So my roommate is a guy, right?

We're friends, but he's not a person I would ever consider actually dating. He's too weird for my tastes and I can hardly stand living with him as is sometimes. He drank my last Cherry Coke and I will never forgive him.
To be honest, if we could both afford living on our own, we wouldn't be living together in the first place.

Anyway, my mom -- bless her heart -- asked me 54265436543 times before we moved in together, "Are you and your roommate in a relationship??" "No, Mom" was always my reply.

Last night, my mom sent out a text asking if I was coming to Lincoln for the family Christmas gathering. I said yes. She then replies saying "Your roommate is invited."

Why was my first thought "Oh my god, my mom still thinks we're in a relationship doesn't she???" :(

Part of the problem might be that I never had friends to invite for any sort of gathering ever, so it's kind of weird to have him invited. Two, he's not really part of the family. I just happen to live with him. So seeing him invited was just kind of out of left field, it felt like.

My sister has commented that my mom might worry because the last male roommate she had, she ended up marrying. Yeah. Not happening.

You should bring a girl with you to mess with her mind.... or me, but you'd have to import me and I'm not sure what the prices are for importing a person.

Hahahaha. Ahahaha. God, parents are so clueless sometime aren't they?

Did you explain to them that the dorms are Co-Ed?
(Lucky, they avoid putting boys and girls together here. D8)

I don't know you, but taking Cherry Coke is an unforgivable crime. I can understand why you wouldn't want to date such a monster.

Even if she things you're both in a relationship.. then so what? ._. It's not like just because she thinks it that you'll magically get married.

Just go with the flow, politely remind your mom at times that your not.. but don't make it a big deal because it really isn't ._.
Lots of people have different-gendered roommates.

Sometimes. Granted I hardly talk with mine anymore so that's probably the big issue there. *coughs*

I don't live in a dorm; it's actually an apartment. We chose to live together because we needed roommates. Which is half of the problem, I think. The other half may be that this may be the first guy friend I've had in like years. Or, well, friend I could introduce to my family in general.

I know, right?

To be fair, we were sharing the Coke, but he took the last one and it made me sad.

Have you ever had this one thing you really were craving after a long day at work/school/whatever? That one thing you just had to have as a reward for a hard day's work? Have you gotten home to realize that the one thing you really wanted was gone?

That was me and the Cherry Coke. So sad that night. </3

It was poor communication on my part but we all make mistakes. It won't happen again.

I don't know why, but it just kind of bothers me. I don't think I want her to get the wrong impression?

Yeah, I probably am overreacting, huh? I'm just... not used to anyone thinking I'm in a relationship. I'm not sure how to react sometimes. :( I'm a very socially awkward person and I'm just not good at relationships in general.
