Okay, some people will understand this and some will not. For those who don't, please don't SPAM this thread asking what I'm talking about, you can PM me instead, got it? Good.

Now, as we all know, there were three Legendary birds. It is a lot of people's belief that Arcanine was meant to be one of them along with Ho-oh, but they decided to not make it all Fire types and put in Articuno and Zapdos, thus Ho-oh was left until the second Generation and Arcanine was removed from all status. There was quite a few hints to back this up; Arcanine was the strongest Fire Type in the game. In Oak's laboratory, in the espisode where he explains about Ho-oh to Ash, there is a picture or Ho-oh, Moltres and Arcanine.

Acually if you go to the old pokemon the first movie site play the quiz game on the legendary sheet arcanine is there. So it was once considered a legend. Its lucario all over again.

It's also just described as a "Legendary Pokemon" in the pokedex entry I do believe? didn't they change it to that afterwards as a reference to its previous status as a legendary?

If it was a legendary, which it is quite obviously not, it wouldn't have a pre evolved form. Its Pokedex entry describes it as a legendary, as stated by Cruelty.

Everyone above beat me to it. I think however if a Pokemon has higher stats than normal but not high enough to be an Uber then doesn't that make it legendary?

The pre-evolved form most probably came later. I really wouldn't be suprised.

Arcanine would make a fantastic legendary, better than all this arceus nonsense we get now. Haha

We thank you for plagiarising my thread. I'm Xion, by the way, guys. I could also link you to the original thread I made on Pe2k in January, but I'm sure this one will do just fine. I'll kindly ask for this thread to be closed. Good day.

Really now oni your flaming him cause he create an almost same thread as yours thats on a different site? I mean really I bet he never heard of it and you come along telling the mods to close it cause its a same topic as yours but on a different site. Im sorry but that is the saddest thing I heard.

Yes, but it is really bad copying. You must put the thread in your own words really, next time hopefully the Thread owner will learn before he makes his next thread.

Omg i just read that. NOW THATS PLAGARISING.

I personaly think it was classifiyed as a legendary because of it being the strongest fire type of all time and it haveing a legend like apperance so i think at first it was alright a legendary but it is not just like lucarion is classified as a legendary but really it is not

It came in the first game, when precedents had not been established. Why would they force a legendary to not have a pre-evolution at that time?

LOYALemerald, this always happens, I mean, copying a topic from another forum to in a way transfer the thread and not write a theory all over, but you usually have to give credit (without forum linking, of course) or state that it is not your own theory/words you're using to base this topic.

Oni Raichu, Your reaction is perfectly understandable, but please abide the rules and do not link to another forum again. In such cases you may report or contact a mod via PM, and you can link there only to provide proof, but don't do it within the main forums. Thanks!

I'll leave this topic open for discussion as long as LOYALemerald compromises to give credit to Oni Raichu in the first post. Otherwise, I'll close it. Cheers.

So, wait a minute. If Arcanine was legendary (which I believe it was originally; don't get me wrong), then what Pokemon was in Growlithe's place before it was given regular status? Could we have had another unknown to the public Pokemon to even it out to 150? Was Mew planned to be revealed earlier as #150? Was the original number of Pokemon without Mew revealed 149? Interesting...
