  • AKA Bond 23!

    Offcial Movie Site

Having been out overseas for several weeks, the latest Bond film has already grossed several hundred million dollars, and is expected to add to its already enormous total when it is released in the United States on 9 November 2012.

Who else is stoked to see Skyfall? : For those in Europe and abroad, what was your opinion of the movie?

  • I wish movies just came out everywhere at the same time. Seriously, why don't they?

I'm gonna see it the day it opens in America. I would already have tickets but I'm trying to go with friends and we're not all sure what time we can make it yet. I'm also almost finished watching ALL the Bond movies in preparation. (Just Craig's movies and whatever that forgettable last one that Brosnan did left.)

  • It's brilliant and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Bond films. The film is incredibly British and one of the best Bond films in my opinion. (Also, Adele's theme song is incredible and is perfect for a Bond film)

  • Saw this last night and it was pretty damn awesome. Definitely what was needed after... *shudder*... Quantum of Solace. There were some things which bothered me quite a bit but after talking to Jon about it, it sounds like I just don't like the way that some things in Bond films work. Although I won't get specific yet for the sake of people who've not seen it yet and don't want spoilers. Still, a good 7 or 8 out of 10 imo!

  • I have to say this one's gonna be awesome given 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Bond franchise.

Daniel Craig is looking stunning in this, have to say this is one of the best Bonds to date. And I give it 10/10 thanks to Adele singing the title song, she's just perfect.

  • Saw it tonight. A solid flick. Loved the first two acts, not so much the third. But a nice direction for the remaining Craig films

  • It was pretty good for a Bond film. I'm excited to see where the next film goes.

I was confused by one thing while watching.

Well, the name is close enough to the colour. Like Greene in Quantum of Solace.

On that note though, I was really hoping we'd get something to do with Quantum (SPECTRE in the old canon) in this movie. Where's this timeline's Blofeld?

  • I saw it Friday and was blown away, so much better than Quantumn and well worth the long wait in line. XD

I really liked the references to the older bond films, i.e, the DB5. Wowza.

  • Quantum of Solace was a flop for me, Casino Royal was a bit of a romp bond film but ok none the less. Skyfall, definitely on par with Goldeneye, and that's really saying something.

To be honest, I had my doubts about Craig at first, but in this, I'm hooked. He seems like a mix between Roger and Pierce, which is fine by me, cause I like both of them. The first two films were....meeeh, he seemed like he was trying to get a feel for his own spin on the character, and then in this, BAM. Keep it up Craig, we love ya!

(did anyone else shudder when they saw Steven Spielberg was the director....I did, and not in a good way XD though he did surprise me either way!)

    Also hidden goldeneye reference.

"What were you expecting, exploding pens or something? Get with the times...we don't work that way anymore!"

Oh, and by the way, the new "Q" reminded me of one of the ghost busters, which is funny XD

Funny thing, my mom doesn't like bond films, and she thought it was great o.o
she almost started doing the bond jingle outloud in that one part almost loud enough to hear ._.

*sigh* I need a girlfriend if only to see movies with and not get embarrassed as f*...

GoldenEye is a great one. But I think, for me at least, it's because I associate it with the N64 game and get a big nostalgia rush from it XD

In Casino Royale, that was intentional. He isn't yet Bond as we know him until the end of the film. That's the first time you hear the Bond theme. It's symbolic. A major theme of the movie is that Bond is fail-able and learning. ...and then Quantum of Solace was an unnecessary mess. :(

I have no idea what you're talking about. O_o Sam Mendes was the director.

    Also hidden goldeneye reference.

Yup, caught that. There were a lot of nods to the old films. Some subtle, some not so subtle.

    Like a young Egon Spengler?

One of the not-so subtle reference is the car at the end, I forget what movie it is though. (I think it's one of the earlier ones) I THINK it was from Russia With Love, but I could be wrong...

I understand Royal was meant to be a prologue, but it still didn't feel like Craig really nailed the character of bond.(it metaphorically felt like he was trying a new pair of shoes on the first time and awkwardly walking around the store to see if they fit.) The movie wasn't that bad, it was the pacing and action scenes that made it kind of horrible. I mean seriously...did he really need to peruse a guy for about fifteen minutes into the start of the film, most of which on foot and random camera angle changes?

Um no, I meant the character o.o you know the one with the glasses? (forget his name)

  • Quantum was awful. A complete mess of a movie in almost every department, and I really can't find much positive about it. I loved Casino Royale and I still watch it from time to time. It's that damn awesome.

Skyfall is a huge improvement over Quantum. It's a nice new direction, but the biggest issue was that it was just exhausting to watch. Several footchases and fist-fights. A few things left unclear, a few characters underdeveloped. And the final stretch was just strenuous to watch.

    Spoiler:

I'd give Skyfall a 7/10. Not as amazing as critics are saying, but still definitely worth a watch.

Goldfinger! :D Although it should be noted that Bond "won" an American model of the car in Casino Royale. I wonder if it is supposed to be the same one. But he somehow tricked it out? Q wouldn't do it.

I loved that opening sequence. It showed that Bond wasn't on par with the guy he was chasing, but was resourceful enough to keep up. This isn't the do-everything Bond. It's what made it a tense scene since you didn't know if he'd catch the guy or not. And it was just fun to watch all that crazy parkour stuff.

Watch some more of them. Adele wrote that song to stay true to the Bond canon, too, taking inspiration from 60s, 70s, and early 80s Bond themes in doing so. That's why it was so freaking awesome!

I was kinda skeptical at first when I learned it was Adele + Bond, but the song is actually amazing and the graphics on the credits were amazing too. I even downloaded it.
