I like Valentine's Day. It is usually my bad luck to be single on that day (as it looks like it will be this year) but it is nice to celebrate human emotion in such a way. Besides, festivals like Christmas now represent emotions such as jolity and merriment. So why is it so absurd to have one for love and affection? Most people associate Hallow'een with fear...

It is over-commercialised though, but Valentine's Day parties are great regardless of how many tacky elephants-that-look-like-Eros-plushies are everywhere.

I like any excuse to eat candy.

It's a fake holiday, yes, but there's nothing wrong with nudging people to be a little romantic every now and then. But it's a bad idea to confess to your crush on that day. Get ahead and confess early so you can enjoy the day instead of fretting that someone else will confess before you do.

I treat it the same way I treat any holiday, I ignore it. I'd ignore it even if I did have a ~super crush~ on someone.
+ I'm not a girl, so I don't get given stuff by creepy boys.

It's okay, it isn't like most holidays that force religion on you.
But my girlfriend broke up with me a week from Valentine's Day, so I'm not one to talk.

Personally, apart from Haz's birthday being on the 14th, I don't really see much cause for celebration. -_-

My view on this is that it's a Christian holiday which has it's roots in Christianity. I'm a Muslim so I don't celebrate Christian holidays. I don't hate the specific holiday, I just could care less about it. But, I do respect other people's religious beliefs.

Before you start on Valentine's Day being a Secular holiday, let me remind you that in Islam there is no Valentine's day. So I don't really see a point. :D
Happy Valentine's Day to those who do celebrate it though! I wish you the best of luck in your love life endeavors.

If you ask me, if you want to show someone you love them, do it everyday. You don't need a special day to show them you love them. :D

Hey, I'm a Muslim too. Welcome to my world.

The majority of all of you are pathetic. The reason why most of you are single is because nobody wants to deal with someone completely lacking self-confidence and independence. Go outside on occasion, have fun and meet some people, or if your hobbies revolve continually around the computer, go meet some other nerds and geeks and perhaps find someone special.

What's worse are the people saying Valentine's is just-another-day, which "ironically" are the perma-single people. Valentine's day is essentially a booked off day for couples to enjoy themselves together. With the zaniness of most people's schedules (note, for some of the people in this thread, that doesn't imply to you), it can be hard to find a day where a couple can be together, just with each other. Valentine's day is a great day where two people can be romantic.

And to the pseudo-intellectuals blabbering about how it's just a way for Hallmark to make money, etc, most people that aren't in hollow love tend to pair little gifts with deep thoughts and passion for each other. Lovers don't buy each other, they give to each other. You losers are looking at the card's/gift's function and not its symbolism. Then again, if you've been single all your life, you likely wouldn't understand what it's like for someone to care for you.

I just see it as an excuse for women to ask for more chocolate than usual.

You make it sound like you're supposed to feed women chocolate as you would a dog. Good job.

    Well, let's see...

As long as the weather is nice, my girlfriend and I will be having a picnic down at the lake, where we'll likely be until after the sun sets. If the weather is bad, we'll just be hanging out all day and night like we do every weekend.

Congrats on being one of the few people in this thread that isn't completely abysmal with the opposite sex (or same for gays).

Personally, I hate it. If you love someone with all your heart, you should be doing little things for them all the time. It's all over rated.

    Quite true.

But I try to make the day extra extra special for that special someone. I already made a poem. Trying to get some Godiva chocolate at the moment. :P

I kinda agree with Apples there..

So many people are such downers on Valentines day. I live far from the guy that I love and although we exchange letters and skype all the time, it's kinda nice to have a day to send a package from the stuff we've collected for each other over the weeks since the last occasion :3..

I hate it how for the past four years, every relationship I had ends up being broken whenever Valentine's Day was only like three days away. That pisses me off.

Besides, a person can be romantic at any day. Why must it be that particular day?

Well, at my school, it's teh perfect day, since it gives us excuses to give cards to the people we like (even though they don't know you like em), and if you had done it any other time of the year, it would have been embarrassing.
But I hate it when it uses it's sneak attack....I never saw it comin! XD

In Singapore, Valentine's Day falls on the same day with Chinese/Lunar New Year, but I am not taken yet, so... it's ang-pau (google if you don't know what is that) day for me! :D

I'm not a fan of the day. I've had boyfriends on the day, and I just don't see what's so special about it. If you really love someone, it's like celebrating everyday, and not just one day of the year.

Hopefully, I'll have gotten back together with one of my ex's, and will have a rather good day, assuming we can get out of our houses due to the snow.

In reality, I'll probably still be single, she'll rub all this praise about her new boyfriend in my face, and I'll go over to a friends house and us two single guys will get wasted while playing FIFA or Left 4 Dead. Hoorah for the Holidays.
