Hah, knew that would get your attention.
Unfortunately, if you came looking for R-rated material I'm afraid that I will have to disappoint you. This blog will mostly contain long-winded rants on whatever subject I feel like going on about, the occasional announcement and just general blabber and nonsense. In other words, it's pretty much your average blog. Updates will no doubt be sporadic at best, so enjoy them for what they're worth.
And on that note, I shall begin by publishing something that has been at the back of my mind for a while now:
The top three things that Alter Ego DOES NOT WANT
I sincerely hope that the big font suitably emphasizes my sentiments on this. Now I know that many of you are new to these forums and I know that some (dare I hope most?) of you don't mean to tick me off, but all of these things bug me:
1. Friend requests from random people
A lot of you seem to have vastly differing views on what that 'befriend' button is meant for, but allow me to reiterate my stance on it: the purpose of adding a person to your friends list is simply a confirmation that that person is someone you enjoy talking to and hanging out on the forums with. It does not automatically turn the person you sent the request to into a friend of yours and it most certainly not something you click just because you want to add another pretty avatar picture or colorful username to your own friends list. Having staff on your friends list will not make you cooler, it will not get you on the staff, and it will not earn you any benefits whatsoever.
To me, a friend on these forums is someone I interact with on a regular-to-semi-regular basis and someone I can have an intelligent conversation with. It is not someone who once happened to post in the same thread as me, someone whom I have never heard of before they start spamming up my VMs, or someone who just sent me that request because they thought my username or ava looked neat. I do not want people like that clogging up my friends list and I am highly annoyed whenever I have to skip over to the friend list control panel to deal with these random requests.
If you want to chat with me about something, that's fine, but if your only aim is to catch 'em all you can count me out. Either way, don't touch that 'befriend' button until we've actually talked to some depth. :<
The same goes for my MSN. Established friends can feel free to ask for my address via PM, but if you're a complete stranger to me then don't bother. Only people I actually want to be associated with get added, end of discussion.
2. Modding requests that go outside of my jursidiction
Okay, a lot of members are confused about this one, so in the hopes of saving the time and effort of people (including myself), allow me to stress:
I do not approve RMTs, I do not approve romhacks, I do not manage threads in the fanfic section, and I do not moderate threads in ORP. The only threads that I am authorized to work with are the ones in Pokémon Roleplay. If you've got questions about a section, take them up with one of the moderators responsible for said section (there is a handy little window in the bottom right corner of the screen that will tell you who these people are) or, if no section mod is available, a higher staff member. I can not manage threads that I don't have moderation rights for, so I would appreciate it if you stoped asking me to do so.
3. Whining
Do not make the mistake of equating this with complaints. If you have a differing opinion about a judgment I make, I won't get on your case for saying it to me. Also, if you're unclear about something I've said, I'd prefer it if you just asked for clarification rather than speculating about it. However, there is a good way and a bad way when it comes to presenting these cases, and just as a hint "my rp is fine why don't you accept it i have a different monitor" is not the good way.
Similarly, trying to excuse yourself from an infraction with an 'I didn't know' is not going to get you anywhere. Both section and forum rules are prominently displayed and clearly labeled; if you choose to disregard them by not even reading, then you should also be prepared to face the consequences.
Finally, do not try to strengthen your case by talking crap about other members behind their backs. Such attitude is not appreciated here and will not do you any favors. If you feel that you have been unfairly treated, then explain what happened properly and - specifically - why you think it's unfair and we'll see what we can do.
That is all for now. I'll be back whenever with a more positive topic. Cheers.
