  • Continuing on to my amazing stay here at Kansas City, I woke up at 8 am…after going to sleep at around 2 am patiently waiting for Buoysel to get home from work (like a little puppy dog…okay not really haha), today we planned to hit the road…going through some parts of Kansas City, as well as he wanted to take me to this restaurant called Spangles. He wanted to show that the french fries there are pretty good. The nearest Spangles would be in Topeka, which is an hour drive from Kansas City. So, we went for it!

Before we jumped on the highway, we stopped at a QuikTrip to grab some breakfast on the go. Buoysie had always told me that food there is so tasty and worth the stop. The way he had described it, as well as the pictures of food he had sent me via text, I once compared it to the 7-Elevens in Cali, but HOLY FREAKING SHIT, when I got inside, I was soooooooo wrong. Very different than what I had in mind. So, I grabbed a slice of breakfast pizza (it's like ACTUAL pizza made with cheese, egg, sausage and bacon) (picture here), and a small coffee. My life will never be the same after taking a bite of that delicious, scrumptious, meaty breakfast pizza from QuikTrip. I demand one in Houston. There are NONE in Houston. That's a shame, really. :(

Even the cookies were delicious. White chocolate chunk macadamia nut. OMG. THEY WERE SO FRESH.

We headed west towards the hills of Kansas. One thing I've noticed so much around Kansas City (and proobably everywhere in Kansas? Correct me, Buoysie.) is that everywhere you go in Kansas City, there is so much road construction going on. It's like the whole freaking state is going through some extreme makeover. Buoysie was doing 80-85 on the interstate, but once we reach a road construction zone, he'd have to go way down to 60, probably 55 in order to get through. It's pretty crazy here. He had mentioned me a few times that there's a lot of road construction going on most of the highways he's been on, but wow. That is a LOT of road construction I've been seeing xD (I took a few pics of them. Will post in Day 5!)

We literally drove 120 miles round trip…to Topeka for a large-sized french fries from Spangles. Worth it? Yes. Because holy shit they were super good.

As we returned to metro Kansas City, Buoysie and I were talking about how there was an IKEA in town, but never got around to actually go in one. I haven't gone in one either, so that makes the two of us. So he got off the highway and stopped by. Our jaws dropped on how amazingly HUGE it was, and that there was garage parking UNDER the warehouse. I think he was more impressed at the whole thing than I was. Even the inside of IKEA was super huge. It was like a freaking amusement park. The furniture showroom was so big. What impressed me the most? Most of the things in IKEA are super duper cheap! $200 for a decent full-sized mattress, and there was a $129 desk chair with lots of colors on it. I should have gotten a catalog when I left. However, I ended up buying a fox plushie from there. Because fuck yeah I bought something from IKEA.

Also, HEY RIKA SWEDISH MEATBALLS DO LOOK PRETTY GOOD.

So right now, I'm watching an online stream of the NASCAR Xfinity race, while playing fetch with Delilah. She's become more friendlier towards me, and she even woke me up this morning. It's been a beautiful day today, perfect for walking her around the park. Super awesome doggy. <3

    Day 3 will be fun! I can't wait <3
