NAME: Madeline "Maddy" Hare
AGE: 15
GENDER: female
STARTER: Dratini
APPEARANCE: Long limbed, Madeline stands at 5'9, and still growing. Her body seems stretched out, as if a child without any notion of proportions had sketched her. She is thin, having a fragile look to her, yet she is as tough and strong as they come. Her eyes are a faded shade of blue, like ice, and her skin vanilla with freckles sprinkled about. Her face, like her body, is thin and long but with little definition. Maddy's blonde hair falls down to shoulder length, but typically she keeps it tied in a messy bun, her hair horribly entangled within itself, threatening to burst from its band. Slight bangs jut out of her hair and cover the top half of her forehead, although she would prefer if they didn't. Thin lips and eyebrows makes up the rest of her facial features.
Maddy typically wears her favorite dark green wool sweater. It hangs loosely off her wide shoulders, the sleeves too large for her arms, hiding yet hinting at her thin frame. Her black jeans cuff off at the ankles, revealing bright orange and blue socks. The bright socks, along with her greyish-blue trail-running sneakers, provide a nice contrast to her dark outfit. Madeline also carries an old hand-me-down knapsack, the tan oak color looking slightly withered here and there, the straps worn as if at any moment little tears could start forming.
RELATIVES: father, two older brothers
PERSONALITY: Blunt. A dose of honesty is always great, but Madeline has little tact with her words, and often teeters on the border of being incredibly rude or inconsiderate. Madeline isn't exactly friendly nor does she really care too much about strangers. But she is incredibly protective over family and friends, at least the very few she has. Accordingly so, Maddy also inherited her father's to worry far too much than necessary, about others that is. When she believes her friends or family are in danger it can drive her mad, and be the only thing she can properly think about.
Yet her own confidence is high, detrimentally so. Although she does not boast, she hates anyone who does, Maddy believes she has the capability to do absolutely anything. Her ego is unwavering, to her failures are just another opportunity to succeed. It has led her to become stuck on certain things for days, even when the smart and clear decision would be to move on. She enjoys competition but doesn't let it consume her. She uses it as motivation. Maddy is also restless. She cannot stand lazing about, being still, or doing nothing when there is plenty to do. Physically and mentally she is in constant motion, though she isn't much of an analyzer, preferring to act rather than think. Coupled with her impulsive tendencies and confidence, it can be a fairly negative trait to have and it's led to plenty of bad decisions in her life before.
BIOGRAPHY: Madeline grew up in a household dominated by boys. Her father was strict on them not to involve her in their roughhousing, but they did so anyways. From a young age Madeline was always fighting with her brothers, little troublemakers who started fights in the neighborhood left and right. She was not an exception. They taught her how to fight, and fight she did, boys, girls, whoever dared mess with her at the local playground would get a taste of the hands. The scratches and bruises she'd sometimes bring home were always assumed, by her father, as incidents from a chippy game of soccer or football, whatever the boys were playing with her. While the siblings had little quarrels of their own, they rarely seriously got into it with each other. There was a mutual respect between them, one Madeline had earned by knocking one of her brother's teeth out one evening after school.
While her father disapproved of her brothers' actions, and would have with hers if he had known, punishing them the best as he could, he didn't have the time to really do anything about it. He was always off at work, early in the morning and late into the night. Maddy believed the extra hours to be his way of coping with their mother's passing, which happened when she was still a newborn. The kids, to an extent, raised themselves and each other, and did at a damn good job at that. Despite their rough and irresponsible nature, they still did chores, still cleaned up after themselves, did their schoolwork and cooked when their father hadn't the time. Maddy learned a good deal about self-sufficiency from this.
As she got older, Madeline found herself straying away the fight scene, as well as her brothers. They started finding their own interests, which left Maddy to go on and try to find her own thing. This naturally led her to pokémon. She started to grow a fascination for them, and the pokémon trainer lifestyle intrigued her. Maddy began to shape her life around the hopes of one day becoming a trainer. When she saw Professor Sycamore's offer she was absolutely beaming.
