Hello, guys. Megan here.
Most of you all (or pretty much all of you) got caught in an unexpected surprise. Yeah. As of June 30th, 2011 at around 9:30 PM PDT or so, I got promoted to a great position. A position that I never thought of actually getting in my days here on PC. Moderator.
To be honest, I almost completely, and utterly fainted. xD Still as of this moment, I feel speechless. I feel overwhelmed with joyfulness. I pinched myself so many times when I received that PM (the person who sent me the PM is classified information, fyi.) thinking that the whole thing was a dream. It's not. :P
New Users/Welcome has been my hangout spot since I returned from PC after a 3-month absence. What inspired me was a very good friend of mine whom I met on the PC IRC, Silver.Nova. Now, most of you don't remember the guy, since he's no longer an active member. I was able to show him around PC, and felt comfortable having me as his "guide". After Silver.Nova, I've welcomed quite a few other new PC members in the past, and today they are either active members today, supporters, or even so, moderators. Others that I've welcomed, they are my friends today, and some are part of my PC Family. :3
It doesn't hurt to welcome a new member to PC. It's like showing a new student around a large school. High school for example. I don't want to be that one senior student who wants to pick on a harmless freshman. I love showing the new members of PC the basics, such as how posting works, where they should go in regards to what they're looking for, who to contact, or maybe they just need someone to be their "get-to" person. You'll never know once you introduce yourself to a new member, soon you may become really good friends with him/her.
I'm sure that being a moderator isn't an easy job. I know that for a fact since I did read Patchisou's moderator blog. That blog entry gave me a clear idea on a moderator's daily routine. But I know that I'll be able to handle it just fine. When I got promoted, I immediately closed my first thread. XD It was pretty easy, but I know that's just the beginning for me. I'll try to be as relax as I can, and be nice. I hope I can put my school stress aside from this.
I still find myself thinking that I'm dreaming...seeing my name in bold blue, people curious to know who I am, and how I got promoted, my VM wallgetting spammed filled with amazing congratulatory messages, especially from my new staff buddies...it just feels wonderful.
Thanks to all of the higher staff for the promotion. At first I was a bit skeptical about my Recent Visitors tab being filled with lots of higher-staff names, but I know why now. XD Also, thanks to my amazing pair for being there when I got promoted. :3 And lastly, to everyone else at PC, friends and PC family members...you are all a great community. You are the reason why I keep coming back. Thank you for being so amazing. :3 For those who sent me a congratulatory message, I'll respond to all of them one-by-one, which I'm sure it's going to take time. :3
