  • Lately I've been looking to some favourite artists for some ways I could perhaps spice up my drawing skills, I came across one of my favourite artists called Creayus, who seems to do a lot of appealing Code Geass fan art.

    Today I've been making sketches all over the place, but I'll blog about the rest of them sometime later in the week. But in the meantime, let me show you two screenshots:

    1/3rd of my mission in life would be complete if I could draw half as good as you ;_;

  • If you're trying a new style you're only partly successful. What I mean is.. it's a beautiful picture, but if you're REALLY trying to imitate the style you have to analyze it more:
    Spoiler:

    Although I can see the different attempt of eyes, the code geass style has eyes that are much more far apart. The nose is also much more prominent. And the lower features of the face are pretty high- thus giving more emphasis on the lower lip (notice how in many of these faces there is shading to indicate the lower lip or it's actually fully drawn in)
    You got the hair good because it's really piecy and the neck is good because it's long like the art.. but I feel like the arms should be longer and more prominent and sharper. If you look at the fingers and hands it pretty much sums up the artist's style.

    Try continuing this with those in mind. I know how hard it is to switch your head and thinking into a different style of drawing. I've tried it many times and it's tough to really nail it.

    But if you're not attempting a stylistic thing then this is a really pretty picture so far :33 And I can't wait to see when it's finished.

  • Ah, but point is that I'm not trying to fully mimic the style, only really using the certain facets another artist would use to somewhat give my line art a little more edge. I'd also like to point out that the picture you've tried using as an example is not of the artist I'm looking at, rather the official artwork. I've attempted that particular anatomy style before: longer arms and longer, slender body that gives off the generic CG lankiness, and it only just made me realise how much I actually don't like the official style at all.

    Usually I just don't pay attention to CG art, but something about the way the artist I've named would do certain things makes me more inclined to try something somewhat different.

  • Oh okay, then that's fine haha. I didn't realize that that was the case. Either way great job and I hope you've learned a lot because this piece is coming out very lovely!
