.

  • Okay, Gecokroit and .Swift - Accepted!

    First post is here:

    Chapter 1 - Pallet Town
    Number of posts: 1

Yes, its the basic starting post at the beginning of any journey roleplay - getting up, getting your starter from Professor Oak and heading to Route 1 to start your journey! Remember to pick up your Pokedex and Pokeballs from Oak as well. And if anyone eats bacon I'm going to kill them

A note on Pokeballs: Once you've picked them up, your character will have an unlimited amount of Pokeballs. The only items that you will have limited amounts of are listed under "Key Items" in the OOC and are things like Evolution stones or TMs.

  • Bryan trudged down the path that led away from the orphanage he had all but grown up in towards Pallet Town's lab. There Bryan would recieve his first pokemon, and from then on out, Bryan would be forever gone from his hell hole of a home. While the orphanage wasn't abusive, had limited amounts or food or forced the children into slaves, the atmosphere was far too crouded for Bryan's taste. He was excited, in a sense, simply because he could leave and do pretty much whatever he wanted, and good thing too about becoming a pokemon trainer, because being eighteen meant being kicked out of the orphanage.

Upon seeing the sight of the large white lab, Bryan felt just a bit tentative and hastily licked his teeth, only to wince in slight pain and agitation. Really, he should have learned to control that urge long ago. For whatever reason, Bryan had always had sharp teeth, and even an innoccent brush against the tongue could give it a nice nick.

"Sick," Bryan hissed as he spat at the ground, barely paying any mind to the tiny amount of blood mixed in with the saliva.

Turning his attention back to the lab, Bryan let out an annoyed huff and knocked on the door, pleased to hear that his annoyance couldn't be heard from the echoing knocks. Within seconds, a pale looking man with black hair and large square glasses opened the door. "Yes, may I help you?"

Bryan frowned at the man, pleased to see that he was taller. It always pleased him to see that he beat some people physically for some reason. "I'm here for a pokemon," Bryan grunted.

The man looked suspiciously at Bryan, perhaps wondering why any young man wouldn't even offer a smile when they were about to start their pokemon journey. "Name?"

Bryan scowled. He could already tell he wasn't trusted, even though they had just met. It went like that everywhere. No matter who it was he met, he always seemed untrustworthy, like a sly person who was waiting to steal. Running a hand through his black hair that had natural purple tips, Bryan drawled, "Bryan Kase."

"Kase... yes, I remember," the aide said with a hint of disappointment, almost as if he had wanted to turn Bryan away. "Very well, come in. I'll go get the proffesor."

Yes, you go fetch him, Bryan wanted to say, but instead held his tongue and followed the man inside. Within moments, an extremely old looking professor walked in. Despite his old age and seemingly weak body, the professor had a slight jump to his step. "Mr. Kase, is it?" he asked to Bryan after a whispered word from his aide.

"That's me," Bryan said, tugging a bit on his backpack to make the weight a bit more bearable. The proffesor grinned broadly and gestured for him to follow. Despite himself, Bryan all but glided after him on silent feet with a hint of curiousity.

"Well, let's see here," Proffesor Oak mused as he grabbed a few items. "Pokeballs and Pokedex, of course," he said with a soft smile as he handed Bryan the items. "Very important items, so be careful with them, but now we move onto the most important item of all."

"The pokemon," Bryan said, moving over to a lengthy table that held quite a few pokeballs. His eyes wandered over the balls. "What's in them?" he asked gruffly, not wanting to choose something weak and useless.

"That's a surprise," Proffesor Oak said with a secretive smile.

Grimacing, Bryan allowed his purple eyes to wander carefully before grabbing a random ball in the middle. "This one," he said, tone just a bit harsh and possessive.

The old proffesor smile. "Good choice! And now, for the pokemon that weren't chosen." With a snap, a screen above the pokeballs lit up, showing off different pokemon.

Out of all the pokemon shown, there was only one good one; a Magby. While there was an Eevee, Eevee's were well known for being rather weak. While Bryan wouldn't mind a Jolteon or Umbreon, he needed friendship or an evolution stone, both which he could not offer. The other pokemon were pitiful. A Budew and Azumaril. Bryan glanced down at the pokeball in his hand. This pokemon... had better not be weak.

"Thanks," Bryan said, allowing a bit of the greatfulness he was feeling to be shown.

"No problem, my boy!" Oak said heartily and waving him out. "Just make sure you make a fine trainer of yourself.

"As long as this pokemon isn't useless," Bryan drawled as soon as he was out of the lab. Feeling just a little apprehensive, as he didn't want to see he truly he did have a weak pokemon, Bryan tossed to the pokeball.

With a bright flash of white light, a black feathered bird appeared. It raised its wings and cawed with its crooked beak. The top of its head had an array of feathers that were shaped like a hat and its tail feather's were fluffed out and seemingly tied together with a red band that made it look like a broom. "Murkrow!" it cawed, digging at the ground with some sharp talons and glancing up at Bryan with a cocky look.

Bryan looked down. "A Murkrow," he murmered. He glared at the cocky look on the dark types face. "Don't look like much," he said, pleased to see the cocky smirk turn into a frown an indignant cry. "Well, what can you do?" Bryan demanded. "Cause I'm telling you now; if you're weak, you're out of here."

