    [PokeCommunity.com] Currency

Currency is an element in video games that has been featured countless times in almost every genre available. It's implemented very easily and in many different ways, from regular coins to Rubies like in the Legend of Zelda series to the even more forms. The common theme is that there is some form of currency in video games, and that theme has been present for longer than most others. In some games, it can be more important, and in others, it can be practically useless. Nontheless, some shape or form of currency can be found in the majority of today's video games. What is your opinion on it? Do you like collecting it, and why or why not? Do you think it adds to a game? Share your opinions on this aspect of gaming in this thread.

I think currency is a good idea. It's how you pay for things to buy in games such as upgrades. I do collect currency whenever i can in any games that i can. Yes, it does add to the game. Gives more options for players to expand their characters and the game!

In my opinion, currency is so common nowadays that I don't see it ever being left out of a series. It's good that they try to vary the type of money with every game, as the same old golden coin would definitely get old fast. Some times, the money can even become an iconic part of the series, like LoZ with rupees! In others, though, it's a feature most ignore because the benefit isn't worth collecting the coins. I'd like to see more developers try to implement reasons to take part in the currency system, like better purchasable items and rewards.
