    My PAX East Wrap-Up
    Date: 09 May 2015

    Mood: Feeling good!

A few weeks ago, I ended up having the privelage to go to the esteemed video game convention PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts. For individuals unaware of thise vent, PAX East is a yearly video game convention that brings some of the biggest companies around from Xbox to PlayStation to Nintendo to Bethesda to showcase their work and allow players to playtest their games. This was the third time I've been able to go to this,a nd hopefully it won't be the last.

Waiting in line to play Battleborn

I only had a day pass for this event - it normally encompasses a three day weekend - but I was able to go to two games that I definitely wanted to check out: Battleborn by Gearbox, the creators behind the Borderlands series, and Pit People by The Behemoth, the mastermind team behind Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theatre. Battleborn, the first game that I tried out, was an excellent first person shooter with MOBA-like qualities mixed in. Essentially, each team consists of five heroes with disctint play styles. This could range from melee users to the typical run and gunners, to tanks, medics, mages, and even heroes whoc an fly across the map. However, while once may think there are some clear unbalances going on, there actually is a great amount of balance between them across the board. Nontheless, I loved the game so much that I ended up going through the line again to get more of a sense of the demo (which, as I'm writing this, actually have a physical copy of the game right next to me.) Very fun game to say the least.

The second game that I ended up checking out Pit People by The Behemoth. The awesome thing about this game company is that each of their games they try something new. Castles Crashers was a four player slash co-op; Battleblock Theatre was a puzzle co-op. With Pit People, they decided to go with a top-down turn based strategy game. The verdict? FUCKING. AMAZING. I do my best to not overglorify video games, but my god was this game perfect. From the music to the visuals to the witty banter from Stamper as you play (yes, they brought him back from Battleblock Theatre thank god) it was an experience I very much enjoyed. I want to say that the game is coming out this summer at some point, and boy oh boy when it comes out I will be playing that nonstop.

Oh my! A wild Temi has appeared!

Overall, the convention was very fun! Definitely wish I had a three day pass. There is a possibility that I can volunteer next year, where basically if I put in maybe 3-6 hours helping guide people along in lines I'll be able to get a three day pass for free. So fingers crossed for that! What about you guys? Have you ever been to a video game convention? Would you ever want to go to one? Which video game company would you most want to visit? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!