"Kro! Mr!" Murkrow snapped with a flap of his wings. Rising into the air, Murkrow dove at the ground and dug up a nice sized hole with his beak. "Krow," Murkrow boasted, gesturing to the hole in the ground that showed a shiny penny inside.

Bryan sneered. "So you can find shiny items. What other attacks?"

Frazzled by his trainers inability to be awed, Murkrow opened his beak wide and blew a very cold wind, right at his trainer. "Krow!"

Bryan let out an angered hiss as he moved away, right out of line of the Icy Wind attack. Although he missed the attack, his skin was prickling with goosebumps. He absolutely hated the cold. "Not bad," he admitted. A pokemon with a special move... "You may be useful after all."

"Mrur!" Murkrow agreed as he picked up the shiny penny. Flapping his wings, Murkrow alighted on Bryan's shoulder. Digging into his bag, Murkrow found an empty pocket and placed it in there before sitting comfortably on his trainer's shoulders.

"You may keep that pocket as long as you find useful items," Bryan commanded with a glare at his pokemon, trying to brush the thing off his arm.

"Kro," Murkrow grumbled, taking off from the shoulder and into the sky, right above his trainer. With a nod, Murkrow let out a bellow that said he understood.

"Good," Bryan murmered as he took off towards Route 1.

  • Skatey wrapped her overcoat tighter around her body as the heavy blast of wind generated by the departing train swept over her body and through her hair. Tsk! She desperately attempted to fix her fringe with her fingers; Skatey believed that always, you should look 'presentable' at worst.

Exiting the station to greet a sunny day, Skatey smiled down on the quaint town. How cute, she thought, with a slightly obnoxious aura of the big city girl-superiority complex.

'Excuse me, do you know where Professor Oak's lab is?' she asked a woman gardening behind a white picket fence. Tilting her straw hat up, the lady pointed northward to an elaborate structure and smiled broadly, red lipstick gleaming.

'That'a way, dear.' she said and called 'good luck!' after Skatey who had, perhaps rudely, offered only an awkward grin in response before jolting towards the institution and up the tall set of concrete steps.

She pressed an intercom button and immediately, the low crackling it emitted faded and the mirrored glass door opened to reveal a small man with pointy facial fatures and beady black eyes behind a thick set of glasses; Skatey stifled a giggle as she couldn't help but notice the professor's aide resembled a lab Rattata.

'Cooper, Caitlin?' he said, matching the nodding adolescent with the only female name on the list. 'Do come in. The professor is waiting for you,' he said shortly, and Skatey walked nervously towards a tall but slightly hunched, aged man. Even the gray in his hair seemed to be fading slowly to snowy white and his face was lined with wrinkles. However, her eyes were transfixed on a metal bench littered with Pokeballs.

'Ahem.' a crackly voice sounded behind her and she immediately spun around with a hand at the ready.

'Professor Oak! Such a pleasure to meet you... me, and my mum, we're both big fans!' she said eagerly, her tiny hand engulfed in his heavy paw in vigorous shake.

'Aha! Well send my regards!' the professor laughed brightly, taking a Pokeball from the bench and polishing it gingerly with the hem of his white coat. 'Now perhaps, young lady, you'd be more interested to meet your first Pokemon.'

Skatey started at the ball curiously; she'd been warned the starter Pokemon were a little 'lack lustre' this year but whatever - Pokemon are aways cute as babies, she'd reasoned. She pressed the button - once to a enlarge it, and a second time to create a beam of white particles which slowly formed into a blue spherical creature with a long, zigzagging black tail attached to an 'anchor', a slightly smaller ball. Facing away from its new trainer with its flipper-like feet glued to the cold marbled tiles, the confused Azumarill immediately begun to sob.

'Wow!' Skatey said and fell to her knees, scooping it into her arms. 'Calm down little baby boo-boo n'aww...' she murmured and Oak raised a brow.

'I'm afraid that if you treat it like that, it's not going to be a very formidable opponent in the arena.' he said severely and Skatey shrugged, still cradling the befuddled baby Pokemon.

'Yeah I was going to say - no offence, it's really cute, but it looks kinda useless. What's up with that?' she said, examining the blue ball.

'You'd be surprised.' Oak said with a wink. 'Now, are you going to give HER a nickname?'

'Oh! Yes!' Skatey cried immediately and begun studying the Pokemon, its feet flittering desperately beneath her. 'How about... Flounder? Or... Ball-E or something?' Oak frowned.

'Well... out of those two, I think I like the first one better.'

'Okay! Then it's decided, Flounder my girl, nice to meet you.' she smiled, tickling her under the chin.

'Zuu marill!' Flounder cried, brushing Skatey's neck with her tail which Skatey dismissed as an equivalent handshake.

'You'll be needing these,' Oak continued, tapping her on the shoulder, and bestowed upon her a Pokedex, as well as a handful of Pokeballs. 'Hopefully you know what to do with them?'

'Yes! Of course! I won't let you down!' Skatey gasped, sliding the tools into her bag. 'Thank you so much!' she cried with a mock-salute and strutted briskly out of the office, eager to take Flounder from the sterile, white-walled environment of the lab and introduce her to someplace a little more lively.

'Socialisation is important!' she said to Flounder who she had hugged to her chest. She noticed coming down the stairs she had just moments ago - Pokemon-less - ascended, that a few more trainers had gathered to receive their license to train. She noticed one had already visited Oak, she assumed, for he was studiously observing a Murkrow perched upon his outstretched finger. Skatey was amused by his expectant expression - she hated Murkrows, for they spent Goldenrod winters swarming the city.

