This world has gone down the gutter

Ever since I was a kid I've always wanted to do something great and see how the world evolves around me. We made it to the moon before I was born, but we've never made space travel for everyone possible. We've also spent our lives wasted away trying to cure AIDS, HIV and various other diseases but only recently has that been possible(hooray for gamers finding the thing we need to cure AIDS).

Transhumanism is still a long way away and so is defrosting people from cryogenics, one of the two things I wanted possible before I turned 20. But sadly all we've done is made touch based devices better. But these days, I am 21 years old and already am I facing my own mortality with life knowing I could die any second before becoming part robot to expand my life for a few centuries.

But that is all irrelevant, all I see now is the stupidest things in the news and we are nowhere even close to world peace. We're still racist(probably even more so before when everyone did it out in the open), we use religion to try and force people to see our own ways. And no one(and I literally mean this) is trying to think for themselves any more.

What I'm trying to say is this:

exactly. if you think about it, we're in a 21st century holy war, except the fight has moved from the battlefield to the court room

But think of how far we've come.

For several hundred years, homosexuality was illegal in this country. In the 1960s they made it legal, now they've FINALLY decided gay marriage should be legal. That's only about 50 years. When you consider in the early 1900s, lynching black people in the USA was considered totally normal, and now they have a black president. We're doing far better than we were, even if it's still ****.
