So I had an idea for a science experiment. I wanted to figure out if people actually enjoyed memes.

So far I've uploaded 16 let's play videos. Let's have a look, shall we? Some were tagged "Memes" and others weren't.

    Episode 1: Not tagged memes
    Views: 29

I can understand that this video has so many views even though it wasn't tagged with Memes. It is the first episode after all, and it would be weird if it didn't have the most views.

    Episode 2: Not tagged memes
    Views: 8

I wanted to get a few videos out that weren't tagged memes just to get a basic feel of the baseline. Of course the first few episodes were gonna have a lot of views, but I needed the views to get to a steady amount before changing anything.

    Episode 3: Tagged with Memes
    Views: 8

I expected views for this video to drop again, but it seems like adding memes actually stopped it from dropping! For now anyways.

Episode 4: Not tagged with memes
    Views: 9

This actually surprised me, but after further inspection, I actually added an extra tag, so I'm assuming that's why my views went up.

Episode 5: Not tagged with memes
    Views: 2

Drastic view drop, which I was expecting tbh. My channel hardly has any subscribers, and idk how I ever got 29 views.

    Episode 6: Tagged with memes
    Views: 6

Views went up again. Starting to think that memes actually do make a video more popular.

Episode 7: Not tagged with memes
    Views: 1

    Yep, seeing a pattern here.

Episode 8: Not tagged with memes
    Views: 0

Can memes bring a series back from the dead?

    Episode 9: Tagged with memes
    Views: 3

I also got a like. Memes are great.

    Episode 10: Not tagged memes
    Views: 3

I shared this video with some of my friends, which explains the views. Although I did get one comment from a stranger.

    Episode 11: Tagged with memes
    Views: 0

Starting to think this is all luck based tbh.

    Episode 12: Not tagged
    Views: 4

Perhaps people are starting to think this is clickbait?

    Episode 13: Not tagged
    Views: 0

    This is really weird.

    Episode 14: Not tagged
    Views: 1

    Episode 15: Not tagged
    Views: 0

    Episode 16: Tagged
    Views: 1

Conclusion: The experiment provided little/no results. I wasn't really able to find a pattern between memes and views after a few episodes. If you want a video to be really popular, consider adding a meme tag, but don't overuse it, or your views might actually go down.