'Congrats?' she offered to him cautiously as she walked past. Leaning against the stone fencing that encircled the complex, she smiled into Flounder's doughy black eyes and remembered playing with wild Marills that inhabited a pond in a Lilycove park as a little kid.

'Not SO bad, I guess...' she sighed, petting her slick but velvety fur.

Jason tossed and turned in the bed until he rolled off, knocking his head on the floor. The shock from the hit woke him up in a cold sweat. He had the nightmares again. They weren't really nightmares as much as parts of Jason's life that actually happened.. being replayed in his sleep in the form of a nightmare. Jason brought his arm up and wiped the cold sweat from his brow as he breathed heavily. Sometimes the 'nightmares' were about the abuse he suffered at his dad's hands... sometimes it was replays of what happened in the laboratory... and sometimes it was about how his brother had betrayed him. Jason didn't know if he'd ever be able to trust anybody again.

Normally, whenever he had his 'nightmares', he was in a foul mood the rest of the day, but today was different. Today he was getting out of this place. Maybe if he got far away, the nightmares would stop and he could live a normal life. That wasn't the only upside though. No. Today, Jason would also be getting a partner. Awesomeness. But it would also mean saying goodbye to his Aunt Pat and Uncle Bill. Aure, they were nice and raies him when his dad was arrested, but something always felt off, although it probably had to do with his 'mutations'. Jason sprawled out across the floor and stretched like a cat after a long nap before getting off the floor to get dressed.

    ----------

"Now are you sure you have everything you need?" Aunt Pa said giving Jason a hug, her breath smelling of alcohol. She was an alcoholic, but luckily, not a violent one... In fact... Jason had never seen her sober... As Aunt Pat pulled back, ending the hug, her brunette hair smelled of Herbal Essences shampoo. The scent was rather strong to. Jason and he had to fight the urge to pass out.

"Here. Now make sure you use it wisely." Uncle Bill said handing Jason a large wad of cash. Uncle Bill worked in the movie industry and has been in a few himself, but he never made it 'big'. In fact, he was in the remake of 'Miracle on 34th Street', but that's another story. Uncle Bill wasn't home often as he would be out of the house several weeks at a time before coming back. It was hard on them, but they all dealt with it.

    "Thanks Uncle Bill"

"No problem" Bill said as he rubbed Jason's head, unintentionally, scratching behind Jason's cat ears. Jason startled everyone with a rather loud purr before forcing himself to stop, embarrassed. "I gotta go now..." He said as he bolted out the door, not giving them a chance to say a word back.

    ----------

Jason reached the lab rather quickly, but that was expected. One of the assistants let him in when he knock and brought him to Professor Oak. Professor Oak looked as though he had started to embrace how he was aging. His hari fading from gray to white and his wrinkles seemngly deeper.

    "Good Morning Jason"

"It's Loveless, Professor." Jason said flatly. "And good morning to you too. I'm here to pick my first pokemon."

"Yes I know. Two of them have already been taken but take your pick of the rest. he said as Loveless began looking at the pokeballs lined up on the table adjacent to the Professor. A Magby, a fire type and not something Loveless would like. He wasn't fond of fire type. He was more a water pokemon lover. Unfortuneately, Azurill was apparently already taken. There was a Budew, but again, Loveless wasn't fond of grass types. Then there was Eevee... the evolution pokemon. PERFECT! Loveless picked up Eevee's ball proudly.

"That one's pretty feisty, but I have a feeling you two will get along." Professor Oak said as he went into a filing cabinet for something. He came back a second later and handed Loveless a few pokeballs and a pokedex. "You'll need these on your journey as well.'

Angel graciously accepted them and put away the items in his bag. "Thanks Professor"

"Anytime, Loveless" The old man said with a smile.

Loveless looked at the pokeball for a second before deciding to meet Eevee now. He tossed the ball and from it appeared a fox-like cat thing.

    "Eevee" It sai happily.

"Hi Eevee. I'm your new trainer. Loveless." Loveless said to Eevee with a warm smile on his face. Eevee just gave him a blank stare... stareing at the top of his head having already noticed the Cat ears hidden among the wild hair. "Yes. They're real" He said as he felty them and bent them to show they were real and did hurt. "Long story. I'll fill you in later. Ok?"

    "Vee EE!" It mewed happily.

"Come on. let's go!" Loveless said as they walked towards the door together. Once at the door, Loveless returned Eevee and left the lab headed towards Route 1.

A grassy route leading from Pallet to Viridian, it is home to the most common Pokémon in all of Kanto. There will also be a few other beginning trainers, so watch out!

What you can do on a Route
    • Catch wild Pokémon
    • Battle other trainers (not other RPers)
    • Errrr…anything. Y'know, free will and all that.

    Wild Pokémon
Pokémon are grouped by rarity. This basically relates to how good your post has to be to catch them. Remember to end your post waiting to see if the Pokémon is caught or not. :D

  • 'So you're not much of a talker, aye?' the chatty girl whispered amused, propping the sleeping Azumarill up on the stone bench and returning her, tucking the ball away in her bag.

Stepping out from the sideline she'd tucked herself into she noticed two boys she recognized from the small crowd outside Oak's building journeying northward to a path marked 'Route 01' with a dilapidated signpost.

