Uniforms

I always wondered about this. My school is thinking about making us wear uniforms for next year which we never had to wear uniforms at all. I never get why females had to wear skirts when they wear uniforms. I always never got this at all I mean so many things can go wrong with wearing skirts or it's probably because of the fact that I just hate wearing skirts and would never wear them. I always wear jeans and if they decided to do this on my senior year then I'll be getting a lot of refferals for not wearing skirts.

-just a small rant about skirts; I know this is a small rant but I don't want to get into too much detail on why I don't understand why girls would have to wear skirts when wearing a uniform. I know it's to be professonial but....-

Also I found out that one of my teachers that a lot of people don't like in the academy including myself is leaving next year. I don't know if I feel a bit sad or glad that she is leaving. She has been nice but she is really annoying and there have been so many problems with her when it comes to turning in work and parents not liking her. Do you guys feel that way sometimes when it comes to a teacher you don't like that much and had found out that they are leaving?

In Australia it's compulsory to wear a school uniform throughout all 12 years of school, so yeah. :x Public nor private. I think it makes the schools easier to identify on excursions etc, so uniforms do make sense.

Although females could wear pants throughout my schooling if they didn't wanna wear skirts, so idk what's going on there...XD;

Also I was generally sad whenever teachers left since I didn't really hate any I can think of tbh :(

Same as Forever said, but in the UK, for the majority of schools. As long as the uniform is vaguely comfortable - which, to be fair, a lot aren't - then I have no real problem with it: solves one problem of deciding what to wear every day!

With the skirt issue, I agree that girls should have some choice on this front: at my school, skirts and trousers were considered acceptable and there was no real stigma for choosing one or the other.

I went to public school for 9 years, then transferred into Catholic school, where they require uniforms. I didn't really mind because I thought the uniforms were kinda cute. However, they did require skirts. If you're in a public school, I would petition for pants to be acceptable for girls. There were a few public schools that had uniforms, and they all were actually required to wear pants. In addition, the skirts took more to make than the pants so they were more expensive, and we had to buy our uniforms ourselves. xD;

I generally like uniforms, it makes it easy. You never know how much time you save by having a uniform until you actually do...it's like "Okay, here are three skirts, 5 sets of stockings, and 3 shirts, I'm set for the week". The 5-10 minutes that it takes to choose what to wear is eliminated every day, and instead you get to sleep a bit later. And if you just grab whatever and put it on, then it's not like you're really picking what you wear anyway so what does it matter? XD

My school, like many in NZ (but not all) has a uniform. Unfortunately, it's ghastly. Uncomfortably heavy grey shirts, thick, bulky darker grey shorts (or long pants), an itchy maroon jersey, long black socks with grey and maroon stripes . . . ugh. It's uncomfortable and I hate it.

My intermediate school's uniform was cool - all blue and yellow, made out of a breathable fabric etc - so I never had a problem with it. But for nearly three and a half years of high school, now, I've had to put up with this. I'd much rather wear my own clothes; even though I'm not one of those people that puts huge stock in appearances, I like to be able to choose, and in general, my clothes are much more comfortable, too. When I do wear my own clothes, it's not like I spend half an hour deciding what to wear - I just grab whatever T-shirt is on top, usually. And what Toujours says about that - sure, it's not like I'm picking what I wear, but it's still my clothes I'm wearing.

I feel much more comfortable in my own clothes, both physically and mentally. Last year, I got to give my formal speech on one of our school's rare mufti days, and it was great. I felt so much more relaxed, and it was much easier to stand up in front of everyone in a T-shirt and jeans than it was in a stuffy school uniform.

In short, down with uniform! Although within reason. I reckon schools should not have a uniform, but they should have a dress code, much like mine does for mufti days - no gang colours, no all-black outfits, no offensive language or jokes on T-shirts etc. And also stick to the 'no piercings- rule.

Ewww, uniforms >_> I've never had to wear such a disgusting demotivation. It sucks hard that Mexico enforces uniforms for all schools...