She sighed as she got closer, taking in the wild, overgrowing grass and thick bushy trees.

'So country,' she uttered beneath her breath, having a whine as usual, imagining trendy battling trainers sipping lattes between attacks on Cycling Road like she'd seen on traveling programs. 'Pfft, but you gotta start somewhere I guess.'

She bemoaned the fact she didn't look good in jeans as her uncovered shins scraped past the fine needles of bushes and weeds. Already she had been reduced to talking to herself, uttering things like 'damn tree' and 'God I'm thirsty' and the prospect of befriending someone had now become a priority.

Big hazel eyes, watery with frustration, glinted as she scanned her surroundings; successfully navigating the narrow passageway that led out of and in to Pallet Town, she was now in a spacious clearing which was broadly populated with rookie trainers battling feral Pokemon and each other, young kids chasing after Rattata and a sight she found particularly noteworthy, a flock of Pidgey pecking away at the remains of a small Caterpie.

An abandoned picnic table littered with empty takeaway food cartons stood near to a wall of trees. It was rather reminiscent of a cheesy horror flick, she thought, with the weak morning light illuminating the pale, rotting wood of the table. The faded colouring on the once red cartons added to the scene she imagined in her head and a generic open green rubbish bin stood further away, wiggling. Wiggling? Skatey peered at the bin with a raised brow, stepping closer to the inexplicably moving trashcan. Suddenly a banana skin flew out of the possessed piece of scenery and landed a foot away from her, followed by an apple core and a soaked napkin.

'What the flip?' She nervously approached the bin and cautiously peeked over the rim.

'GrrOW!' a little gray dog exploded from the pile of reeking trash and landed powerfully in front of her.

The Pokemorph Journey - Hidden Secrets [PG-13]

    RE-ENACTMENT PHOTOGRAPH

With its hackles raised Skatey quickly became intimidated but her instincts – and she had to question their place in her very human psyche – forced her to growl, louder, snapping at her tiny foe. The dog – clearly quite young, with a soft down of fur and slightly floppy ears – instantly lowered its stumpy legs and finally, as Skatey took another weighted stride towards it, rolled submissively onto its back, exposing a much darker-furred potbelly filled with delicious trash.

'Don't get up!' she said severely, with an air of aggression not usually present in her tone or actions; the dog remained still as Skatey took out her Pokedex and scanned the little beast.

'POOCHYENA – THE BITE POKEMON'. As the Pokedex blathered on, Skatey shook her head as though awaking from a moment of insanity and glanced fervently over her shoulder. I must look like a complete nutter, she realised and quickly announced, quite loudly,

'I am merely subduing this Pokemon before I capture it!' Garnering in response a handful of pained looks from previously uncaring onlookers. She replaced the Pokedex with Azumarill's Pokeball and flung it to the dusty ground, issuing some battle cry as Flounder formed in front of her.

'Flounder! Water gun!' she yelled as the Poochyena jumped to its paws, shocked, but ready for battle. Flounder looked up at Skatey, confused – water gun? As Skatey tried to reiterate her command she could see the Poochyena charging towards Flounder, ready to administer a tackle attack.

'JUST USE WHATEVER!' she screeched, panicked, and Flounder's cheeks inflated with readiness as she bounded with the grace of a balloon gliding off and on the ground before a stray blade of grass manages to pierce it making it...

BANG! Flounder flew back with incredible force but thankfully due to her rather hollow body, she bounced back with remarkable resilience and, pouting with rage and embarrassment, fought back with an attack Skatey would never have assumed she had, let alone could identify. A breath of icy, sleet-laced breath flooded from her open mouth and danced around the Poochyena, causing its limbs to ache and burn with cold and stunning it in position. Skatey grinned – the window of opportunity has opened just for you, she thought to herself – and produced an empty Pokeball from her bag, hurling it with great audacity toward the little gray dog. It engulfed her foe in a red beam and sucked the holographic shape in, dropping to the ground with the button still flashing with the same air of anticipation as a particularly heated game of hide and seek.

Hands on knees, Skatey eagerly awaited with Flounder perched on her shoulder, for the low-pitched bleeping to finish on a more positive end note.

(OoC: no surprises I went for Poochyena, promise I'll be a little more social/battle a trainer in the next post but I wanted to wait for the other guys)

  • Bryan walked stiffly through the knee high grass of Route 1. His hands were stuck in his pockets, giving him a laid back manor, even if his face remained cold. "Anything yet?" he called to Murkrow in annoyance. Walking for half an hour without seeing any sory of pokemon was enough to grate on anyone's nerve.

"Krow!" Murkrow called, flapping high above Bryan. The black bird watched with narrowed eyes. He was just as annoyed as his trainer. It was rather annoying, having someone who doubted his skills. Eyes continuing to glare down below him, Murkrow's face lit up suddenly at the sight of a trainer up ahead. "Krow!" Murkrow called, flying down to Bryan's level and gesturing forward with his beak.

Eyes following the gesture, Bryan grinned dangerously, pointy teeth showing off, as he saw the trainer up ahead. It was a boy, maybe a year older, and he had two pokeballs attacked to his belt. "Hey!" he called to the brown headed boy.

Blinking at the call, the boy turned towards Bryan. "What?" he called back before his eyes landed on Murkrow. "Oh," he said with a grin, "a battle?" He waited for Bryan to nod. "How many?"

"Just one," Bryan answered, gesturing for Murkrow to get in front of him an get ready.

"Alright, then. What's your name? I find it a bit uncomfortable battling a person when I don't even know their name. Mine is Josh, by the way."

"Bryan," Bryan grunted, just a tad bit impatiently.

Josh, a bit amused by Bryan's impatience, quickly grabbed a pokeball. "Go, Poliwag!"

With a burst of white light, a blue colored pokemon with a flipper like tail, two tiny feet and a hypnotice symbol appeared. "Poli!" it exclaimed, bouncing happily.
The Pokemorph Journey - Hidden Secrets [PG-13]

"Alright, Poliwag," Josh said quickly, "lets start with a Bubble!"

"Poli! Poli!" Poliwag called while it still bounced. Tiny circular mouth opening, a large barrage of shiny bubbles came soaring out of its mouth. Knowing the bubbles would explode upon contact, Bryan reacted quickly.

"Dodge, but fly in close and use Astonish," he ordered swiftly.

"Muuw," Murkrow cawed as he began to flap his wings quickly. Narrowing his wings into a dive, Murkrow would pull up and swiftly turn away at just the right moment as he got even closer to Poliwag. "Krow!" Murkrow called, wincing a bit as a few stray bubbles managed to explode right by his wing, damaging him just enough to falter for a moment, but he stayed true to his aim. "Murrko!" Body erupting into a bright colored purple, Murkrow slammed right into Poliwag.

A wide eyed Poliwag attempted to jump back, but Murkrow was much faster than he on his puny legs, and was soon wincing in pain from the full on body attack. "Ploo," Poliwag mumured, shivering a bit.

"Poliwag, are you ok?" Josh asked worriedly. Surely that attack had not been too powerful.

"Peck it while it's flinched," Bryan barked, drawing Josh's attention. The other boy flinched as Murkrow mercelessly Pecked Poliwag's stomach, drawing a cry from the water type.

"Poliwag, use another Bubble!" he shouted. "And give me a whole bunch, buddy."

Poliwag beamed at the friendly term and quickly launched a lot of vicious bubbles that would, hopefully, cause a lot of pain for Murkrow. "Poli!"

"Murkrow, dodge!" Bryan barked loudly, eyes watched as the whole air literally swarmed with bubbles.

"Kro kmr mur!" Murkrow cawed in dismay, able to dodge for only a moment, but the Bubble attack just kept on coming in large clumps that made it much too hard for him to dodge. He was still a rookie in the ways of battling, for Mew's sake!" Murkrow!" Murkrow cawed in pain, wings outstretched stiffly in the air as the Bubble pounded harshly against him. "Kroro," Murkrow panted as he fell a bit in the air and only just managed to right himself before falling to the ground. "Mur mur mur..."

    "Murkrow, Peck!" Bryan snarled.

Shaking himself, Murkrow flew forward with an angry glare. "Krow!" he screeched, crooked beak poised.

Josh grinned. "Doesn't learn, does he?" he asked to a happy Poliwag. "Bubble!"

Bryan sneered. "Icy Wind!" he spat, subconciously moving a bit farther away from the battle to spare himself from the burst of cold wind that was sure to blow near him.

"Plooil!" Poliwag gurgled happily with a few bounces. With a stern expression upon its face, it opened its mouth and released, once more, another barrage of Bubbles.

"Kro," Murkrow smirked, beak wide. With a deep breath, he let out a huge blast of cold air that turned into a blue, frosty attack. The Icy Wind zoomed towards the incoming Bubble, and immediately upon contact, all the bubbles froze. They quickly dropped to the ground, far too heavy to float now that it was heavy, and shattered upon contact on the ground.

"Poli!" Poliwag exclaimed in shock, quickly running around to avoide the blocks of ice. They came at him to fast, and with a head that can't look up easily while running, Poliwag was quickly wincing in pain as quite a few blocks of ice fell and shattered right on him. "Poli!"

"Poliwag!" Josh called, voice tainted with worry.

Bryan gave Josh an ugly look. Worrying too much caused trainer's to lost concentration, and he was glad he was not like that at all. "Peck!" he barked.

"Krow ok!" Murkrow cawed vitoriously, thinking he had won as he dived towards Poliwag.

"Quick, use Mist!" Josh shouted hurriedly.

"Polliol li!" Poliwag panted. Concentrating, Poliwag opened his mouth and unleashed the silky Mist that soon covered the battling area. And just in time too, because Murkrow was just mere feet away from him.

"Krow!" Murkrow cawed in agitation, flapping quickly to bring himself to a stop. Gliding back warily, Murkrow just barely missed a blast of Bubble's grazing right past him. "Mu!" he called angrily, flying silently.

Bryan hissed in displeasure, tongue flicking out of his mouth to brush his lips. It was a gesture he did often when agitated, and it seemed to help most of the time. He narrowed his eyes, trying to see through the Mist, but it was no use.

"Poliwag, Bubble!" came Josh's excited voice.

"Muurk!" came Murkrow's caw of of pain, followed by the sound of a body hitting the ground.

"Yea! Great job, Poliwag!" Josh called into the Mist.

Bryan shot the area where he assumed Josh was a harsh glare. "Murkrow," he hissed loudly. "Use Pursuit."

There was a tense moment of silence. Josh apparently thought he had won, and Bryan was waiting to see if his Murkrow truly was useless. Another moment later, and a high pitched squeak filled the air.

"Poliwag?" Josh called questioninly, sounding very worried.

    "Poll... Poli!" came another cry.

Bryan grinned darkly, visualizing Murkrow disappearing and reappearing thanks to the dark move Pursuit. It was a handy attack for finding or going after an opponent who was trying to escape.

"Murkow!" came a victorious caw. Murkrow flew through the fading Mist and landed right in front of Bryan proudly. His body was battered and his feathers were askew, but he had won. "Kr," Murkrow stated with an arrogant air.

"Seems you are worth something," Bryan drawled, glancing at an even more battered Poilwag. It was lying face down, completely unconcious with his trainer hovering over him.

Josh sighed and brought out his pokeball. "Nice try, buddy. You were great. Return." With a beam of red light, Poliwag had been returned. He turned to Bryan and offered his hand. "Great battle," he said, and by his tone he clearly meant it. Bryan shook his hand roughly. "Hope to battle you again someday."

"You too," Bryan said for the sake of simple appearences. While he was cold and disliked people, there was no need to seem like an ass. Besides, he might see the kid again and need him.

"See ya," Josh called as he went his separate way, going down some other path.

"Let's go," Byran said immediately, already trudging down the path and not bothering to watch Josh leave completely.

"Kro," Murkrow sighed. Rolling his eyes, Murkrow took flight and followed his trainer.

  • Baron walked out his front door carrying in one hand a duffel bag and in the other a couple of pieces of bacon. He yawned and held the bacon slices up to his mouth opening it wide. He laughed and threw the bacon to the ground and a hungry Poochyena gobbled it up.

"Just teasing Mutt!" He said giving the Poochyena a pat on the head, "And take care of the town while I'm away!" and the continued down the path to the towns resident lab. Blades of grass blew in the wind and the sweet smell of spring flowers filled the air. I couldn't have picked a better day to start my journey! Baron thought to himself. He smiled up at the sunlight as his feet continued carrying him to the brick laboratory.

"Professor? Professor!" Baron yelled peering into the lab. He spotted the old man sitting at his desk and ran into the room.

"Oh, Baron my boy! Are you excited about your first Pokemon?" Oak turned and smiled up from his paperwork.

"You have no idea professor! I can't wait to see the world y'know!?" He smiled back at the old man awaiting his response.

"Then I shouldn't make you wait any longer should I?" He walked over towards where he kept the Pokemon intended for young trainers. "One question though," he said picking up a ball, "How did your parents react to you telling them?"

"Well... Mom broke out in tears and dad looked upset but not as badly as mom did, he said that It's about time I get some answers and see the world outside of this small town... Whatever that means. But whatever, they said I could go if that's what I really wanted." Baron sighed and looked down for a second before looking up and giving a happy smile. "By the way Professor, thank you for this opportunity!"

"Haha, if anyone deserves this Baron it's you, I haven't seen someone as.... Kindhearted as you come in here looking for a Pokemon in a long time." He handed Baron a Pokeball which he held in front of his eyes marveling. Oak stared at him expecting a result."Just press the button....."

"Oh yeah, sorry I'm just so excited." Baron pressed the button on the ball and out came a small bud-like Pokemon."This... Is my Pokemon? But it's so..."

"I know I know but..." Oak started and the Budew kissed Baron on the cheek.

".... Freaking adorable!" Baron picked up the small Pokemon and hugged it close. Oak laughed and wiped his head at the same time.

"I'm glad to hear that Baron I hoped you two would get along. Now here, take these Pokeballs and this Pokedex and head out, no more time to waste!"

Baron gratefully grabbed the items and stuffed them into his pocket and then without hesitation hugged the Professor tightly.

"Thanks... Baron..." Oak barely choked out while being crushed by Barons heavy arms.

"No, thank you Professor, BYE!" Baron ran out of the lab and head out towards route one. He brought his face closer to his new partners and said, "How do you like the name Rose?"

The Budew smiled and pronounced, "DEW DEW!" And kissed his forehead again.

"I'll take that as a yes!" Baron smiled and took his first steps onto the grassy pathway.

  • 'Smart arse!' Skatey laughed at the snarling pup. Its sharp, juvenile canines made it look like it was wearing dentures made out of a pair of pin cushions that had been put to good use. While the spiked fur jutting out violently over its backend suggested her tail was sharp and steely like the staticky coat of a Jolteon, she knew really it was as soft as a Vulpix's curls. Poochyena are all bark and no bite, she realised with a grin.

It may've broken free of the Pokeball, Skatey thought, but I have no reason to fear it. But looking hesitantly down at her petrified, shuddering Azurill, she had to wonder if Flounder did. The Poochyena had one paw placed in front of her, ready to counter as soon as a command had been issued. Skatey almost felt embarrassed, battling this wild, feral creature with a captive bred Azurill - but she was confident Flounder could defeat the small growling mutt who couldn't possibly have been over Level 3.

'Flounder! Charm that sucker!' Flounder clamped her little blue lips together in a daft but effective pout which dazzled the Poochyena, causing the tackle that it delivered immediately after to deal considerably less damage. Skatey was thankful for her partner's quick response to her words, for it was obvious that if Skatey couldn't end the battle very soon her opponent would; yet she felt a strange but strong - perhaps one-sided - affinity with the enraged gray puppy and was desperate to catch it - to tame it.

'Follow up with ice breath!' she shouted, failing to identify the Icy Wind the Azurill had delivered before as a legitimate attack, and Flounder bravely puffed up her cheeks to unleash a blizzardous puff of air which stung the joints of the Poochyena into a brief moment of paralysis.

All of Skatey's instincts told her it was the perfect opportunity to follow up with a physical attack, but the hollow blue ball that was standing up on its long zigzagging tail in front of her didn't seem capable of so much as a inadvertent collision let alone a tackle.

'Just charge at the little bugger, Flounder!' Skatey cried out in desperation. Flounder bounced from her tail into the action and rolled without a second's hesitation onto her back, flailing her pointy flippers around in the air like a hooked Magikarp. Skatey's look of intensity broke into a open-mouthed stare of befuddlement as she realised her tiny acquatic mouse was attempting to close her first ever battle with the infamously useless Splash attack.

Still, as her fastidiously moving feet collided with the Poochyena's lower jaw and fell back down against the bridge of its snout, it seemed to take quite a battering. Skatey felt a surge of admiration and adoration for Flounder as she was truly looked a poster child for the philosophy of 'giving it everything you've got'. Everytime one of her delicate flippers became entangled in the Poochyena's sharps, which snapped furiously in aggravation at her painful display, the fine, velvety fur allowed to slide back out receiving only a mild graze to its surface.

Eventually both parties were exhausted and Flounder's splashing feet moved much slower, allowing the bruised but irritated little dog to successfully clamp her in its jaws. Lifting her but a particle's length above the dead grass, the Poochyena proceeded to shake her limp frame.

'Oh no, let go!' Skatey cried, dancing around in a panicked state. 'Flounder!' she pulled out another Pokeball, planning to distract the Poochyena with it whether or not her second capture attempt was successful. But much to her surprise and excitement, Flounder's doughy black eyes reopened, narrowed and twinkling with anger. She raised the anchor that hung off her long, elastic tail high above the Poochyena and swung it into the back of its head. Knock out! Skatey smiled madly as Flounder fell freely from its jaws and ran back to her trainer, confident in her victory. Skatey swung her up and hugged her grazed body tightly.

'You were amazing my little friend! I had no idea you'd have so much God damn sass! My little pocket rocket!' she cried as she held the proudly chirping Azurill close. The Poochyena however, twitched against the gravel, and eventually began to get up. A low growl erupted from its shallow rib cage and Skatey and Flounder realised the battle was about to re-open to a second round. It was tired - an easy target, but looking at her bruised companion she knew she had no intention to force her back into the arena of sticks and foot prints carved in the impressionable dust around them.

'This is your last chance, pup. Friends, battles, and food.' she said softly before - purely on a beginner's whim - kissing the top of her second Pokeball and hurtling it towards the now standing creature. Again, its mass was concealed inside the small, red and white ball... as it twitched in a lone nest of grass with with an air exhausted, irrational rage, Skatey bit her lip as she and Flounder waited tensely for the outcome.

  • Murkrow continued to eat the juicy blue berries that grew in the rather thick tree he was standing on. After a good hour of walking (or flying in his case), his trainer had finally called to a stop to allow him to rest. Good thing too, because his wings were not made for long flying, especially since he was so unused to flying. Darn that old professor for keeping him cramped up in a pokeball all the time!

"Murk," Murkrow said with a little heat as he reached for another blue berry, pleased that these juicy berries filled him with energy.

"Peo," a new voice said suddenly.

Murkrow paused, beak just centimeters away from the berry. A golden feathered head appeared. It was a Pidgey, but it was oddly colored. With a beaky smirk, Pidgey grabbed the blue berry and swallowed it.

"Murko!" Murkrow cawed angrily, flapping his wings quickly to gain a good distance.

"Pgey," Pidgey cooed smugly, flapping his own wings, but only he lunged with a good Tackle attack before Murkrow had any idea what was happening. "Pe!"

Startled by the attack, Murkrow let out a loud caw that alerted his trainer immediately, especially when he was literally body slammed out of the tree he was in. "Kro!" Murkrow squacked. Flapping angrily, Murkrow tore his beak into the Pidgey's hide.

Bryan, who had been sitting under the very tree Murkrow had been feasting on, was jolted to his feet as soon as he heard the first cry. "What the hell?" he snarled, baring his teeth in anger from the shock. Glaring up, he saw, just in time, to see Murkrow angrily peck a golden colored Pidgey before, to his surprise, another golden Pidgey shot through the tree branches and Tackled him away from its partner.

"Krroow!" Murkrow wailed, flailing through the air.

"Murkrow, get them away with Icy Wind!" Bryan snapped quickly.

"Kro," Murkrow grunted irritably as he got control of himself. Angling to dodge two Tackle's from the crazy Pidgey's, he opened his beak and let loose a cold blast of air. The twinkling blue sparkles shot through the air, right towards the two shiny pokemon.

Pidgoo!" the two cawed, flapping desperately to dodge the Icy Wing. Angling, the two dive bombed Murkrow once more.

    "Another Icy Wi--"

"Wait!" a voice called, startling Bryan enough into breaking his order.

Bryan hissed in displeasure as he turned to see a bespectaled man in a lab coat run up to him. "What?" he snapped, just as Murkrow was hit in the chest and back by the two Pidgey.

"Murk!" Murkrow cawed, blasting another Icy Wind that, finally, hit the two Pidgey.

"Wait! Please don't hurt them," the man pleaded. "I need them..."

"Pidg," the Pidgey cawed in anger when they were hit by the ice attack. The three birds flew around warily before the two Pidgey saw the strange man. Twittering, the two dove towards the small forest of trees in the distance.

"No! Oh, no, come back," the man moaned, raising a hand towards the Pidgey as if he could grab them.

"Kro," Murkrow sniffed, glaring after the two before fluttering to Bryan's feet.

Bryan scowled at the Murkrow. "That was pathetic," he stated. "Two little Pidgey's got the best of you." Murkrow gave him a glare, but Bryan ignored it and turned to the man. "Who are you?" he demanded.

The man flinched at his town. "Er, I'm Bert," he answered. He offered a shaky smile. "I'm an aide for Professor Oak, and I've been studying the shiny pokemon that live around here. Unfortunately, there are so few, and the only ones I have found are those two Pidgey. I've been tracking them for a few weeks, hoping to find their nest so I can capture them and their eggs."

"Right, sounds fascinating," Bryan drawled, already walking away.

"Wait!" Bert called, stopping Bryan. "Please, I was wondering, with you being a trainer, if you would help. Pleae, I have no pokemon, but I do have pokeballs."

"You hope to capture two pokemon without having your own?" Bryan asked in disgust. "Aren't you supposed to be an aide?" Meaning why are you an idiot?

Bert flushed. "The professor doesn't have any extra pokemon, and me being new and..."

"What's in it for me?" Bryan interrupted.

Bert faltered, apparently thinking about it. "The power experience for Murkrow?" he said helpfully.

"Kro!" Murkrow cawed helpfully, raising his head in agreement. He wanted some pay back.

"Murkrow, start searching then," Bryan said. Fighting two shinies... how much would Murkrow grow?

"Kkrm!" Murkrow said with a nod. Flapping his wings, he quickly gained altitude. Glaring, he followed the scent of the two Pidgey's and led Bryan and Bert into the forest.

"As soon as you see them, use Icy Wind," Bryan commanded. "Don't wait for us."

"Be careful of the eggs, though," Bert said quickly.

"Ko," Murkrow grumbled, rolling his eyes but he headed on. When at last they came across the two Pidgey's, one was standing above a nest that held two eggs while the other was flying over the nest. The eggs were the usual Pidgey brown, but each one had a golden spot. "Krooo!" Murkrow screamed, startling the two Pidgey. Beak wide, a blast of Icy Wind tore at their feathered bodies.

"Peo!" they cried, falling to the ground in shock as bits of ice began to cover their wings.

    "Watch the eggs!" Bert screamed.

"Krowo!" Murkrow snapped, flying over to the two and began to Peck furiously. He was still angry over the theft of his food. Besides, who cared if the eggs died? It would be a tasty meal.

The two Pidgey flailed away, both looking hurt physcially and in pride. "Poo!" they cried, flapping their wings hard to creat a large Sand Attack.

"Good," Bryan growled. "Keep attacking them without mercy." Bert stared at him warily before looking at the battle completely wide eyed. "Pursuit," Bryan ordered.

"Kom!" Murkrow cawed, flapping over the two Pidgey as they both zoomed by in a Tackle. Blurring, a dark energy covered his beak as he struck one in the side, causing it to begin spiraling out of control and right into a try.

"Pidge!" its mate cried in anger, flapping angrily. Spiraling on his own accord to get some sort of demented twitsed Tackle, the golden Pidgey zoomed right at an astonished Murkrow.

"Remarkable!" Bert cried, taking notes. "Who would have thought a wild pokemon would know such an ingenious move!"

"Glad you approve," Bryan hissed angrily. "Murkrow, Icy Wind, and finish it!"

"Mor!" Murkrow cried, flying away from the Pidgey that had just Tackled it. Raising his beak at its mate, the one who banged into a tree, he unleashed the icy attack.

"Peooe!" she cried, flapping crazily but quickly slowed as her wings began to chi over with ice. Slowly, she began to fall, much to her mates horror.

"Pidg!" he cried, flying at her in an effort to stop her fall.

    "Now!" Bryan barked.

"Murkorw!" Murkrow cawed happily, closing his eyes and flapping freely with his beak wide open in a grin as he unleashed his final Icy Wind. "Krrro!"

The two Pidgey screeched in both pain and shock as the cold air whipped against them, bringing more and more ice chips to their body. "Poeo," they muttered in pain, falling unconcious before they even landed on the ground.

Murkrow flew to the ground and landed expertly. He puffed out his chest, though he did look exhausted, if a little full of himself. "Kro," Murkrow smirked as he began to clean his feathers.

"Oh, thank you!" Bert cried, already fumbling for two pokeballs. He tossed them pitifully, one almost missing a Pidgey completely, but they managed, and the two were sucked inside. The pokeballs shook three times before stopping with an audible click. "Wonderful!" Bert exclaimed, picking up the pokeballs. "Now if you'll help me with the eggs..."

"Help yourself," Bryan interrupted. "I was here for the battle, nothing else. You can get the eggs yourself."

Flabbergasted, Bert watched as the young man who had helped with this remarkable capture walk away. He turned to stare at the boys Murkrow, startled to see the dark type give him a smirk befor flying up, already catching up to his trainer. "Er, thanks?"

All Bert heard was Murkrow's laugh as he and his trainer headed toward the next town.
